  1. I think it was McBeane who said it actually. I mostly agree with this but also... Yes, there's little doubt that McCaffrey was unwisely overused by Carolina. IF he was available at THE RIGHT PRICE and IF he would be open to renegotiating his contract, THEN I could see a team taking him on and using him more wisely and efficiently than the Panthers did... kind of like how the Bills plan on using McKittrick... as a hybrid passing down back/slot receiver.
  2. Yes, the OP is correct. Last season the Bills had only one person who could create pressure up the middle. Things like getting the QB "off his spot," getting hands in the passing lanes, obscuring downfield vision, and causing proximal discomfort/panic are all functions of the interior pass rush. With an outside pass rush the QB can always climb the ladder. With an inside pass rush that's not possible. This is why every team would like to find "their Aaron Donald" and why the Bills selected Ed Oliver so high.
  3. Without pointing the finger directly at anyone, this board always reminds me that many people make judgements based solely on name recognition. If it's not bright and shiny they simply have no ability to appreciate value. For those of you that possess and embrace this blind spot, good luck in life. This is also a good place to be reminded that many fans don't understand the difference between game speed and timed speed. These are the fans who thought that Gabriel Davis was a wasted draft pick. Don't. display. your. lack. of. understanding. Watch. the. video. Post. less.
  4. I've heard of him!!!
  5. He weighed 329 at the combine. After joining the WFT he was challenged by his coaches to lose weight in order to unlock his potential. He did exactly that.
  6. ... not that there's anything wrong with that.
  7. Uzomah at $8 million per? Now we're looking at OJ Howard territory.
  8. Your abilities to perform post mortems is recognized and celebrated here however I'm not sure I trust you to see the future... besides you missed my joke.
  9. He weighed 329 at the combine. Feel better now? 😆
  10. Yes Rudolph. It should be a good battle between him and Trubisky as to who will guide the sleigh.
  11. Landry is a great football player. He reminds me a lot of Hines Ward. Any team would benefit from his toughness and savvy but I'd prefer we spend the capital on a different style of player. I wouldn't hate if we got Landry but I feel the Bills would benefit more from a guy who could stretch the field and explode for touchdowns... guys like Scantling or Mecole Hardman.
  12. Yes. And then you have to factor in how much his replacement will be paid.
  13. If you were in the business of reporting or speculating on player compensation, why wouldn't you reference both? Laziness?
  14. I've been going to Pro Football Reference for many years. I'm not seeing where you the numbers you state are broken down or sortable by 4th quarters. Don't worry about it.
  15. Thanks WEO. Unfortunately I'm not finding that in the link... I'm not saying it doesn't exist but I'm not seeing it. Are the facts you stated from when he entered the league 10 years ago or what is the time frame?
  16. Really?!?!? Wow, I'm hugely surprised by that. What is your source?
  17. I'm really happy he's coming back. I strongly feel this is a grave miscalculation on his part... like the fighter who stayed one fight too long. Brady was 33-3 vs the Bills, the best record by any QB against any team. I would think all Bills fans would relish nothing more than the opportunity to beat him in the Super Bowl. The Bills Super Bowl win in 11 months will be made much sweeter by Mr. Bundchen's unretirement.
  18. Sir Isaac Newton, correct? In fairness, they didn't have a lot of options, no? It's splitting hairs but I disagree. I've never seen a more risk averse QB than Cousins. He makes Trent Edwards look like Indiana Jones. On the other hand I think Carr understands risk/reward better than Cousins and Garrapolo absolutely doesn't fear throwing the ball anywhere in any situation.
  19. Anyone who has a handle like his is only here to troll. Sadly there's always detritus to wade through around here.
  20. Stopwatch speed aside, McKenzie is nowhere close to Hill. On the other hand Beasley is nowhere close to McKenzie. McKenzie's speed and quickness were on constant display even on the fake jet sweeps. Maybe Beasley has a resurgence but last year he was basically falling down to avoid hits after catching the ball. It was honestly one of the most pathetic run after the catch seasons I can ever recall by a receiver. Beasley is not the same player he was two years ago. Maybe he regains his mojo, maybe he doesn't.
  21. What was McKenzie wearing? As for cost, the devil is in the details. As for durability he is tiny but I don't recall McKenzie ever taking a big hit. He seems to protect himself really well. This falls under the "If someone has to explain it to you, you'll never understand anyways." Or as others have suggested, another tight end to employ in 2 TE sets.
  22. I think that sort of discipline is important. A person in Beane's position has to put an appraised value on everything and stick to it. It should be an automatic response to any player availability. It should be coldly rational and not emotional in any way. That said, aside from being disciplined there's always the discussion of whether any given appraisal is a good one or not.
  23. Not sure what Jones' comments about scheme preference really mean but I found this to be interesting as far as his stated position: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JoneCh03.htm
  24. I don't think Lorax's situation is relevant. There's a difference between a player stating they only want to play in a certain scheme and said player taking a team at their word that they are going to change their scheme to fit the player. Lorenzo Alexander played D-line many years before he transitioned to LB... and he made that transition well before he signed with the Bills. Regardless we'll see soon enough. As another poster said, they believe that Chandler Jones would prefer to play as a 4-3 end.
  25. You missed the point. What does Lorenzo Alexander "working out fine" have to do with Chandler Jones stating that scheme fit is important to him?
