  1. Agree 100%. Eric Wood was much better at center than at guard too (where he played some snaps the first few years of his career). My theory on this (eyes rolling) is that the center doesn't have to reach as far to engage a defender so if he has above average strength, that proximity plays to his advantage. Wood had good mobility but both he and Feliciano had/have above average strength and would normally win if they could get their hands on the defender.
  2. This is yet another reason the NFL stands for No Fun League.
  3. An excerpt from The Athletic writer Ted Nguyen's article: 5 top NFC free-agent signings for value and fit Nguyen has Feliciano rated his 3rd best NFL value/fit free agent signing after Jameis Winston and DJ Chark. New York Giants: Jon Feliciano, C Contract: One year, $3.25 million ($2.4 million) Average annual value rank: 20th (among centers) Scheme: Spread, heavy pass Jon Feliciano has been plagued by injuries in the past couple of seasons. The Bills asked him to take a pay cut but he refused and was released. He has experience playing left guard, center, right guard and he’s even returned a kickoff — he probably won’t be doing that last part often but never say never. He’s expected to play center for the Giants. He played for head coach Brian Daboll with the Bills so he knows the system and understands what Daboll is looking for on the field and off the field. If he can stay healthy, he’ll bring leadership, intelligence and toughness to an offensive line that has been among the league’s worst for a long time. I love the idea of bringing him and plugging him into a leadership position for the offensive line. Having a center that quarterback Daniel Jones could trust to sort out protections will be huge for him as he attempts to live up to his first-round billing. 4th was Logan Ryan and 5th was Casey Hayward.
  4. Kyler Gordon is Trent McDuffie's teammate at U-Dub. I compared McDuffie to Antoine Winfield and I'll extend that comparison to Gordon reminding me of Winfield's old teammate Nate Clements. Gordon is not as good an athlete as Clements (who is?) but has a similar profile as an exceptional blend of size, strength, and speed. Gordon was expected by many to blow up the combine drills but he ran only the 40 in a somewhat disappointing 4.52 and skipped the other drills. At the combine his heavily muscled frame was obvious and made me think that he would benefit from losing weight and playing leaner. He measured just under 6' and weighed 195 pounds and looked above his fighting weight to me. Still the game tape shows explosive quickness and excellent game speed. He seems to play well in both zone and man and with good coaching (a given with McFrazier) and pro training I think Gordon's ceiling is pretty high. Unlike most I would be good with Gordon at #25 and I like him ahead of McDuffie because I believe he has a higher ceiling, if a lower floor.
  5. Difference in semantics maybe? Dawkins has played 74 of 80 games as a Bill including a stretch of ineffectiveness last year due to Covid. Morse has played 47 of 49 games as a Bill, was benched in week 10 of 2020 and took a pay cut at the end of that season to avoid getting released. In my eyes they've both been good, particularly Dawkins, but not pillars. To me a pillar is someone like Will Shields or Randall McDaniel... someone who goes 10+ years without missing a game... someone like Jason Kelce.
  6. Most of the O-linemen the Bills have brought in under this regime have performed well at one time or another. It's just that only two of them have been consistently good. Dawkins and Morse have been the most consistent performers year over year and yet neither of them have exactly been pillars.
  7. Wasn't this the name of a battle during the Cuban Revolution?
  8. Honest to god I don't remember the Cheatriots*** QB's name. At my age there's a lot of things I don't remember. It's Mac or Zach, that much I know. I can see his stupid frat boy face though.
  9. It is hard to keep track of time... especially with all of those falsified birth documents.
  10. Fairly low bar. That and he's a high floor low ceiling player. I'm not worried about the guy. If I was I'd remember his name.
  11. I can rebut but what's the point?
  12. Cornerback-wise I was totally onboard with the Bills drafting Eric Stokes last year. He went the pick before we took Rousseau. I watched the video and loved the player. It was a deep CB draft with Horn, Surtain, Farley, and Newsome taken in the first round ahead of him. I had Stokes as my 3rd CB though he went 5th. It'll be interesting to see how the careers play out. As for this year I've only started watching the prospects and the only CB I've watched so far is Trent McDuffie because I've seen him associated with the Bills in some mock drafts. If he was available in the 2nd round I wouldn't hate the selection depending on who was still available. He's a very similar player to Antoine Winfield... extremely good tackler, very instinctive. The jury is out on him as far as being a ball athlete. He wasn't thrown at much so he didn't get a lot of ball opportunities. That said McDuffie is a really good football player. He's a bit short but is thickly built and quite physical. He's a rugged, physical downhill player who attacks the run and that makes me think he could slide to safety if/when the Poyer/Hyde team ages out. Not sure he fits the Bills physical profile though. My next viewing will be McDuffie's teammate Kyler Gordon.
  13. The Bills might have had home field advantage last year if they had Von Miller over Jerry Hughes over the course of the whole season. However I don't think Von Miller makes any difference when it comes to 13 seconds in and of itself. Mahomes was getting rid of the ball quickly which is why it made no sense to rush 4. No pass rush was gonna get near him.
  14. Let's remember this conversation and rewind to it later when the smoke has cleared.
  15. Thanks for posting... great stuff from Sal. With Waddle and Hill both in Miami, yes the Bills had better strengthen themselves at CB.
  16. PFT: "Ryan noted that while he initially thought he might get forced into a trade, when the Falcons didn’t land Watson, he had a choice between staying in Atlanta or heading to the Colts." and then “I just knew with the roster that they talked about, the belief in the players that they have here, the belief in the way that they do things — the time was just right for me and I felt like I needed to do it. I was up in my house and I was in my office and I came downstairs and my wife was like, ‘You look different.’ I knew kind of at that point that was the direction we wanted to go. It took some time to really think it through and discuss it, and when we did we came to that conclusion.” So as to the speculation, he could have chosen to stay in Atlanta but he made himself available to moving on.
  17. Well if you're old enough to remember Bud Wilkinson then you might remember this one: Or maybe you've forgotten it...
  18. Good call on Jimmy Johnson. I'd obviously forgotten about him. I agree though that it's very hard for a person to succeed in a world in which they haven't so much as dipped a toe into.
  19. Easy... what if Jimmy S. hears you? Be careful!
  20. There were at least a couple of precedents for college-only head coaches with zero pro experience who became NFL Head Coaches. Bud Wilkinson and Lou Holtz. In college their combined record was 394-161-11. In the NFL their combined record was 12-30. If Shahid Khan was a true NFL fan he would have been more wary of hiring someone of Meyer's profile. BTW, Wilkinson and Holtz also combined for 4 NCAA National Championships.
  21. You never really know another person's character but Jamison seems like he's a really solid human being. It's always better when you like the players you're cheering for.
  22. I don't really understand New England's flirtation with Fournette. Firstly the Cheatriots*** ran the ball very well last year with Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson, both of whom they drafted. In addition Belichick isn't naive to be manipulated for leverage so what was the point of Fournette's visit to their facilities if they weren't gonna sign him? Did they really get played?
  23. You missed my joke and I don't blame you cause it wasn't very good.
  24. At right tackle?
