  1. Jerry Rice looks great for 62 years old. Inadvertent blows to the head on consecutive plays.
  2. Thank you. I copied and pasted this from ProFootballTalk. I'm typically not one for playoff scenarios but I'm glad that the info is out there for people who curious.
  3. @Thrivefourfive, I've followed the Bills since 1968 but never made it to a game at the fabled Rockpile, aka War Memorial Stadium. My first Bills game was at Rich Stadium... the same stadium now called Highmark. My Dad took me and my brother. The tickets were an early Christmas gift. The weather was cold, damp, and windy. The Bills lost. And our seats were in the upper end zone. For an inexperienced football fan, it was hard to get a sense of depth. I remember on a few sweeps OJ ran, that it was really hard figuring out how many yards he gained. The other thing I remember is that even though the stadium was less than 2 years old, the "state-of-the-art" scoreboard (among the first to show video replays), was terrible with lots of blown light bulbs to the point where you couldn't make out too much of the video replays. The ride home was dark and the traffic was terrible. The mood was glum. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/197411100buf.htm I'm glad your first experience at the old stadium was better than mine!
  4. I did a bit of research. Not that it means anything but the only time in Josh's NFL career where the last game of the regular season was meaningless ahead of a playoff berth was in 2019. The 9-6 Bills had already locked into a Wild Card spot and played the 6-9 Jets, eventually losing 13-6. Josh played in the first two possessions, covering most of the first quarter. Of course at that time he was in his second year so there might have been some priority on keeping him sharp. Now in his 7th season, this might not be as much of a concern. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401127973
  5. Super happy for you guys that it was a fun and unforgettable experience. 👍
  6. Josh's streak is the 12th longest in NFL history... and counting. As mentioned upthread, thrown to an NFL (team) record 14th different receiver. One drive, one TD, one NFL record > baseball cap. As they say in some industries including mine, the greatest ability is dependability. For people of a certain mindset, there's almost nothing more important.
  7. Well Wharton is often ranked as the top MBA program in the US... and FWIW that's where Trump got his MBA... Rosen is most likely to have a good life as his NFL career earnings were almost $19 million and one would assume he'll be able to avoid going bankrupt. It would be kind of interesting to look back 30 years from now and see who has the most wealth among all the Class of 2018 QBs.
  8. It'll be interesting to see. I think in 2019 (Josh's 1st playoff season) he played one series or one quarter in the season finale versus the Jets after we locked up a Wild Card berth but that might not be relevant to this week's game.
  9. As of this morning (Sunday January 5th) most of the playoff field has been set, but two playoff teams remain to be decided and the No. 1 seed in the NFC will go down to the final game of the season. Here’s how the NFL playoff picture looks after the Saturday games of Week 18: AFC Playoff Picture DIVISION LEADERS 1. Kansas City Chiefs (15-1): Clinched the No. 1 seed, first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. 2. Buffalo Bills (13-3): Clinched the No. 2 seed. 3. Baltimore Ravens (12-5): Clinched the No. 3 seed. 4. Houston Texans (9-7): Clinched the No. 4 seed. WILD CARDS 5. Los Angeles Chargers (10-6): Clinched a wild card, will be the 5 seed with a win on Sunday or the 6 seed with a loss on Sunday. 6. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7): Clinched a wild card, will be the 6 seed if the Chargers win on Sunday or the 5 seed if the Chargers lose on Sunday. 7. Denver Broncos (9-7): Need to win today to be the 7 seed. OUTSIDE LOOKING IN Cincinnati Bengals (9-8): Would be the 7 seed if the Broncos and Dolphins both lose. Miami Dolphins (8-8): Would be the 7 seed with a win and a Broncos loss. NFC Playoff Picture DIVISION LEADERS 1. Detroit Lions (14-2): Clinched a playoff berth, will clinch the No. 1 seed if they beat or tie the Vikings on Sunday night. 2. Philadelphia Eagles (13-3): Clinched the No. 2 seed. 3. Los Angeles Rams (10-6): Clinched the NFC West. 4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7): One-game lead in the NFC South, but they would lose a tiebreaker to the Falcons. WILD CARDS 5. Minnesota Vikings (14-2): Clinched a playoff berth, will clinch the No. 1 seed if they beat the Lions on Sunday night. 6. Washington Commanders (11-5): Clinched a playoff berth, own the NFC record tiebreaker over the Packers. 7. Green Bay Packers (11-5): Clinched a playoff berth. OUTSIDE LOOKING IN Atlanta Falcons (8-8): Will win the NFC South if they win on Sunday and the Buccaneers lose. 10. Yeah, I was temporarily annoyed at Shakir for dropping that one and depriving Josh and everyone of the pleasure of seeing that playing endlessly in highlight packages.
  11. Would you settle for making a small bet?
  12. The dream has come to an end... https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jets-claim-dl-phidarian-mathis-off-waivers
  13. Funny stuff. The one fair thing to say about Cousins wearing his helmet is that he was keeping track of the play calls, which is what you'd want him to do under the circumstances.
  14. Yes. Josh's streak is 110 consecutive starts... 12th most in NFL history. The question in my mind is whether he's going to play one series or one quarter. What's the NFL record for most safeties (the scoring play, not the position) in a game? Bills by position group (alphabetically, + practice squad, not including specialists): Centers (2+1) CBs (5+2) DEs (4+2) DTs (6+1) FB (1+0) G (2+1) LBs (6+0) QBs (2+1) RBs (3+1) S (4+3) OTs (5+1) TEs (3+1) WRs (5+3) The following players would be candidates to be elevated: Will (Mc)Clapp, Frank Gore, Mike White, Zach Davidson, Casey Toohill, Shavers and/or Hamler, and possibly Kareem Jackson, Micah Hyde, or Lewis Cine.
  15. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jerod-mayo-on-sitting-drake-maye-in-week-18-everything-under-consideration "The Patriots have seen enough to know that Drake Maye is their quarterback for the foreseeable future, but he may not be their quarterback for the final game of the 2024 season. Head coach Jerod Mayo said at a Monday press conference, via a transcript from the team, that “everything is in consideration” when asked if the team has given any thought to sitting Maye against the Bills in Week 18. Maye was briefly knocked out of Saturday’s loss to the Chargers to be evaluated for a head injury and avoiding any chance of injury that impacted his preparation for the 2025 season would be reason for New England to sit him out." A loss to the Bills would guarantee them the first pick in the upcoming draft.
  16. I think safety in the McDefense is a little bit different than it is in other defenses... a steeper and longer learning curve. I retain high hopes and optimism for Bishop... (but I still do for Elam too so there's that).
  17. Particularly with all of the picks the Bills have, they'll draft at least one. I'm surprised there wasn't the usual avalanche of responses to this post. I agree. I understand Taron is an important and valued part of the team and that he has a contract commensurate with his value. That said, he isn't getting any bigger and he's not getting any younger. It seems to me that the Bills should be segueing into reducing his snap counts a bit. Taron is a total team player and as long as he's getting paid, I can't imagine him making an issue of playing time when it might actually extend his career. Yes he's married but please refrain from any talk about his personal life. You do not talk about Matt Milano. I must be losing my sense of humor... I don't get it.... You forgot to use the word "process."
  18. Yet another vendetta-driven, out of the blue, "I told you so" post by @BADOLBILZ... At the risk of being a hypocrite, didn't your parents teach you any manners?
  19. I see some here want to withhold a more durable judgement until the playoffs. That's a valid position but I would point out that minimally, the games against Kansas City, Detroit, and the Rams all had playoff magnitude.
  20. It boils down to how much credit you want to give Joe Hines-Brady and how much you want to give Josh. In light of the data, it's unfair to not give Hines-Brady high marks. Even if you want to give more credit to Josh than to Hines-Brady, you have to ask yourself: Why is Josh playing so well, especially compared to how he was playing under Dorsey? Give credit where it's due.
  21. To the bolded, it's been mentioned in passing (pardon the pun) but only incidentally so here goes: Josh has a consecutive games started streak of 110 games... 120 if you count playoffs. Either way this is 12th longest streak in the history of the NFL. Yesterday Josh said the streak is important to him. But then he hopped into the stands, thereby jeopardizing his good health. It was also important that Josh had an excellent game with another unforgettably great play, therefore not conceding the MVP to Lamar... which would have been the case had he not played so well. As we all know, the difference between success and failure is often one-tenth of a second or sometimes even less. That's why a defense can play lights out one week and very poorly the next. The physical fits and timing of the entire unit is critical for success. I thought Rodgers handled the question well. At some point yesterday (and for the first time ever) I almost started feeling sorry for him... but then I remembered that he's made over $380 million from football, not including other income streams related to his celebrity.
  22. To the bolded... I agree a QB shouldn't show up his WRs by publicly gesturing to them in a corrective way. Actually no player should do that to a teammate. That's what the huddle/sidelines/dressing room/meeting rooms are for. As for your talent assessment of the Jets, not a fan of Quincy Williams?
  23. The QB Class of 2024 is looking awesome but the other story is the QB Class of 2018 which was viewed as potentially the greatest class ever at that time. Lamar and Josh are established superstars and Mayfield and Darnold have resurrected their careers to where they're now considered franchise QBs. I can't imagine what goes through the mind of Josh Rosen these days.
  24. 1) I don't care what the "vast majority sees." 2) Me consistently disagreeing with you does not mean I'm making it a big issue. In fact I called it a "violation of etiquette" and an act of "immaturity." That's not making it a big issue. The reason this topic has reached this many pages is because people are arguing against those with different opinions... I'm not going to change my opinion because people want to argue with me. So for the greater good, you can have the last word. I don't care to repeat myself again.
