So what is the first coach or domino to fall?
Billz4ever replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
If that was my defense that got thoroughly embarrassed like that at home, I'd fire myself. Yes, they do, but I just don't know if what happened yesterday is going to be enough to make that happen, even though it should be. -

True, but with McD, I really don't see him doing that. Just the type of guy he is, I can't see him throwing either Frazier or Dorsey under the bus to save his own skin. -

Great questions. Unfortunately, from my vantage point, I don't see any major changes coming as long as there's butts in seats and this team qualifies for the postseason. Insanely long playoff droughts like this team went through can sort of lower the bar on expectations so that just getting to the postseason becomes acceptable. If we had an owner who really cared about winning a SB, like Jerry Jones, McD is probably gone. -

It SHOULD be both but in reality, it's most likely neither, even after getting thoroughly embarrassed in their own house on both sides of the ball. The score wasn't indicative of how big of a butt whoopin this actually was. They would never answer such a question, but I would love to ask Beane...If the organization is going to stick with the current coaching staff and their coaching philosophy, what's going to be the difference maker that gets this team to the next level? It's not like Beane himself doesn't have any culpability here...his misses in the early rounds of the draft are starting to pile up and we have little to nothing to show for those picks. -
Franchise in trouble- Josh Allen has regressed
Billz4ever replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let me know how Burrow and Mahomes would do if they had a turnstyle O-line who couldn't even prevent a 3 man rush from getting to him. -
I've come to accept our offensive scheme relies on Allen too much

I would really be shocked if they are, but I can't say disappointed. I think we can do better on both. -

So the question you have to ask yourself is do you want a rookie OC running your offense when you're trying to win a Championship. Even with the JA17 alien we have at QB, it wasn't anywhere near good enough this year. -

But as you already alluded to, how much of that is Josh creating on the fly? It doesn't help when your starting O-line looks like cardboard cutouts. I'm sure Dorsey's offense looks much better if the QB doesn't have pressure in his face at the same time he's getting the snap. I'm not saying that Dorsey will never get it, but many times this year, it seems like his awareness of situational football and calling the correct plays for the down and distance was lacking. -

The understatement of the century. What's an easy test? What would this offense look like with Keenum at the helm? Scary thought. Look at KC on the otherhand...Mahomes goes down, Henne comes in and they march down the field and score. Mahomes doesn't have to play superman (although he can if necessary) because they have an offensive minded coach that uses schemes that work. Our schemes look like they work, but it's not the schemes. It's Josh quite often on the run, creating on his own, and usually on the fly. Our "schemes" are something along the lines of "we make it up as we go". -
Doubt it because Cincy is clearly the better team, but if I hear another person tell me how playing in this weather is somehow an advantage for the Bills given the type of offense we run, I'm going to scream.

Josh looked really defeated in his press conference.
Billz4ever replied to bostonadguy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I would be too if my O-line couldn't protect me at all against a 4 or even 3-man rush when the other team is missing 3 O-line starters and our D barely sniffed Burrow all night. This coaching staff and front office has gotten far too comfortable with the thought that Josh will find a way. We say Josh is Superman and wears a cape, but even Superman was powerless against kryptonite, which is what the Cincy D was tonight. -
I don't even like the comparison because it's not apples and oranges. If Burrow was under the pressure Josh was the entire game against 4 or even 3-man rushes and 7 or 8 guys is coverage, how do you think he does? Cincy had 3 starters on their O-line out and we barely ever got a whiff of Burrow. One one hand, you've got Josh, who if he wasn't mobile, probably gets killed out there tonight. Constantly having to create on the fly and not getting to actually execute the plays as they were designed. on the flip side, you've got Burrow, sitting in the pocket, and methodically moving the ball down the field. That's not even getting into how Cincy was almost ripping off a first down on every run. Is Cincy the better team? Without a doubt, but the comparison of Burrow and Allen is not fair IMO.

Only problem is I don't see Beane signing Reggie White to come in and carry the defense. Von is not Reggie.

Post-game thoughts after a disappointing loss
Billz4ever replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Honestly, I'm glad we lost this game. Once we got into the 3rd quarter and it became pretty clear to me there was not going to be a dramatic comeback, I accepted it and was thankful we didn't have to deal with the hype of the KC game where we'd have to live with getting bounced by KC again and this time, the narrative would be that it was by a hobbled Mahomes...or even worse, somehow manage to survive KC, advance to the SB and then be staring at the Bills 5th loss after getting crushed by SF or Philly. This was a crazy season and the hype was real since the end of last season. This was probably the most hopeful year for Bills fans since the 4 in a row trips. As the season went on and Von went down, I just had that feeling this team wasn't going to be good enough this year. Turns out, I was right. -

Excellent post. I don't even have anything to add. You said it all. Enjoy your break and time to decompress from this. -
I’m over this defensive scheme. Bring in a new DC.
Billz4ever replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I seriously almost turned the TV off on the 3rd and 4 where they sent the big blitz and the DBs were all at least 10 yards off the ball. -

It's almost criminal having to watch Josh out there often getting immediate pressure and running for his life with a 4 or even 3-man rush against our starting O-line and our D not even sniffing Burrow with three of their starters out. -

If you keep losing with the same guys making the calls, what are you supposed to do? Dorsey is just in over his head right now and wasn't ready to make the jump to OC yet. His play calling quite often tells me he doesn't understand situational football and what needs to be called on certain downs and distances. He's always talking about balance, but who gives a crap about balance if you have something that's working? You keep doing the thing that's working until the other team can stop it. He's also too quick to abandon the run, which makes his repeated calls about the need to be balanced all the more puzzling. I've had my problems with Frazier long before this game, but if this game doesn't demonstrate the problems with his defensive philosophy and preparation, I don't know what does. -
McBeane's investment in the D Line last five seasons
Billz4ever replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It's like Frazier thought it was 3rd and 20 and he was going to bring the blitz, which is fine, but not when it was 3rd and 4. I told the wife exactly what was going to happen there and of course, it did, exactly. -

I think the problems start with McD. While McD being let go anytime soon is probably highly unlikely in my opinion, I just don't think he's a guy that will ever reach the promise land. If he had a problem with how Frazier was running the D today, then he should've stepped in. The fact he didn't tells me he was OK with the schemes that had our DB's playing 10 yards off the ball on 3rd and 4. -

If there was ever an example needed to demonstrate how stats can be deceiving and often do not tell the whole story, it's that one. -
It's a very highly unlikely scenario and ultimatum in the first place, so I don' t see that happening. If it were to somehow ever happen, I don't see McD as the type of guy willing to throw them under the bus to save his skin.

Groot was effective and complimentary when we had Von. Once Von went down and his double-teams went away, the weaknesses in this line were exposed. -

And to add insult to injury, it was against an O-line down 3 starters. We had all our O-line starters and Josh was running for his life. They were even getting pressure by rushing just 3.
