Sucks we are in that position, but I can legit see it happening based on need.

The funniest thing I see every year is how people go into the draft saying we need to draft this guy or that guy. That mindset completely misses the reality that the draft is a very fluid situation depending on what other teams do and who's still on the board. It's like all this talk about the Bills drafting Robinson. They guy could literally go in the top 10 and then what? They've hitched their wagon to this idea and the thought that particular player may not even be available has never crossed their minds. Beane must have 100 different contingency plans based on scenarios as they play out and also based on who they have first round grades for. I'm just going with the flow at this point until the picks happen and unless Beane does something incredibly dumb, not much point worrying too much about it now. P.S. Breese is the better option over Smith.

I put that in the same category as the people who want to do things like trade Oliver. I'm not against the idea, but what teams are jumping at the chance to trade for an undersized DT who's been underperforming and is owed $11 million bucks this year? They make it sound like it's a simple task and they don't know what Beane is waiting for. SMH.

Florio raises an excellent question:

What allowed Cincy the ability to get all the guys they've got there? As Beane said, he doesn't want the team to be bad to the point where they are able to be in the draft position to be able to do that. This complaining about past drafts is like crying over spilled milk. It accomplishes nothing and is looking backwards instead of looking forwards, since that's all that matters now. It's utterly hilarious to watch people complain about the Bills off-season moves. It's like they're totally oblivious to the cap situation and act like the Bills have $50 million to throw at the biggest named FAs every single year and then they get mad if the Bills aren't signing them. Complete disconnect from reality. -

Nobody was complaining about the line the first quarter of the season last year when the Bills looked like world beaters and let's not kid ourselves...many people thought Davis was going to breakout last year. Pretending things didn't happen like White coming back mid-season from ACL and Miller going down with an ACL among all the other injuries this team played through last season is certainly ignoring other factors that have played into where we are with the cap and the production we've gotten from high dollar contract guys being either on the sideline or trying to return from injury. -

It's easy to be Monday morning QB while also ignoring other factors that play into that. Also, not sure that has to do with the asinine comments of Florio, who clearly lacks a grasp of the facts in the matter of Josh's contract and his willingness to restructure to free up cap space. -

That's what makes you supporting the nonsense Florio is spouting all the more strange. If Josh doesn't restructure, NONE of the new signings that have happened this off season transpire and Beane has to release players to get under the cap. The roster gets worse, not better. Josh understands this. Florio is talking out his backside as usual. So your contention is that Beane isn't doing what he can with the available resources he has this offseason to improve the O-line? -

But we both know Beane and McD aren't going anywhere minus the team self-destructing and missing the postseason. You make the problems the team has bigger than they are. They have made strides to improve the line in FA and will probably take it a step further in the draft. You're talking about an offense that was one of the best in the league despite the poor line play. -

I do question the FO at times, but I'm not going to be that guy who was ecstatic about our FA signings and then act like I wanted that money invested in the O-line instead after the fact. That's simply not a legitimate argument that can be made. We didn't know Von was going to go down to a season ending injury and have a ridiculous number of other injuries the team had to deal with all season long. This was the same team that looked unbeatable the first part of the season. Nobody was questioning the line then and nobody expected the line to be as bad as it was down the stretch. -

You're Monday morning QBing. If you were good with those moves at the time but souring on them now because they didn't win, that's not fair at all and is quite hypocritical to say the least. -
Florio raises an excellent question:

How is he 100% correct when it's not even a logical statement? He's implying Josh signed with the Bills for less and he's somehow now making less money because he restructured. Factually inaccurate on both fronts. Josh's contract reflects what the market demanded at the time. Josh isn't losing out on any money restructuring either. -

In that case, I'd rather see the investment in the O-Line, which is actually what KC did. I don't understand these talking heads that always want to compare us to KC, but then completely miss on what makes KC's offense tick. It certainly is not their WR corps, especially since they traded their best one away. I hope he's been getting some good rehab on that elbow. -

Wait, so his argument is to have less cap space to work with and as a result, have a less talented roster? Weird. Pretty sure Josh would tell this clown to not even pretend to think he speaks for him. Josh understands that the more cap space Beane has to work with, the more possibilities he has to improve the roster. If Josh were selfish, he'd think like this fool is talking. Josh wants to win. -
Kiper and McShay mock draft ???????????????????
Billz4ever replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just wishful thinking really. Same with Downs at 59. If either of them are still on the board at those times, they'd be great value picks. Johnson still there would be shocking really. Downs should be off the board mid-second. -
And that's precisely what we should be hoping he does rather than reach at 27.

Kiper and McShay mock draft ???????????????????
Billz4ever replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't hate these picks, but I don't love them either. I really don't see Downs falling to the end of the second. Johnson in the 3rd would be great though I'd be surprised he's still on the board there too. Picking late round really sucks. -
Agreed. A 5' 10" QB in this league is at a serious disadvantage from the jump. To put it into perspective, look at a Bills O huddle. Diggs is 6 feet tall. Look how Josh still seems to tower over everyone except the tallest o line. In this league, being able to see over your lineman and it being less likely your balls are batted down by 6' 2"+ d-line and LBs simply cannot be discounted.

UPDATED - v3.0 (FINAL) on p.13 - Gunner's 2023 Mock Draft
Billz4ever replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kiper's latest has us taking Simpson in the first and Downs in the second. I wouldn't hate that, but don't really love it either. I don't personally see Downs falling to the end of the second round anyway. -
Hopefully he means on our roster after the addition we make on April 27th or 28th because there's not a name on our roster that inspires confidence at MLB right now.
-
Yeah, the reality is this...highly unlikely Campbell will still be on the board at #59. If we want him, we will either have to get him in the first, trade out of the first and gamble he'll still be there if we can get into the early second, or use #27 on another position and trade up in the second round.
-
Jalen Carter is the JaMarcus Russell of Defensive Tackles.
-
Taking a RB in the first round is already questionable as it is. Trading up to take a RB in the first round is just plain dumb. Why do people think it's still 1995? You don't need stud RBs to win a SB and the past decade of SB winners demonstrates that. There is just no value in taking RBs that high. If it's not Robinson still there at #27, then forget about it.
