Kurt Warner breaks down the 4th down. Allen error?
Billz4ever replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
All this talk about protection left or right makes no sense to me. Had they had the right protection called and Allen threw the ball to Kincaid that he dropped they'd be talking about protection? The bottom line is Josh beat the blitz and the receiver dropped the ball. -

What? Football is all about making guesses based on tendencies and what you think the other team's offense or defense is going to try to do. You're now literally Monday morning quarterbacking and had Kincaid done his dang job, this isn't even being discussed except how great a play Allen made. -

So your knock is they made an educated guess based on what they saw all game and chose wrong? Josh might have a cape, but he doesn't have a crystal ball. And they basically had a 50/50 chance on getting it right and Josh still beat the blitz and put a very catchable ball where only his receiver could get it. -

They already explained why the protection was called as it was. It was based on what they had been showing earlier in the game. -
Dalton Kincaid- why so underwhelming this season?

I still don't get where Coleman fits in this offense the way Brady calls it and it seems like they don't know either. We ran that fade to Coleman on the 3rd down before the 4th down TD to Samuel and my heart was in my throat. Josh doesn't throw great fade jump balls and that was against McDuffie, who was is great position. -
Beane would probably trade them all for later round picks anyway, but I guess that's a way to avoid 1st round busts is to not have any 1st round picks, lol.

I'd take him just to get him away from KC and it would be an upgrade for us. KC's D clearly carried them again this year and unlike our defensive schemes which always seem to be a step behind and blitzes that don't fool anybody, his actually work and disrupt the opposing offense. Our crap D held Reid to 21 earlier this year and they were 15th in the league points/game. Heck, 2 teams in their division scored more points than they did. It's not happening, but one of the best things that could happen to indirectly help us would be for Spags to leave.

So you want a clear downgrade at the most important position on the field and hope it works out? Have we gotten to the point were we're taking Allen so much for granted now that we think franchise QBs grow on trees? Purdy looked quite pedestrian at times this season. I don't think he comes with a cape. Take him out of the NFC west and playing in domes and good weather for most of the season, and plopping him down in Buffalo probably doesn't end well either.

I'm not signing Groot when the assumption is he's going to be wanting #1 edge money.

*until the playoffs which is the caveat basically every single year.

I don't even think we'd have the cap space to take on both Meyers' and Crosby's contracts. And why would LV be looking to trade their best WR away in a season where they will most likely be drafting their new franchise QB? Reed is a possibility, but it would have to be an enticing offer to GB to come off a productive receiver they have for cheap for two more seasons. Doubt Miami would even think about trading Waddle within the division to a team they're chasing, not to mention his contract is a nightmare with how it balloons after 2026. Pickens would be a locker room problem. The writing is already on the wall with that guy. Watson is another possibility, but you run into the same problem with him that you do with Reed. They have him on the cheap for next season. I could only see the trade if they already know they don't intend to re-sign him, which I don't know why they wouldn't unless he asking price is too high. Kupp is possible, but he turns 32 this year and with the Rams being in contention, I don't know why they would want to move him unless they see him as washed.

I would prefer Knox, who's a better blocker than Dalton anyway, than having a gimped Kincaid on the field. I had more faith in Knox to make a big catch this season. He had that amazing one-hander against Detroit. Another decision I'll never understand.

And Josh was still able to throw a very catchable ball and hit his receiver in the hands. That's what makes not converting on that play even harder to swallow. Your all-world QB still beats the blitz with instant pressure in his face. The hardest part was already done. Just catch the dang ball.
-
And the crazy part is Josh still had it beat even though it was the perfect blitz call and got instant pressure. At some point, someone other than Josh needs to make the clutch play for us.
-
No, and it wasn't a good pass. Much too flat. For that play to work it has to have air under it and allow Keon to make the jump ball. I was not a fan of throwing at McDuffie, especially on low percentage throws like that. McDuffie was in great position as well.
-
Brady didn't bring his A game either. The infatuation with the sneak/tush push was maddening. Some of the other play calling was very questionable too including the fade to Coleman on the 3rd down against McDuffie before the 4th down toss to Samuel. I couldn't believe what I was watching on that play.
-
LOL. I think they actually learned from the Rodgers one because I can't remember who it was against, but they had Keon and I think Mack out on the field as defenders instead of just some short DBs.
-
Josh hit a receiver in the hands with the ball. Kincaid was open too.
-
Chiefs would've needed a TD if we scored a TD and XP. We probably run the ball a couple times and don't leave any time left considering we had TO's. You'd probably be taking about a hail mary attempt by KC.
-
You mean Kincaid dropped what was not a super difficult pass on 4th down with Josh having immediate pressure in his face.
-
Outside of the first two drives where it was pretty clear Josh was dealing with some nerves, I think he played a pretty good game against a top tier defense that was disguising blitzes and changing coverages that would confuse many good NFL QBs. We were in position to tie or take the lead with 2:00 left in the game and had our 1st round TE caught what was not an overly tough catch for an NFL receiver, I believe the game is either going to overtime, or we're winning in regulation.
-
Besides being a headcase, he's another Diggs who will complain if he's not getting the touches he thinks he should get.
-
Not too many QBs recognize what's happening on the snap and are able to make that throw. At least not with any power or accuracy. I would even say probably many end up taking a sack there.
-
Had Kincaid made that catch, I think the game is at least going to overtime, but with my rose-colored glasses, feel we could've put it in the endzone with basically no time left.
