When you're ripping off 20 yard runs, how is that any different than throwing 20 yard passes?
-
So they have to lose for us to question why they were allowing GB to rip of 10, 20+ yard runs repeatedly and playing nickel when the formations said run? And why Frazier was playing like he was scared to death of GBs receivers, when their receivers are their weak spot? That game was a Crosby missed FG and fairly weak OPI call from being tied. You're making it sound like we were comfortably ahead. We weren't. It was the way WE were playing that was the reason we didn't know the game was over until Crosby missed the FG.

I wouldn't exactly call ripping off 10, 20+ yards runs dink/dunks. A fairly weak OPI call and a missed FG were the only thing keeping this game from being tied. GBs weakness is their receivers. You make them beat you, not give up the equivalent of long pass plays on the ground because your play calling is too rigid. There as no reason to be in nickel all night, especially when the other team isn't passing much and their formations show run down after down. What we saw last night was a form of prevent defense, except they were giving up huge chunks of yards on the ground instead of through the air.

Dolphins and Jets are interested in trading for Bradley Chubb

A puzzling move for sure. It's a move a team that has decided to throw the rest of the season would make. If that's what they're doing, they are beyond clueless. -

Yep, let Josh be Josh and do what he does. Indecisiveness there is what got him and it ended badly. The run was there and he knew it was. -

Definitely very un-Josh like this season. On the INTs it almost seemed like he wanted to run, but hesitated and decided he'd better not and then threw a bad ball. It seemed as though the line was in constant pass rush mode even though the formations GB were in still said run. Linemen were taking themselves out of their gap assignments trying to get upfield and that made opening holes easy for the GB line and RBs. Happened repeatedly in the 2nd half. I thought Motor and Cook looked fantastic. We should've been feeding them all night long. -

Oh, you're still in denial about last year. How's the coping coming along? -

And? We beat them last year too. Different story when the chips were down, right? Poor D coaching decisions cost us the game. -

If they play like that against the Chiefs, they will lose. That's just a plain and simple fact. -

The Packers were fortunate? What...that we played pretty bad in the second half? That performance on both sides of the ball the 2nd half isn't going to get it done against good teams. The Packers are not a good team right now. -

And against a good team, that performance isn't going to get it done. The Packers are not a good team right now and that win was ugly. -

Load up on the run? How about simply not playing Nickel against a team with a less than stellar receiving corp? This game was a missed FG and a close OPI call from being tied. -

I'm sure you're not since you'll just pretend you never said it or try and explain how it's "different" this time. I'm counting on it. -

The Aaron Rodgers and Packers that have lost 4 in a row and are 3-5 on the season. Shouldn't have to be said, but they aren't a good team right now. We were literally playing against special teamers at LB the second half. -

You just said, it didn't matter if it was run or pass, so whether it's the run tonight or playing the wrong D against the pass against KC and Mahomes in 13 seconds, you can bet your butt this will be thrown in your face. -

So according to you if Rodgers was ripping off those yards it wouldn't matter because they didn't score. Terrible logic because against better teams, they would've scored and just to prove my point this thread us being bookmarked to be later revisited. I can't wait. -

And yet AGAIN you are talking about the outcome rather than the ease with which they moved the ball. You have the luxury of knowing the ultimate outcome, but that was ridiculous what we witnessed tonight. -

My mistake, not lukewarm. Frigid like a Bills game in January. -

Muted for being clueless but keep making excuses for a defense that didn't adapt and was scared of that receiving Corp. I'm sure you were saying it wasn't the ridiculous play calling that led to the 13 seconds fiasco too. -

What kind of lukewarm IQ must you have to keep responding to someone who has literally told you that you are ignored? If that was what was working for them you'd better bet your butt they would, especially when the yardage they were ripping off was the same as pass plays would be. You must have been watching a different game. -

Once again you are comparing the outcome of the drives instead of focusing on how easy they moved the ball. Not even remotely the same thing at all. -

Mahomes can make those throws and run the ball. The D was lackluster tonight and the D play calling did not match what the O was doing. You play to the strengths and weaknesses of the other team. GBs receivers are not good yet we were treating them like it was Diggs on their side. Their formations repeatedly showed pass and that's what you play for. If you have the better secondary, you make their receivers beat you, not play nickel and let their RBs rip off runs that were equivalent to long passes. That's playing scared instead of playing to your strengths and daring the other team to put their weakness up against a stronger secondary. I see you've quit trying to debate on substance and decided to switch to ad hominem. Welcome to ignore. -

Billz4ever replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
At what point in any of that did you think they were passing? Their formations screamed run and if you're that scared of THAT receiving corps, who's essentially a bunch of nobodies, why are you coaching in this league? Yes, it was strange and seemed like they weren't too concerned about the clock, but what is our coaching staff so afraid of? Their receivers are their weakness. If they are effectively running, make those receivers beat you. No need to play nickel D when the formation screams run just on the off chance that one play they go play action. Have some faith in the secondary against a weak receiving Corp. -

And that same pass is something that Mahomes can do as well. If the D plays like they did tonight the next time they play KC, we will lose. Let's leave it at that. -

You're lumping multiple drives together where they either didn't convert or came away with a fg. Bottom line is the run game was just as effective as a pass game there and the defense did not adjust accordingly. If the offense's weakness is their receiving Corp, you make THEM beat you and plug up run. You shouldn't have to play nickel defense every down if the receivers are the weakness of the other team.
