  1. Perhaps a case of a rent-a-cop abusing his power.....BUT if a man with a tazer tells me to leave because I am violating university policy by not showing my ID, I leave. Then I complain about it later. The kid was making a martyr out of himself on purpose, shouting all the nonsense about the Patriot Act. He knew someone was taping it, he knew there where lots of witnesses. He was over-dramatizing it for some personal vendetta he had against campus security, probably for busting up his underage drinking party/date rape fest at his local frat house a few days earlier.
  2. First of all, I was being sarcastic about becoming a professional gambler. This is what tempts me to start. This is what scares me away. I think there was a series of episodes on Beverly Hills 90210 where Brandon Walsh became addicted to betting on the Lakers. In most cases, I feel like life is just one big gamble. You gamble when you select a career, you gamble when you pick a spouse, you gamble every time you get in a car. Most of the risks I take are low risks, which I guess makes me a grinder and not a rounder. But I really have been thinking that it's stupid to blow money on entertainment (movies, dinner, drinks, etc.) when I could just use that same money and perhaps make something back on it.
  3. I read this thread the other day and became inspired. I have never really been a gambler, but there are so many threads on this board talking about betting on games, it's really sparked my curiosity. I really would like to know if any of you actually have a net gain in winnings over the course of a month/year/gambling period. Is it true that you never hear about the big losses, only about the big wins? I'm tempted to become a professional sports gambler, but I don't want to end up like this guy I know who was embezzling money from a Youth Basketball League to support his habit. He eventually was caught and his life was ruined.
  4. The HBO show they had several years back was excellent IMHO, but there were only like 6 episodes. I'm excited about the movie.
  5. Satisfying in relation to the first five lousy episodes. Not that good, but good enough to make me keep watching. I guess they've got me where they want me.
  6. You should tell him he is the dick for drinking on the job and not helping you.
  7. Last night's episode was pretty satisfying to watch, especially considering how sucky the first five episodes of this season have been. I totally thought Jack was going to wimp out, and then he goes and cuts the kidney.
  8. When she finally farts it sounds pretty juicy.
  9. If anyone is wondering, I just called Verizon customer service and they said that I can do this without a problem.
  10. This is a really shocking statement coming from someone like you.
  11. I want to keep the entire number, area code included. I already own it.
  12. According to what I was told at the Verizon store, Verizon will give you an activated phone with a temporary number. Then you call customer service and have it ported to the new number. If I get a new phone, it will be given a 716 number as the temporary area code and the woman wasn't sure if a 615 number could be ported to it.
  13. I am looking to switch from Sprint to Verizon and I want to keep my current number (615 area code) but I currently reside in the Buffalo area (716). I asked the woman at the Verizon store and she said it might not be possible and I'd have to ask customer service. I have emailed Verizon's customer service but they have not responded to me. My next course of action is just to call them, but I was wondering if anyone has ever done this themselves?
  14. Why do people even bother with the drive thru line? It's always long when I go there, but inside the place there is no wait.
  15. I think a lot of the scenes were scripted. They had multiple camera angles in situations that were supposed to be "spontaneous". How could the bed and breakfast scene not be scripted? There's no way they did that in one take. Another example was the frat boy RV scene. There is no way a group of drunk frat boys remain completely oblivious to the camera for that long of a time. Anyway, regardless of what was scripted and what was genuine improv, I still think the movie was absolutely hilarious. I really thought that it was going to be a big disappointment considering all the hype, but this really lived up to the hype. The only thing I'm wondering is this, why did they censor Borat's package but not Azamat's? Is Cohen too famous to have his wang on the big screen?
  16. PREACH IT!!!!!! Another thing, if you're on a flight that is 1 hour or less, why must you go to the bathroom as soon as you get on the plane? You can't hold it for an hour? Didn't you go before you boarded? Unless you have a medical condition, there is no excuse for that.
  17. You took the words right out of my mouth. I love the people who neatly fold their sport coat and put it in the overhead compartment, only to have it crushed and wrinkled by everyone else's bag.
  18. Don't your parents still live in the area?
  19. After my first visit to Pure Platinum in Fort Erie, I asked my friend "Are there no attractive women in Canada?"
  20. Listening to him on the radio recently during the field house pregame show, his voice sounded slurred. It sounded like someone sounds after they have a stroke. So maybe his health isn't what it used to be.
  21. We got electricity back today at 11 AM, and oh how sweet it is.
  22. Update: It's Tuesday morning, I'm at UB North Campus because the school opened today and I have to teach a class in about 30 minutes. Still no power at my house. The day after my uncle purchased his generator, it was stolen from his backyard. I really would enjoy the power being on, especially so I can stop having to check and and see if the basement is flooded.
  23. The generator my uncle bought was purchased from a man who drove from Amherst to Columbus, OH and bought all 11 generators they had at Home Depot.
