Really? You've been a "fan" since the mid-60's and THIS is the game that pushes you over the edge? Good God. I don't know what's worse...the fact that you made this post as one of those "oh poor me" cries for attention that teenagers use on Facebook, or the fact that by simply replying here I'm giving you that attention. I'm starting to think it's the latter, and now I need a shower.

How Much of a "Hometown" Crowd Can We Expect in the Motor City
gmp3 replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they announced yesterday that 67,000 tickets had been distributed (65,000 capacity). They anticipate some no-shows with free tickets, but it sounds like it should be a full house...or darn close. Living in Ohio, I got 4 tickets and I'll be there. Have to leave work a little early, but it'll be worth it. I hope they bring "Shout" with them...it is a "home" game after all. -
What happens if Fitz is voted to the pro bowl?

If Fitz makes the Pro Bowl, then the Mayans were right. -
What song best explains how you feel about Buffalo Bills football?
gmp3 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer by George Thorogood. -
Two seasons ago, my team name was "With Another Man's Nuts". So when someone asked whoever I was playing that week, they had to answer, "I'm playing With Another Man's Nuts".

When I saw this topic, I was almost certain that the link would be to this cover: http://www.sicovers.com/Product.aspx?pid=1123 This is my all-time favorite, and this one with Tasker on the cover is probably a close second: http://www.sicovers.com/Product.aspx?pid=969

I think we learned (again) that the game is won and lost up front. I like the middle of our O-line, but we need to improve at tackle. And I think we learned that we need some bona fide DEs. I think we learned that DBs are only as opportunistic as their pass rush. I think we learned that Kyle Williams is the real deal and can finally get us past the stigma that "high motor guy" usually means "mediocre". I think we learned that Fred Jackson can be a featured back, but needs carries to get into the flow of the game (as so many other runners do in this league). I think we learned that Chan might have been a good choice after all. And, most importantly, I think that I learned that after a rough start, I could enjoy being a Bills fan again!

Thanks for the insights, Bill. As an out-of-town Bills fan without DirecTV, I look forward to your recaps to give me a fans perspective. And from what I can tell from talking to those back in Buffalo, you're usually pretty spot on. Looking forward to more in the offseason.

Stand in line with me, to punch NBC in the face!
gmp3 replied to Lv-Bills's topic in Off the Wall Archives
We've got MSNBC in HD on Time Warner in Northwest Ohio. My reaction was being a little mad a first that it wasn't on the "main" network, but think about it for a second from a programming standpoint: the game runs close to 3 hrs and would essentially take most of their total primetime coverage. NBC is trying to appeal to the broadest cross-section of people in prime time on the main network for the Olympics. Now, I'm a big hockey fan, and I did get to see the entire game live in HD so I got no beef. My wife was in the other room watching the skiing, ice dancing, etc. Regardless of how you feel about sports, when it's the Olympics, more causal sports fans (and non-sports fans) will watch for the stories, Bode getting gold, ice dancing, and so on. Now, if that's a medal game, then yes, the hockey game should be on NBC in prime time (and I bet the gold medal game will be). And yes, they showed a whole game on NBC in the afternoon...but that's completely different than prime time. Different audiences, different ad rates, etc. Basically, Sunday afternoon is a programming throw-away. Anyway, just my perspective. In the grand scheme, it makes some sense not having it on NBC main. Regardless, it was a freaking awesome game! -
I know I've done much more reading than posting, but I visit this site at least a few times a day while on the road. I was honestly floored with some of the insane comments in the Tim Graham threads....I mean, asking someone to out a source? That was just nuts. Thanks SDS for keeping this board civil and giving Bills fans a place to discuss the team and vent...within reason. Your message was well crafted, and I'm glad you'll take action to remove those who can't play by the rules.

Funny you should mention that. I just called Ralph. Here was our conversation: Ralph: "Hello, this is Ralph." Me: "Hi, Ralph. Got a minute? I've got a personnel move I'd like to discuss with you." R: "Sure. Did Peters finally come to camp today?" M: "No, I wish. But the good news is that we still have an Oakland Raiders cast-off to plug in at left tackle, so it's not a complete loss." R: "Good to hear. I think we may need to give that Peters some more money. So it must be that we've signed Evans to an extension, right? That's a smart way to spend our money. I really like that youngster...he could be something special." M: "No, sorry. That's not it, either. It involves a veteran QB who might be available." R: (In the background) "MARY! Did you change the channel? You know I love Matlock! Put it back on Nick at Nite!" M: "Ralph, are you still there?" R: (In the background) "MARY! Where are my reading glasses?" M: "Ralph. RALPH!" R: "Who is this, anyway?" M: "It's not important. What is important is that you have a chance to get a QB who will be a first ballot Hall of Famer!" R: "How did you get our phone number?" M: "Google. Now listen, this guys team will trade him so that he's not a distraction to their young QB who has showed some promise and they're trying to develop." R: "Don't we have a young QB who we're trying to develop?" M: "Well, yes. But that's beside the point. Look, this guy will pack the stadium this year! He's a guaranteed draw!" R: "But aren't most of our home games already sold out? And don't we have some 54,000 season tickets?" M: "Uh, yes. That's true. But let me tell you a little more about this guy...." R: "Go ahead." M: "Well, we can probably get him for a second round pick next year." R: "Boy, that sounds a little steep." M: "And he's got a cannon for an arm." R: "Well, that sounds promising! Jim Kelly had a cannon of an arm, and I liked him. Is there a downside?" M: "There may be a few small things..." R: (In background) "MARY! Where's my pudding?" M: "RALPH!" R: "Right. Where were we? Oh, the downside on this fella." M: "Remember that cannon of an arm I was talking about?" R: "I do." M: "Well, on occasion it's more like a Civil War cannon...it'll shoot pretty far, but you're not quite sure if it will be on target." R: "Oh, that's not very good. You know, I was just a wee lad during the Civil War..." M: "And he has this tendency to throw into double and sometimes triple coverage." R: "That's not very good. Maybe he can be coached out of that." M: "Oh, and he's 38 years old." R: "Well, that's not young for a QB." M: "And one more thing...it'll cost you around $12 million a year to sign him." R: (Choking on pudding sound in background) M: "Ralph, you OK?" R: "Yes, I'm fine. I think we're done here." M: "So, what do you think?" R: "I appreciate you sharing this with me, Mr. Anonymous Stranger, I do. But Matlock is coming on, and I have to go." M: "So your answer is..." R: "...DO NOT WANT!" (click) So, there you go. Ralph does not want, either. And I would not make any of that up.

To quote Peter King: "He might belong in the Hall of Very Good, but not the Hall of Fame." I like John Lynch, but he is NOT a Hall of Famer.

Of course the QB plays a role in a wideouts success...but I would say only to a point. T.O. was great in S.F. with slightly-above average QB's, including Jeff Garcia. Tim Brown had a great career in Oakland with a litany of average QB's. Moulds was good with average and below average QB's...but better than Reed? I mean, Reed had great games when Frank Reich was throwing him the ball as well, and while I bow at the alter of Reich like eveyone else, he was an average QB who managed games well. Just a school of thought. Interesting topic, but I vote Reed. It's too early to form a long-term opinion on Evans. His rookie year compares to Peerless Price's good season, and we know how he ended up. So, does Evans become a Reed or a Price? I hope he'll be closer to a Reed, and I think this is the season we find that out.

Again....DO NOT WANT! And I can hear the cheese-heads saying the same thing about J.P.! The Bills are finally on the right path to grow the team organically...why trade for a 38 year old QB who's looking at one, maybe two years??? Maybe we should see if Vince Ferragamo is available. With all due respect to BLZFAN4LIFE...this thread should have been at LEAST a 9 on the Wallbash scale.

I did not know those pages existed...of course, I really didn't go out of my way to look for them, either! Serves me right for not asking earlier! The pda page for Bills Beat is perfect. Looks great on my phone as well! If the plans are to just port the pda page, then that would work just fine. Again, thanks!
