I just took a quick read at the personal conduct policy and it says the NFL can suspend for basically anything lol. Honestly. But more poignantly, it says "assault" and "even if the conduct does not result in a criminal conviction".

If the NFL can suspend you for something that happens in the off-season, why couldn't they suspend you for something that happens at practice?

It really is. That ends in handcuffs for anyone not in a sports uniform.

He was caught on film today striking opposing players while violently swinging a helmet. Myles Garrett was given a 6 game suspension for similar behavior, though that was in a game and not a joint practice.
