  1. You nailed it. It’s really become a narcissistic habit. People like to see the totals tally up. It’s less about helping the charity and more about “look at what we did!”.
  2. I miss the characters of the 70’s and 80’s. Guys in jeans, cowboy hats, coaches in suits, etc.
  3. I disagree. The play shows a different shows. Lynch first takes a step toward the inside (watch closely). He clearly thought his responsibility would be middle protection and only after the edge rusher was untouched did he go outside. Also the other side had 1 on 1 and the center looked confused on who to block. It was a weird play all around but Marshawn saved it. I agree the confusion was bad in the Bills game. .
  4. No offense, but that’s ridiculous. The RB is there to pick up any pass rusher that is making his way toward the QB. Not just a delayed blitzer. The first rule of rb pass blocking is protect the QB at all costs. Here is an example of Marshawn Lynch picking up a DE (on no delay), when his LT inexplicably doubles a DT. You can see Marshawn originally take one step toward the middle of the pocket (expecting to guard a rusher from coming up the middle), but then when he sees the free rusher on the outside he stops and picks him up. Good move. There is no doubt that Dawkins whiffed, but that doesn’t excuse Singletary. He is there to help with whiffs.
  5. My mother has worked in Neurology for nearly 50 years. As soon as she saw that she said that’s either head trauma or a spinal issue as the nerves to his hand were clearly not working.
  6. “back injury”
  7. It got merged into another thread and got lost in the pages but Mike Florio made some interesting comments about McDermott too. He compared McDermott to John Fox in Denver. John Fox had a great record in Denver. 12-4 or 13-3 every year. Yet they fired him because he couldn’t take the team over the hump. So they fire him (after a 12-4 season) and hire Kubiak. Then Kubiak wins a Super Bowl in his first year. Sometimes a change of coach is what you need. Not saying the Bills are there yet, but there is certainly precedent for it.
  8. It was absolutely on both Dawkins and Singletary both. The excuse that Singletary got confused is not a good one.
  9. That was textbook. Great block.
  10. Anotjer poster was saying he couldn’t make the cutback because there was 1 defender in the vicinity. I was saying that’s ridiculous, because if that’s true, then he’s not an NFL running back. But I do think he can make that guy miss.
  11. He did. Singletary is there get overflow. There is a reason he is back there on a pass play.
  12. I think you missed the context of the conversation. This started as talking about a massive cutback lane he had and didn’t take. It wasn’t an attack on Singletary, but rather an example of plays he does miss at times. Of course not. And im not saying Singletary is no good either.
  13. Huh? The photo is of a clear cutback lane (that several other posters saw as well), and all it would have taken is Singletary making 1 guy miss. If you can’t make 1 guy miss, then you’re not an NFL quality running back.
  14. To possibly answer your question of why they do it - Good running backs and proper positioning can make defenses pay when they overload a side. One cutback and they’re gone. Example;
  15. There is a reason why they are backups. Need the RB’s to block better as well.
  16. If your running back can’t beat a DE on a cut back then you don’t have a running back. You have a fullback. Do you realize that you basically just said: “Jee he had to beat 1 defender. If he has a single defender near him, then he just has to fall down for 2 yards”? If he can’t beat this guy one on one then we have serious RB issues. Most players dream of one on ones like this.
  17. Not sure what you mean. Being average in YAC (his was 2.3 and the mean of the league was 2.2) does not mean that he isn’t missing opportunities for longer plays. Did you look at the photo in the tweet I posted?
  18. Yes im aware… I posted All-22 photos a few pages ago. It’s extremely rare what Hyde did. The reason the Hyde INT was so impressive is because he got there that fast. The catch itself wasn’t incredibly difficult - it was an over the shoulder grab. Getting there was the true feat.
  19. Speed always wins when you don’t scheme properly. It was a poor defensive call. 9 of 11 defenders in front of the sticks and 3 of those 9 covering empty field. There wasn’t 2 safeties in the area. One was on one side of the field and one was on the other. It’s a lot to ask the far side safety to get to the other side in time. That’s why what Hyde did in the playoffs against NE was so impressive - it’s rare. So we essentially called a play where if ANY deep routes are ran, it would be 1 on 1 against a backup safety. Bad idea (as we found out the hard way).
  20. Running Back could use an upgrade. The line looks worse than it is because the RB’s are not taking the opportunities available to them. Barkley cuts this back and races the safety for a TD.
  21. We weren’t talking about Edmunds covering Waddle 50 yards downfield. We were talking about the middle of the field where the poster thought Hill was. About 15 yards or so. Yes he was looking at Waddle because the Dolphins put him in conflict due to the poor play design. But he wasn’t in the middle of the field. No where close to it. He ran a corner right near the sideline. I said post before because I was thinking about Waddle. Taron and Edmunds were in the middle and Hill was never close to them. This left Waddle 1 on 1 with our backup safety. The problem with this play call is that it’s so easily beatable. If the Dolphins call ANY deep shot, we lose the down. McD/Frazier must have been betting on all short routes. .
