I have a very hard time envisioning McDermott holding up a Lombardi Trophy. I hope i’m wrong because I don’t think he’s going anywhere.
-
Your “gotcha” is that he didn’t play well in one half of one game, months after his bad streak of play?

Any other conclusion than this is on the coaches, is just wrong

We have never tried that QB sneak play. Pushjng out of the endzone, when the Vikings d-line had been abusing our interior o-line all day, is different than QB sneaking in the middle of the field. -

Allen should have been in shotgun in the endzone. Trying to QB sneak there was just awful. -
Allen has beaten Mahomes and that staff 2 of the last 3 times they played.

Nothing to do with the Chiefs. It’s comparing great player to great player. Human nature.

NFL Week 10 - Vikings at Bills post game thread
Einstein replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t care about losses as much as I care about how the team played. I am more proud of a gutsy loss with numerous starters out (vs Miami) than I am about a win that we we’re getting blown out or barely held on to get (Ravens). -
Yes I seem to remember him throwing an INT against us with the game on the line just a few weeks ago.

Teams need spectacular plays to beat us by 3

McDermott could have taken Jefferson out of the game by double teaming him. He didn’t. -
Talked about last week. This thread may interest you:

In the middle of it, Chiefs fans were besides themselves too. But when you step back, zoom out, a few games looks very small. As they should.

Before becoming Mahomes again and leading his team to the AFC Championship game. Mahomes had a 5 game stretch in the middle of the season where these were his performances: 0 TD, 1 INT, 1 Fumble 0 TD, 1 INT, 1 Fumble 1 TD, 1 INT 1 TD, 0 INT 0 TD, 1 INT, 1 Fumble The point? Even the great ones can slump. Play poorly. Lose their mojo. Forget how to read the field. I am far more concerned about the coaching, as some of these coaching mistakes have been happening since day 1 of McDermott’s tenure. But Josh will get better. He will overcome. He will become great again. Mahomes slumped and he came back. So will Allen. Go Bills.

We have the talent to do it. Need better coaching and smarter QB decisions.

Thank you. Couldn’t remember exactly where we were in the game at that moment. -

How many drives are you willing to waste while they experiment with things that may or may not work. Im much more willing to blame McD for not kicking the field goal to go up 20(?) and not doubling Jefferson, than blaming Dorsey for not continuing to run the ball when it wasn’t working. -
The rumors are that Daboll and McD did not get along. That very well could be because Daboll knew what we needed to do and McD wouldn’t allow it. Flores lawsuit mentions that Daboll wanted out of Buffalo even if he didn’t get a head coaching job. He just wanted to be away from McD.

To be fair, we can’t keep running into the back of linemen. He stopped running when it stopped being successful. -

I completely disagree. I think Allen is someone who gets his mojo back by incremental successes. That’s why some people call him streaky. When he is in a rhythm, he is impossible to stop. But when he’s off, you have no idea what will happen. Daboll, whenever Allen started going haywire, would return to quick, short throws. Get him back in a rhythm. Take wins when you can. Take the 20 point lead in the game. -

Allen has been awful. Coaching has been awful. Both are true. -

It’s not something he can learn by his coach saying to cut out turnovers. It’s not like he intended to severely underthrow Davis. Or throw it directly to a defender. -

You quoted an old post. As a coach you have to take everything into consideration and make a decision. Consideration #1: Allen is injured. Consideration #2: Allen hasn’t been playing well. Take those two considerations and the obvious choice to me is “kick the field goal”. If Allen wasn’t injured and Allen was playing normal MVP level, fine, go for it. But he ain’t. And there is no point in pretending that he is. So kick the field goal, considering the circumstances. -

Yeah he’s Marv Levy. Not Parcells. Or Belichick. Or even Reid.
