How did the Patriots maintain a top team for 17 years?
Einstein replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Patriots had a lower winning % against the AFC than they did against the rest of the NFL. -
I like this signing.

Fins coaches didn't seem to...

This. He has done a wonderful job from the perspective of the owners.

Trent has now been on 4 teams in his 6 year career. He was with the 49ers for 1 year and they chose to let him leave rather than re-sign him for peanuts. While you were watching him with your friend, you saw him catch 9 passes. NINE. The entire season. And that’s why you think it’s a good signing? Sometimes I can’t tell if some of you are being serious or just trolling. Oh wow. So his “I watch every 49er game was impressed with him” was just complete nonsense. He started 1 game and had 9 receptions all season and that’s why New Era came away impressed with. By those standards, he must have thought Kelvin Benjamin was an absolute stud.

I know they were leading AND driving again, when the game ended. -
The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team

The amount of denial in some posters comments is genuinely sad. Yes, they walked right down the field. They went nearly 70 yards in 2 minutes and 26 seconds. You're trying to make it sound better than it was The Bengals had 2 plays on that drive and went 21 yards in those 2 plays. Woopee! They were averaging over 10 yards per play on that drive youre trying to downplay. They were, again, walking right down the field when Damar got injured. Yeah and they were about to be down 14-3 in the first quarter of that first game. The Bengals were physically overwhelming the Bills in that first game. Their TE rubbed Taron's face so hard into the turf that he literally left the game. -
1 year deal. Oofta. Guess that shows what the league thinks of him.

Oh yes, all that snow really hurt their emotions, not to mention the owner having an emergency 6 months before that really was a hit to their delicate sensibilities. 🤦🏻♂️ -

It’s called deductive reasoning, give it a try. It’s a lot better than “I like the bills and therefore will defend anything about them“ -
The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team

You know I meant #1 seed. Arguing one wrong is pathetic No. I’ve said the entire time. “We haven’t looked good since october” … that means we looked good in October and started looking bad in November. That’s what “since” means. We haven’t looked good SINCE October. October was the last time we looked good. English 101. . -
Seriously. Embarrassing.

The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team

You might have been able to make that argument if we didn’t see the rematch. If that first matchup was a one and done game, maybe there is a debate about how the game unfolds. But it wasn’t. We saw what happened in the rematch. Just like the first game, Cinci walked down the field with ease. It was a carbon copy. We we’re so clearly outmatched in that first game that it’s preposterous to me that anyone thinks we somehow completely change from being physically smacked around to winning. I get it. You want to pretend that the first game wouldn’t have gone like the second game (despite starting nearly identical) because it goes against your point. -

If I claim the earth is a square and I relent a little and say “okay maybe it’s flat instead of square”, does that make me right? No, it’s round. NFL history is littered with teams that had a good record but we’re frauds. Just the season before the Titans had the #1 pick and lost their first playoff game. Happens all the time. The Bills haven’t looked good since October. Starting in November we lost to Zach freaking Wilson, fumbled the game away against Minnesota, barely beat Detroit, let Miami put 400+ yards against us, and barely beat a 3rd string QB. -

There’s always an excuse. “But the ball sailed a bit..” ”But the ST’s played bad…” ”But Beasley dropped a pass..” ”But Allen fumbled…” No. The better team just kicked our ass. We hadn’t looked good in months. It was no surprise. -

Any one of us who choose to be honest will admit that we were on our way to being blown out in that first Cinci game too. The Bengals walked down the field with ease on first drive, and were walking down the field again on the second drive before Damar was hurt. They were physically overpowering us and we had no answers for their passing game. You might have been able to make the argument after the first game, but before the playoff rematch, that we would make adjustments. But the playoff game showed that to be incorrect. Had that game played out, we surely would have lost. -

I’m not really sure what you’re talking about. My main point is that the crux of this thread is factually not true. It was not just the Cinci game where we looked bad. We have looked “off” since October. -

It wasn't the last month or so though. It was since October. The extenuating circumstance stuff is just excuses. The co-owner was ill when the Bills were smoking the Rams on national TV to open the season and embarrassing the Titans on MNF. The game being moved to Detroit due to snow had zero effect on how the season played out or the loss in the playoffs and that's a good thing, considering we play in Buffalo. The ONLY extenuating circumstance even remotely plausible is Damar. But even that's nonsense considering athletes often have their best performances after loved ones die. Remember Tiger Woods winning the major after his Dad's passing? Allen throwing for 3(?) TD's after his grandma passing? Brett Favre throwing for 4 TD's after his father passed? etc. The extenuating circumstance stuff is just excuses. The team hadn't looked like a top 5 team since October. The playoff loss really wasn't all that surprising considering their play the 2-3 months preceding it. -

What about the Jets game? Vikings game? Barely beating Detroit? Miami put up over 400 yards against us just a few weeks prior to the playoff game? We were also about to be blown out in Cinci. Remember Cinci carving up our defense down the field and they were driving with ease again before Damar got hurt and the game was ended. To frame a conversation with the context that it was just the Cinci or Miami game is not intellectually honest. The team STRUGGLED for much of the last 2/3rd’s of the season. -

So what? The QB fumbling and passes bouncing off receivers and ST miscues are all part of bad team play. The team did not look right since October but you keep ignoring that point -
6'5 and 250 looks small??
-
I won't pretend to know anything about him from watching him personally, but his scouting report actually means his lack of agility and athleticism.
-
Well, he does have the size McBeane likes. Not sure he has the athleticism though.
-
It was the first result in the google search. Interesting indeed! Speaking of agenda, even your thread example has plenty of Broncos fans saying to trade him. It's about 50/50, which is better than the early season thread (which was 90% doom) but it still shows a fan base that has watched him for 3 straight years and are divided on whether he is any good. That's who you want to spend a 1st round pick on. I love how the most liked response to the pro-keep-him crowd is "It’s crazy how a guy who was mediocre for 2.5 seasons is now seen as untouchable". Indeed. Thankfully, I don't think Beane is stupid enough to make this trade anyway. You also ignored the point about one of the best offensive minds in the NFL being willing to trade him.
-
The fans who have watched him for 2.5 years don’t know what they’re talking about? Okay then…
