  1. On way less touches, yes. If you visit the Colts forum, they were begging Reich to use him more, and they were very sad when he was traded. Numerous posts of “Hope the Bills use him more than we did”.
  2. He kinda was. He was a fan favorite and was touted as having a breakout year this year due to how he played last year. He averaged 5 yards per carry rushing and 8 yards per receptions. That would be tops on our team.
  3. Nope, right Hines. he was stuck behind the best running back in the league last year
  4. This. We don’t even need precision routes from Hines. We just need to get the ball into his hands any way possible and let him make people miss. Josh in the huddle: “Run to the flat, if they’re playing man i’m hitting you. Make someone miss.” This wouldn’t work for 60 plays per game. We all know that. The point is it would work for 10-15 plays per game. That means he is on the field for only 15% or so of the snaps.
  5. There isn’t an offense in the NFL that doesn’t require route memorization, whether via fixed routes or choice routes. The idea that we run a much more sophisticated offense than Minnesota is ridiculous. On top of that, our RB’s route tree is not overly complex. They’re not running post patterns or deep seems. They’re not WR’s. They’re running swings, angles, wheels and flats. The easiest routes in football. Regardless, the point is that they don’t need to know the entire offense to contribute in a minor role (15 plays per game or so).
  6. The idea is to use the player and his talents and abilities quickly, but not in every situation until he learns the offense. Hines would not need to be relied on for 60 plays a game. You wouldn’t need to limit your play calling for every play. How about 15 though? Minnesota is making it work.
  7. They said during the broadcast that when Hockensen was traded to Minnesota, they put him right in whether he knew the plays or not. They would tell him in the huddle “run to the 30 and turn right”. It’s worked.
  8. For example, this interception is not on Dorsey’s play calling. This is on Allen.
  9. After watching that video, a lot of the problem is simply Allen. Dorsey isn’t helping, but my goodness is Allen missing a lot of throws.
  10. I believe it and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of financial issues with the Raiders. 1) They we’re 4 years past due in paying parking revenue to the county. 2) They wanted to re-sign Khalil Mack but didn’t have enough money to fulfill the NFL’s escrow rule on guaranteed contracts. 3) A dozen Raiders employees resigned or were let go over concerns of “financial disorder” in the organization. 4) They reportedly took a $500M loss in 2020. 5) They still owe $65M to Oakland and they had to take out a nearly $1 Billion dollar loan to built their stadium. Imagine the debt payment on that each year. Oh and they had to pay a $350M relocation fee but they didn’t have the money to do so, so the NFL made it a debt service that they now pay, I assume, yearly.
  11. I for on appreciate you telling us about Josh putting his foot down. I had not known that before.
  12. Interesting. Ive never heard that played during kickoff.
  13. Arcane is right. It’s The White Stripes. I don’t know of any rap song played during kickoff.
  14. Klein wasn’t all that and a bag of donuts, but he was at least a donut hole. Or maybe one of those small white powdery donuts in convenience gas station stores. He could stop the run.
  15. I appreciate your contributions John, and hope this isn’t your last post. That being said, you didn’t really give us many answers. You hinted and then played coy.
  16. Studies using league wide, year long or multi year long averages, provide THE context. It is the standard. The basis to which all analytics is predicated. You wanting to use 1 game as an unfounded data point to overrule the standard is the absurd idea.
  17. Post the actual quote. I can’t find it. Then we can discuss it.
  18. Again, this is one of those myths that fans heard once and now can’t let go of. It’s not true. Studies have been done on this. We don’t have to guess anymore. Let’s take a look Sean Clements (a data analyst an NFL team), conducted a study a few years ago. He found that establishing the run does not affect the passing game, or vice versa. The boxplot shows little correlation between volume running and an increase of success passing. In other words, running the ball does not keep the defense “honest”. We also have Ben Baldwin, the economist who runs a lot of football numbers on Twitter, who showed that expected points on offensive DECREASES as the number of rushing attempts increases. Contrary to the belief running the ball will help to set up the pass and score. Conclusion: What you believe is a myth. You’re that 84 year old grandpa that everyone rolls their eyes at because he keeps saying the team needs to bring back the old single wing formation. Figured out? The offense is #1 in yards and #2 in points. 2 of the 3 losses featured an offense that had over 480 yards in the game. It is ludicrous to say the offense is figured out. They are struggling in the redzone which is the true problem. The Chiefs, Bengals, Vikings and Chargers all run the ball less than we do. This chart shows rushing attempts.
  19. Are you trying to make the point that other coaches make bad decisions too? Because I never said they didn’t.
  20. This is one of those myths that fans can’t stop believing. Like those who still think you need to run to have a good play-action attack.
  21. It’s not unrealistic when other NFL players who were injured at the same time as him are already playing. One of them was injured a couple weeks before Tre and he started the first game of the season! Two months ago!
  22. Even those numbers are better odds than running. We will have to agree to disagree on this. The Bills could run 50 times per game and they wouldn’t be any better at it.
  23. Yeah the play call was not the problem on that particular play.
