We have done a wonderful job covering Allen, Dorsey, Cook, etc. Here are a few different items: 1) When the Jets went 13 personnel, McDermott put Rapp into game as a nickel CB to essentially play a LB role. This often resulted in our DB's getting easily blocked and once the Jets rusher made it past the d-line, it was chunks of yardage. The Jets led the league in Week 1 in EPA/rush while in 13 personnel as a result Thoughts on this strategy? Seems... not ideal. Shouldn't we be matching 13 personnel with 3 LB's - especially with an aging defensive backfield of Hyde (32), Poyer (32), and Tre (turning 29 this season)? 2) According to PFF, the RT (Spencer Brown) and LG (McGovern) accounted for a combined 47.4% of the pressures Allen faced. Nearly half of the pressures came from these two positions. Josh Allen accounted for 26.3% of his own pressures. Brown, McGovern and Allen were responsible for iover 70% of the pressure. The other 3 players on the line faired very well. 3) Bernard was better than many (including myself) thought. His average depth of run-tackle was only 1 yard. Same as Milano. 4) Lastly, just for fun, how do you feel the game would have unfolded if Rodgers hadn't been injured? Do we lose by multiple scores? Do we perhaps do better, knowing that we have to be more careful?

I agree. I fully recognize that it sounds ridiculous and there is little (or perhaps zero) precedence for it, but we should have let McDermott go and kept Daboll.

I'm not really certain what the "process" is anymore. We have gone through 5 different coordinators (3 OC, 1 DC, 1 ST) and the high point is still getting blown out in the AFC Championship Game 3 years ago.

I agree with you that signing Daniel Jones to that large contract was a very poor idea and may end up being what dooms Brian Daboll’s tenure in New York (eventually). But back to Daboll as an offensive coordinator, he excelled at finding a way to scheme wide receivers open. He gave Allen easy decisions. Dorsey seems to struggle with this. Think back to our time with Daboll. Do you recall the amount of times that Josh had an easy read, with an open receiver? It was quite often. We rarely ever see this now Instead, we see Alan having to fit balls into extremely tight windows far more often than was done under Daboll.

Equating it to the Bills, I think the Giants are in their 2018 season. Last season they overachieved (like the 2017 Bills), this year they regress, and next year they go for a deep playoff run.

It can be more than one thing. And coaching is definitely part of the problem. We played 2 LB’s against 13 personnel last night. We had Rapp playing pseudo LB lined up as a nickel. I mean… no wonder they were gashing us in the run.

He doesn’t cite where he came up with that number, but anyone watching the game could see that Allen was pressured on more than 20% of his dropbacks. I trust PFF’s number of 43%~.

A lot of blame is (rightfully so) being put on Josh. However, I believe there are several layers to this onion: - Allen’s offensive line has him shook, and has had him shook for about a year now. Allen started the game something like 9 of 10 passing before Spencer Brown was bench pressed into his lap. Then Morse got embarrassingly beat by Quinnen Williams on the deep seam interception which rushed Allen’s throw/decision making. Allen was under pressure close to 50% of his dropbacks (stat below). That is unacceptable. - I believe that there is one mind he respected and trusted in the Bills coaching staff, and that mind is now on the Giants payroll. - My hypothesis is that Diggs emotions, desire to win and desire get the ball has put pressure on Josh that is not conducive to him playing well. It often feels like Josh is forcing the ball to Diggs. - Coaching in general has been poor. Why do we only have 2 linebackers on the field when the Jets are playing 13 personnel? We really want a safety playing pseudo-LB?

I think Diggs is a contributing factor (though not the only one) of Allen’s slump. I do not think it’s any coincidence that 2 of Allen’s 3 interceptions came while forcing the ball to Diggs. It doesn’t excuse them, but it does make me wonder if Allen is attempting to appease. Edit: A few posters pointed out that one of the interceptions I thought was intended for Diggs was actually intended for Hardy.

2 of Allen’s 3 interceptions came while forcing the ball to Diggs downfield. Of course Allen has to know not to do that, but I can’t help but wonder if Diggs non-stop chirping has led to Allen feeling like he must feed him. I know hindsight is 20/20 and i’m sure this opinion won’t be popular, but I believe it’s clear that we should have kept our first round pick and used it on Jefferson, rather than trading for Diggs.

The Bengals, in my opinion. They were steamrolled by a remarkably average (though solid) Browns team. We lost to the best defense in the NFL because our QB switched brains with Nathan Peterman.

I believe the Giants are in their 2018 season (comparing to us). They overachieved last season, just like we did in 2017, and surprise-made the playoffs in Daboll’s first year, just like McDermott. I think this year they rebuild a bit and next year is when they break out. Just my opinion. Giving Daniel Jones that contract, though, was a mistake, in my opinion

Yeah, we let the wrong coach leave. Daboll and McDermott didn’t see eye to eye. Perhaps there is more to that and we are seeing it now.

Agreed. I also think he would have caught the ball Knox dropped in OT, had he been in the same position as Knox.
