  1. No one said every team but the Super Bowl victor "sucks". What was said is that success is measured by the goal you are aiming for. Sure, when you turn posts into strawmen.
  2. Those plates are lame compared to my McDermott clapping plate.
  3. This is where I fundamentally disagree. I do not agree that there is a large amount of risk in moving on to a different coach. With Josh Allen, we could make the playoffs with Rex Ryan as our coach.
  4. That is the simple reality of the NFL. There is only one goal - To win a Super Bowl. Equating a team's success to a string of regular-season victories, even though they consistently falter during the playoffs, is similar to commending a team for perpetually failing to achieve the NFL's singular, paramount objective.
  5. I have no idea why they extended them when they still had several years left (it serves no purpose) but there is no shortage of NFL coaches fired after getting an extension. Ron Rivera, John Fox, Del Rio, Gus Bradley, Marvin Lewis, Jeff Fisher…. etc all fired within a year or two of receive an extension. I agree with this.
  6. If they’re a top 5 combo then they routinely underperform their own capabilities by flailing in the round of 8.
  7. But, why? Didn't they have several years of contract left? Doesn’t really matter I guess. Many coaches have been fired after signing extensions.
  8. Agreed. @SoCal Deek how uncommon is it for a team/organization to physically begin building a stadium before releasing more than 3 half-ass renderings?
  9. I think they may carry more than 6, not knowing how Hamlin returns. Benford may be a S/CB hybrid.
  10. Barring injury, this is pretty simple. There is very little room for surprise. Tre, Elam, Taron, Dane, Benford, Siran, and Cam. Austin is an intriguing prospect but he was also one of the last picks in the draft. Not sure a team that wasn’t willing to spend a 7th round pick on him would be poach him to an active roster (which is what would have to happen if he was taken from our practice squad) before ever seeing action. I guess he could choose to sign to another PS before signing our offer but why?
  11. I guess we will probably never know for certain. Benford came off of IR only a week before the playoffs. That’s why he wasn’t playing. He hadn’t seen any meaningful action in 6 weeks and needed time to acclimate. This staff especially has a long-standing tradition of slow walking guys back from injury. But I do agree that Elam played well in the playoffs.
  12. I hear you. But I think part of the reason the staff didn’t give Elam more playing time is because of his poor play. For example, Elam played 80% of the defensive snaps in the first 6 games. Then his usage went down. As if the coaches said “we have seen enough”. And it’s not a rookie thing. Because Benford, another rookie, was played more (when healthy).
  13. Come on SCBills. Even the most ardent Bills homer can not think McDuffie wasn't significantly better than Elam in year 1. That doesn't mean Elam won't be the better long-term player, but last year, McDuffie was significantly better. Elam was even a healthy scratch at one point late in the season. The coaching staff drastically cut his snap count too (from 80's in the beginning of season, to 50's in the late season, which is even worse when you considered that Benford was hurt). His PFF grade was in the 50's (McDuffie in the 70's).
  14. That's true. But answer me this - if the Chiefs didn't think we were going to pick McDuffie, why would they move ahead of us? They could have moved behind us, and not wasted a third rounder. Patriots clearly didn't want a CB (they traded the pick). And GB didnt need one (they went LB). The Titans and Bucs were willing to trade their picks (and did). They clearly moved ahead of us because they felt we wanted their guy. It's the same reason we moved ahead of Dallas. We had information that they wanted Kincaid.
  15. I was agreeing with the 9 wins part of that range. I have consistently expressed my belief that this team has the potential to win nine games without Allen. That has more to do with Allen than McDermott, though. Coaches truly showcase their skills during the playoffs and in high-pressure situations that demand meticulous attention to detail. But regardless, you're falling into the same trap that many fans fall into (and that's partially my fault for not having the self control to not respond to the obvious Rex comparison). Caring about regular season wins. The only thing I care about is playoff wins (and a Super Bowl). We could be the 9-7 Giants winning the 07 Super Bowl and that would be fine with me.
  16. It was the day before the draft. And they were talking to the Patriots because the Patriots were right above us in the draft order. That was the entire point of talking to NE and working that trade before the draft. They didn't pick the Patriots out of thin air. They wanted McDuffie the entire time and they knew they had to get in front of us to guarantee getting him. "Veach had his eye on him right from the beginning” Andy Reid said and the Chiefs GM said they moved up to get ahead of teams that needed a CB. Who needed a CB ahead of them? The Bills. “Knowing some of the team needs that were directly in front of us (were looking for a CB)" - Veach. It's all circumstantial evidence, but the evidence is strong.
  17. Yes, McDuffie was significantly better than Elam in their rookie season. Doesnt mean he will always be better. But "so far" he is. I think it was Billswire (it's been a year).
  18. I saw it on a tweet once, where there was massive discussion of the Bills wanting McDuffie. It was a video of the Bills board room and it was just announced that the Chiefs moved up (and everyone knew it was to get McDuffie), and Terrance Gray exasperates "they moved ahead of us" and the scout to his left is looking worried, and Beane starts to get on the phone to move up as well. Then you add to the fact that KC moved ahead of us for a reason. They didn't waste a 3rd round pick jumping ahead of us because they thought we were taking Elam.
  19. Belichick won 11 games when his franchise QB went down in 2008. One of the best coaching jobs in history. I agree. Which is why im not advocating to fire him right now. But if he continues to crap his pants in the playoffs, we can not waste Allen's entire career hoping McDermott will figure it out.
  20. It's true that as the QB goes, so does the team. Which is why I believe if we replaced McDermott, you would see very little drop-off.
  21. if he didn't meet their physical profile, then there is no reason to meet with him pre-draft, not to mention the reports after the draft that Beane was high on McDuffie. KC also moved up ahead of us for a reason - just like we moved ahead of Dallas because we know they were high on Kincaid, KC may have moved ahead of us because they knew we were high on McDuffie. Isn't it amazing how the player any team gets was always "their target all along"? This is a common trope. When a team loses the player they wanted, it always become "oh we wanted option B the entire time".
