Are we being purposely divided?
ArdmoreRyno replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Those are private sales at a gun show. It's not common compared to gun dealers... which is what the vast majority of gun shows are made up of. Some states allow private sellers some don't. In Oklahoma, I've seen (only twice in my life) someone walk around carrying 2-3 guns on them going to dealers asking if they want to buy them. Bad guys DO get guns that way, but its so much easier to do a straw purchase or get them on the streets. The easiest way for a criminal to get a gun is to simply steal them. -

Apparently you missed my point. STFU and let teams prove it = Stop yapping and let the teams prove it. -

But you'd lose your job if you don't do it (see: US military) -

Form 4473 is an ATF form you have to fill out when you buy a firearm. It goes to both the ATF and FBI. All states require this form... there is no state that ignores this process. Now different states have their own requirements, like a wait time after you buy a firearm. But my main issue with new background checks: Criminals won't do it. They'll buy a gun off the street and ignore all laws. I then have to travel 30-40 miles to my local FFL with my dad, when we somehow can both get off work at the same time, to do a background check and pay more money when I gifted him a Henry .357 lever action rifle (I got one for his 70th birthday a year ago). I can't give my wife a pistol I bought her for protection when I'm out of town without both of us doing ANOTHER background check. -

Dude, this beats out all the comments I've made on his page and you just destroyed his ridiculous argument. He also forgets, they beat Auburn in the luckiest of ways. Auburn who went 6-7 and lost to an AAC team (Houston). Auburn had NO players opt out of their bowl game (another one of Bill from NYC's arguments). -

I appreciate the conversation. We don't have enough of this in America today, let alone this site. -

LOL Again, it's just "Alabama" and everyone else sucks, right? Anything that might put a bump in the road for Alabama is bad. Right? Sorry I have an opinion on the matter and sorry MOST of America agrees with me. Your "Many players boycott them" is simply not true. Do players do that? Yes. It's been happening more recently, but with an expansion in the playoffs it can help with the FEW kids who opt out of bowls. Less than 30 opted out across the nation, out of a pool of 3,500 that were trying to get into the NFL. 0.008% Hardly a reason to say bowl games are meaningless. Tell that to the kids in Stillwater who beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl or the kids in Waco who won the Sugar Bowl. Ohio State kids were on top of the world after winning the Rose Bowl this past year. Meaningless. And if you haven't figured it out, I've never said Alabama was a weak team or didn't deserve to play in the playoffs (aside from 2011 which they didn't deserve a rematch vs LSU). They have been *the* team the past decade. You can theorize all you want with bowl games but the fact is, outside UGA and Bama... the rest of the SEC sucked and got beat down top to bottom by other conferences. Maybe SEC is weaker than you think. Alabama BARELY BEAT Florida, Auburn and Arkansas last year. How did Florida do in 2021? Same Florida team that barely beat a 4-7 SAMFORD team, giving up 52 points. All that said: Just STFU and let teams PROVE IT. If you think Baylor or Oklahoma State is weak because they play in the Big XII, then you have nothing to worry about. -

Jump on the gun thread for your answers... but let me help. 1. We have background checks. Every gun legally purchased from a FFL (gun dealer) must complete a Form 4473 (ATF/FBI background check). Doesn't matter if you're at a gun shop, pawn shop or gun show. Only private purchases don't have to do background checks. Lets say you somehow add that onto the 20,000 gun laws in America... no criminal is going to go down to their local FFL to do a background check. 2. Red flag laws are a horrible idea. One way to legally make someone guilty before they can prove they aren't. Here is a good opinion piece from the CATO institute (a liberation intuition). 3. Minimum age requirements are already in place. I don't necessarily have an issue with more of a background check for pre-21 year old's from buying a semi-automatic rifle. Especially looking at juvenile records, but AR platforms aren't weapons of war. Just because they look similar, they don't function the same (this is coming from someone who was issued an actual "Weapon of War" in the military. And trust me, a 19 year old in the USMC isn't any more mature than a 19 year old civi. 4. Worst school shooting in American history was carried out by a 9mm handgun and .22 LR handgun. The handgun is what is used in 95% of all so-called "mass shooting". -

How am I stuck in anything dude? I'm posting current polls. I honestly don't care about the elections in Kansas or Alaska. Guess we will see if voters really care that much when push comes to shove. You know as well as I do, people will complain but yet not vote when it comes down to it. -

Cool. The senate is a projected "toss up" and the House is going to go red. So..... -

LOL, you said 30% are Republican. I said it's actually that way for both sides.... you get triggered and have to argue. Cracks me up. Gallop's result on the subject of trending Ind. voters. -

Only SEC fans... mainly Alabama fans... have a real issue with an expanded playoffs and it's hilarious. The thought that the Big XII or even the PAC 12 can't hang with other conferences is just flat out incorrect. It's a crock of sh*t actually to think no one can hang with the mighty SEC. Why have NCAA basketball tournaments? And what other conferences are better than the Big XII as a whole? ACC? No. Big 10? No. Pac-12 No. SEC? Top 2 teams? Yes. At times conferences have a bad run, like the Pac-12 is currently having... but most come around. You, as a Bama fan, should know that. Bama went a good decade (like 1997-2007) just sucking ass. The one good year you had, you cheated and got caught. But lets look at the 2021-22 post season.... NY6 Bowls (Big XII, not counting CFP games) #9 Oklahoma State 37 #5 Notre Dame 35 #7 Baylor 21 #9 Ole Miss 7 SEC v Big XII (in other bowls) Texas Tech 34 Miss Stat 7 Kansas State 42 LSU 20 SEC vs Everyone else Army 24 Missouri 22 UCF 29 Florida 17 Houston 17 Auburn 13 Purdue 48 Tennessee 45 S. Carolina 38 N. Carolina 21 Arkansas 24 Penn State 10 Kentucky 20 Iowa 17 Then the playoffs of course, which again... you have Alabama and UGA. Two best teams in the country in... yes.. the best conference. The SEC had a LOSING record in the Bowl games last year vs the weaker conferences. But stop with the BS that the Big XII or (or anyone else really) are pathetic compared to the mighty SEC. It's just a moronic statement. Maybe you don't want it to be expanded because your mighty Alabama Crimson Tide might have a more difficult time playing for the ship? The ones against it are the ones who just want their team in the top 4 every year, they're afraid of getting knocked off by a team who might pull together a better game plan. I only see Bama fans hate the idea of expansion. I'm glad we are doing it. A team like Oklahoma State or Baylor last season (who had arguably the two best defenses in college football) could have surprised anyone in the top 4. -

lol, the parties are split in half when it comes to being one side of the isle or the other. Hell, many registered democrats in my states are only registered as such due to local sheriff elections. 27% GOP 27% Democrat 43% Independent And in regards to Ind. voters, 46% lean GOP compared to 45% Dem... That trend is increasing red all the time. -
Prayers! lol

If I lived in NY State or Boston, etc..... this would be a no-brainer. But, I live in Southern Oklahoma (90 minutes between OKC and Dallas) and Bill simply never comes to these areas. There are certain "concerts" or people who come around every year... like Dave Matthews Band. He's ALWAYS in Dallas the same time every year.
-
No one would dispute that. 11 of the last 16 "championships" (I say it that way, because they are mythical) have come out of the SEC. There was a lot more parity in college football when Texas won the title vs USC. That said, no one will convince me that Oklahoma State wasn't the best team in 2011.

I usually go to bed at 9-10 p.m., so I'd be killing myself staying up till 1-2 a.m. watching a replay.

100% agree. Daredevil, especially when they introduced Frank Castle, was E-P-I-C. Seeing Matt Murdock in Spiderman this past year made me so damn happy.

(this is reminding me of the part in the movie "Fever Pitch" where Jimmy Fallon went to the "Great Gatsby" party and missed the BoSox/Yankees game)
