Sorry but telling LBGTQ+ they can't whip out their junk or use dildos in a parade isn't an "effective ban" anymore than removing pornographic material from age-inappropriate libraries is.  And there is still no proof that children "are being allowed" at nude beaches, either with photographic evidence or outside of some people breaking the law.

From the official description of Haulover Park:

    https://www.miamidade.gov/parks/haulover.asp

"There is also a world-renowned clothing optional beach section that is family oriented and staffed by well trained volunteers who provide information about beach etiquette." (bold by me)

From the "beach etiquette" guidelines for Blind Creek Beach:

    https://www.treasurecoastnaturists.org/beach-etiquette

"Please exercise common courtesy with cameras.  Do not photograph people without their permission. Practice politeness by asking first. Never photograph any children but your own."  (Common sense should tell you that they would not have this rule if kids were not allowed.)

Let me ask this again….since nobody knows what the heck Juneteenth means, why don’t they change the day to Emancipation Day before this gets rolling. I have no problem with celebrating the occasion but this is an utterly ridiculous title for it.

    From: https://www.pbs.org/wnet/african-americans-many-rivers-to-cross/history/what-is-juneteenth/

The name comes from the date June 19, 1865:

"The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of personal rights and rights of property between former masters and slaves, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and hired labor. The freedmen are advised to remain quietly at their present homes and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts and that they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere.” —General Orders, Number 3; Headquarters District of Texas, Galveston, June 19, 1865

And the name "Juneteenth" has been around for more than 150 years:

"Defying confusion and delay, terror and violence, the newly “freed” black men and women of Texas, with the aid of the Freedmen’s Bureau (itself delayed from arriving until September 1865), now had a date to rally around. In one of the most inspiring grassroots efforts of the post-Civil War period, they transformed June 19 from a day of unheeded military orders into their own annual rite, “Juneteenth,” beginning one year later in 1866."

its interesting how fast this moved to being a thing/Holiday

10 years ago, no one outside the inner cities had a clue.

    This is incorrect. From Wikipedia:

"In the late 1970s, when the Texas Legislature declared Juneteenth a "holiday of significance ... particularly to the blacks of Texas,"[45] it became the first state to establish Juneteenth as a state holiday.[61] The bill passed through the Texas Legislature in 1979 and was officially made a state holiday on January 1, 1980. Before 2000, three more U.S. states officially observed the day, and over the next two decades it was recognized as an official observance in all states, except South Dakota, until becoming a federal holiday.[4]"

OK. my view is so they call it something else next year, loyalty reward, etc.  Or they don't offer any discounts and quickly find out the price point that people are willing to pay.  At $489 Reddit starts to look good again.

    Let's hope so!

Is there a link to where it states that?  My take on it is like anything that goes on sale, once the sale ends it goes back to standard price.  Until the next sale.  And the next sale could be even better or not as good, or not on the terms you want.  But did YTTV state there will never be another early discount in future years?

I did not find a link, but the receipt I received for my payment says that the price for next year is $489.

    Membership details

NFL Sunday Ticket + NFL RedZone
    Regular season  $489.00

Inaugural offer  $100.00 discount limited to your purchase today    -$100.00

Recurring annual charge (Billing starts: Aug 6, 2024)  $489.00

I went with the stand-alone Sunday ticket/red zone package.
YTTV doesn’t carry Bally sports which carries all the Cardinals and Blues games here in St Louis. I could get by without but an absolute must for the rest of the family. So when I look at switching, I’d still have to get Bally via another sub and it ends up costing more than I pay now for DTV.
As much as people complain about DTV, I never paid full price for ST Max in 11 years, usually free or at least 75% off at worst. Also would call every year and get steep discounts on tv package in general. So this switch just means I have to fork over $389 for the ST/red zone package and have to show the family how to access it differently this year. Not gonna complain too much - that’s still not bad as we’ve got 3 nfl teams we follow and this assures we’ll get every game.

I just did the same. However, it is important to be aware that the $100 early discount only applies to this year. Youtube clearly states that next year it will be $489 for the stand-alone ST w/ RZ ($449 w/o RZ). Of course, you can cancel it before it renews.

  7. UB college athletics. When I came from Germany to Rochester in 1990, Rochester embraced the Bills, but "our" NCAA affiliate was Syracuse (although I was never a very committed fan of the Orange). After moving to Lubbock, where college athletics are much more important, I turned to the home team, the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Now, that both of my kids attend(ed) UT and my son even played in the Longhorn band, my college sports allegiance is split.

  8. Two of my favorite musical genres are progressive rock and indie/alternative rock. Here are two examples which have something in common: the name "Hatfield".

On the alternative side, there is the The Juliana Hatfield Three - their only hit I can remember: "My Sister"

On the progressive side, there is Hatfield and The North, a band form England's Canterbury scene.

Nobody in the band is named Hatfield. They got their name from a road sign.

I did not realize you knew Ken Ham, but I would not be surprised if he is simply a con man saying whatever needed to get funded.

I thought you worked in education. Have you ever heard about the "evolution" versus "creation" debate? Are you aware that nearly half of all Americans believe that the world was created literally as described in Genesis, and that it is about 6000 years old? Ken Ham is just on the extreme and of the "creation" side. He might be a nut case for rejecting evolution, but I think his beliefs, and those of other proponents of "creation science", are sincere.

very interesting. But I'm not hearing any connection... other than they are both British? ...Musically I think Oasis is much more commercial. and grunge . Blur is just okay meh  No one can like Everything 🙂 Thank you for your reply.  Cheers,

I disagree. In the end, the Blur vs. Oasis battle boils down to Damon Albarn (Blur) versus the Gallagher brothers (Oasis). IMHO Albarn excels in writing catchy melodies and he is a very strong "yes" to FZ's challenge "Does humor belong in music?" E.g. you can see him here at 2:20 playing keyboards for Elastica.

Furthermore, when he had enough of BritPop, Albarn changed his musical style pretty radically in Gorillaz, a "virtual band" where he included electronics and rap. One of my favorites: "Clint Eastwood".

After Gorillaz, another turn to story-telling art rock in "The Good, the Bad, and the Queen".

In contrast, the Gallaghers always sound the same. If you like their sound, fine. But if you prefer versatility, humor, and observational skills, you have to go with Albarn.

Right, and he has never reached the SB. Was hoping this season he had no GF.

Let me ask you a question: I do not know your line of work, but does having a GF or not affect your work performance? From my own experience, as long as the relationship works well, it boosts my work performance. Thanks to my wife of nearly 25 years (plus 7 years as GF before that), I am pretty successful at what I do (biochemistry research and teaching).

I don't think this Bob Jones person is even a Bills fan. He just screams "troll" to me, and has since he started posting here. Probably a Chiefs, Bengals or divisional rival fan under the guise of a Bills fan.

I do not know why this person decided to use "Bob Jones" as screen name, but there was a real person named Bob Jones who declared himself a prophet. This Bob Jones was a big Chief's fan. He suggested that the Chiefs winning a Superbowl was a prediction of Jesus returning to Earth.

It gets even more bizarre, but also more hilarious, when you listen to a current self-proclaimed "minister".

  13. Nearly 30 years ago, I detected a "third testicle" in my *****; it was a bit smaller than the regular balls, but also somewhat harder to the touch. It turned out to be a cyst, and removal was a simple outpatient surgery. There was a slight problem after the surgery as there was some liquid build-up and my ***** swelled. The suture decided to burst while I was at work, but I managed to get home without attracting anybody's attention. The operation did not have any negative effect on the natural function: our two kids were born several years after this incident.

  14. A long time ago, in the second half of the 1960s, the girl's name Eloise must have been quite popular as it was in the title of at least two major hits. First, there was  "Eloise" by Barry Ryan, which was a #1 or #2 hit not only in the UK, but also in the German-speaking countries, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, probably because of its "baroque" sound.

And then there were the Hollies with "Dear Eloise"...

  15. Pere Ubu, which is essentially song writer and vocalist David Thomas plus a varying cast of musicians, have been around since the mid-1970s. Their most recent album features a song, "Worried Man Blues", which reminds me of one of my favorite musicians, Captain Beefheart.

  16. All Texans, independent of their political affiliation, should appreciate that the Republican-dominated Texas House of Representatives finally had enough of the shenanigans of Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton and voted to impeach him over allegations of illegal activities related to one of his political donors.

Not really unexpected, Donald Trump posted on social media that Paxton is a friend of his and that he would "fight" Republicans who allow the impeachment to proceed. Well, this now puts Trump against a lot of Texas Republicans.

At first the commie thing seemed like just a jab, but it turns out todays democrats and particularly the alt left ones here are in fact replicas of the Russian early 20th century Bolsheviks In ideology.  When you read about them and how they operated it’s identical to the of brainwashed lefties.

    -antifamily and anti religion

    -promotion of sexual deviance

-religious cheerleading all power government -they too assumed they ‘knew better’ than conventional wisdom because they were so enlightened

    - is fascinating these idiots are a carbon copy of those idiots in everything they say and do

Oh and it turns out they were also nick named  commies.

Well, the Bolsheviks got most things wrong. But could you please explain to me how they promoted "sexual deviance"? To my (admittedly limited) knowledge, the only things they did was to decriminalize abortion and homosexuality (the latter one was re-criminalized by Stalin). Do you call that "promotion of sexual deviance"?

  18. This is not a real www.si.com article. They host on their web site hundreds of bloggers. The author of this piece, Richie Whitt, seems to take write-ups of other authors and provide a Reader's Digest-like summary. This is just a rehash of the Ross Tucker piece (which is already under discussion here), without any new insights.
