Sounded like poor work ethic & attitude. Reading between the lines of Joe Marino’s statement. Said he doesn’t think the Bills would draft him because he’s not a good cultural fit. Joe has some tight connections at UGA.
Yes, he has some "football character" (i.e., diva) flaws that the Bills tend to avoid. But I also think that McBeane are flexible enough to go "oft script" for certain high-talent / high value players, and Pickens in Round 2 fits that, IMO.

44:29 AJ Highsmith says Elijah Moore was his 2021 draft crush
Wow! He was my draft crush for the Bills as well.
He could have come in, tutored under Beasley for a year and then been a great slot replacement in our scheme. I think he's got a big year ahead with the Jests, assuming Wilson can step up his game.

He also leads the class in drops with an over 12% drop rate!
That was covered in an earlier post somewhere.
It has to do with the go-route, deep patterns he primarily ran at ND State (which have a higher degree of passing accuracy/catch difficulty), at the expense of shorter and intermediate routes where drop stats can be lower. He was catching everything at the Senior Bowl, where he was used in all types of patterns with better QB play.

He was asked by our pal Adam Schein about who he thought was the best receiver in the draft and the answer was surprising without hesitation he said George Pickens.
Yeah, he's surging up some boards.

Just because he's an economist, it doesn't mean he knows jack $$$$.
Most of the new stadium deals since 2009 were in large, affluent cities with enough ticket demand to pay the high prices needed to self-fund the stadium. The only remote comparable to Buffalo would be U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis which received $498 million in state funding (about 50% of the pricetag).
Plus, using the Senaca casino money to fund the majority of the NYS commitment reduces the future taxpayer burden to virtually nil, when offset by annual income tax revenue from player salaries.
This guy needs to remove the U, M and E from assume and put a sock in it.

Two-year, $10-million deal. Pass.

I hope everyone doesn't freak out if we once again draft defense in the 1st round.
Well, I for one will be "dancing and a wigglin" like John Butler if they go defense in Round 1. I just don't see enough value in the offens(ive) prospects around that #25 slot.

Definitely no trade-ups to the top-10 this year. Top-20 is a stretch as well, unless the value just screams out due to some strange picks pushing guys lower (count on the Raiders to contribute to that again!)
All in all, I'm pretty ambivalent about this year's draft class. I like the guys in the 25-45 range better than the top 20 relative to past years.

Or the message that he won’t be paying singletary who is in a contract year. One way to be able to be able to pay your premium players is to keep the RB room cheap and they have and I think will continue to do so.
Yeah. That's a pretty powerful (and motivating) message to both guys. Hope it has the desired effect.

Up to now, I hadn't spent much time thinking about Hill. But after digging into it a bit, he seems like a very interesting candidate at #25.
Positional flexibility is a hugh thing with the Bills and he'd check that box. Others are football IQ and durability--he didn’t miss a game in college. It'll come down to value at the pick, but I'd be happy if it shook out that way.
-----
Edit: thinking about the odds of Hill at #25, I'm inclined to say they're now next to none--I can't ever recall Kiper correctly mocking the Bills pick when they've drafted so low.

So, of the Bill's 30-visits so far, three have been RBs, with Hall being the latest.
It certainly seems like Beane is sending a message about upgrading the running game (particularly to Zach Moss 😛).

It’s that time of year. Lying Season. Be careful what you believe as the NFL draft looms. Because what you hear is not necessarily rooted in the truth.
No, we’re in full swing with another type of NFL gamesmanship. Misinformation and mixed signals rank right up there in the process with 40-yard dash times and three-cone drills.
“April should be known in the NFL as National Liars Month,” Gil Brandt, the Hall of Fame-bound, former personnel guru told USA Today Sports. “Everybody is trying to create a smokescreen, both ways.”

• Roquan Smith, 2018, no. 8 overall: Smith has started 59 of the 61 games he’s been on the active roster in Chicago, and he’s logged more than 90 solo tackles and 10+ tackles for loss in each of the last two seasons, making second team All-Pro both times. The Bears picked up Smith’s fifth-year option, which covers this coming season, and all signs indicate he will be a mainstay in Chicago’s defense through at least one more contract.
• Tremaine Edmunds, 2018, no. 16 overall: Edmunds has been the Bills’ starting middle linebackers in each of 61 games he’s made the active roster. Edmunds had his fifth-year options picked up by the Bills, and he made a pair of Pro Bowls (2019, 2020). I’d expect Edmunds to receive a second contract in Buffalo after the 2022 season.
I absolutely loved Roquan Smith coming out in that 2018 draft, and he's been terrific so far.

OP, you realize that 'controversial' hot takes are the only thing NFL news and enetertainment programs have to offer right now, other than ONE MILLION! mock drafts? Right?

No way Beane blows up the middle of our D this year when we are primed for a run. If anything, he will draft Edmunds replacement and let him learn for a year.
Yep, that's Beane's MO. He'll roll with Edmunds this year and say he's "earned the right to test the market" next year. Drafting his replacement now is a good idea.

Listening to Greg Cosell today about 2022 draft class WRs

Davis will be fine, IMO. But with Josh being the centerpiece of the team, adding WR talent is always a good idea.
Players get hurt, contracts get complicated, schemes evolve. Giving the QB a steady supply of weapons is the best way to keep the Bills at/near the top.
