Interview with AJ Highsmith - Bills Southern area scout
Shake_My_Head replied to CapeBreton's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow! He was my draft crush for the Bills as well. He could have come in, tutored under Beasley for a year and then been a great slot replacement in our scheme. I think he's got a big year ahead with the Jests, assuming Wilson can step up his game. -
I might be an outlier here...... Draft needs

Yes, you're an outlier. -
That was covered in an earlier post somewhere. It has to do with the go-route, deep patterns he primarily ran at ND State (which have a higher degree of passing accuracy/catch difficulty), at the expense of shorter and intermediate routes where drop stats can be lower. He was catching everything at the Senior Bowl, where he was used in all types of patterns with better QB play.

New Bills stadium deal is bad for taxpayers, according to Yahoo!
Shake_My_Head replied to JPL7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just because he's an economist, it doesn't mean he knows jack $$$$. Most of the new stadium deals since 2009 were in large, affluent cities with enough ticket demand to pay the high prices needed to self-fund the stadium. The only remote comparable to Buffalo would be U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis which received $498 million in state funding (about 50% of the pricetag). Plus, using the Senaca casino money to fund the majority of the NYS commitment reduces the future taxpayer burden to virtually nil, when offset by annual income tax revenue from player salaries. This guy needs to remove the U, M and E from assume and put a sock in it. -

Just swap names with the Croaker. What? Too soon? Yeah, I like that Wilson Foundation idea. Get it done, Mary. -

Mel Kiper mock- Michigan DB Daxton Hill
Shake_My_Head replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, I for one will be "dancing and a wigglin" like John Butler if they go defense in Round 1. I just don't see enough value in the offens(ive) prospects around that #25 slot. -

Definitely no trade-ups to the top-10 this year. Top-20 is a stretch as well, unless the value just screams out due to some strange picks pushing guys lower (count on the Raiders to contribute to that again!) All in all, I'm pretty ambivalent about this year's draft class. I like the guys in the 25-45 range better than the top 20 relative to past years.

Yeah. That's a pretty powerful (and motivating) message to both guys. Hope it has the desired effect.

Mel Kiper mock- Michigan DB Daxton Hill
Shake_My_Head replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Up to now, I hadn't spent much time thinking about Hill. But after digging into it a bit, he seems like a very interesting candidate at #25. Positional flexibility is a hugh thing with the Bills and he'd check that box. Others are football IQ and durability--he didn’t miss a game in college. It'll come down to value at the pick, but I'd be happy if it shook out that way. ----- Edit: thinking about the odds of Hill at #25, I'm inclined to say they're now next to none--I can't ever recall Kiper correctly mocking the Bills pick when they've drafted so low. -
So, of the Bill's 30-visits so far, three have been RBs, with Hall being the latest. It certainly seems like Beane is sending a message about upgrading the running game (particularly to Zach Moss 😛).

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/bell/2019/04/20/nfl-draft-lying-season-means-dirty-tricks-misinformation-norm/3528356002/ It’s that time of year. Lying Season. Be careful what you believe as the NFL draft looms. Because what you hear is not necessarily rooted in the truth. No, we’re in full swing with another type of NFL gamesmanship. Misinformation and mixed signals rank right up there in the process with 40-yard dash times and three-cone drills. “April should be known in the NFL as National Liars Month,” Gil Brandt, the Hall of Fame-bound, former personnel guru told USA Today Sports. “Everybody is trying to create a smokescreen, both ways.”

OP, you realize that 'controversial' hot takes are the only thing NFL news and enetertainment programs have to offer right now, other than ONE MILLION! mock drafts? Right?

Well, tough to blame the stuff he wrote so Linda could be part of it. That was more home studio out-takes, playing around with the old lady than anything. Even he's embarassed by it: "The weakest song I have ever written in my life. Paul McCartney https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/song/bip-bop/ But 'Scrap heap of history,' though? Nah... -
If LB Devin Lloyd is available at Pick 25......
Shake_My_Head replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, that's Beane's MO. He'll roll with Edmunds this year and say he's "earned the right to test the market" next year. Drafting his replacement now is a good idea.
