I just mean in the sense that Shakir had to fully extend his arms and pluck the ball out of the air. Not that it was the same route. If a rookie can make that catch so can Crowder. Crowder is already behind the curve because of his injuries keeping him out of practice. He contributes nothing on special teams and he's getting outplayed by a 5th round rookie. If he wants to make himself irreplaceable he has to make a few difficult plays.

The amount of time the ball was in the air was quite different on those two throws.

In Crowder's case, it was a bang-bang play with the ball right in his face just as he turned his head to look for it.  On Hodgins, it was in the air a lot longer, giving him more time to look the catch in.    Apples and oranges.     They play different positions as well, with Crowder in the slot and Hodgins on the outside, with differing patterns and degrees of difficulty (more traffic inside, closer to the LOS for Crowder, more pattern depth and free releases for Hodgins).

Could Crowder have made the catch?    Certainly, but it was a tough ball and the QB was as much as fault as he was.

Question, as I am not a native to WNY, which place would be best if you like a lot of sauce?  I've tried Duff's and Anchor Bar which were good but, I gotta be honest, I tried Mammosers one time, and I thought their wings were not very good at all.  Not much sauce and just kind of bland overall.

If you're expecting a 'traditional Buffalo' wing, Mammosers is not for you.   They're dryer than 'wet' and tend to be smaller than 'jumbo.'   Still, they're a great change of pace to the same 'ol, same 'ol and I love em a bunch.

  3. Sully has always been an "outsider" (he's from Providence RI, I believe) and has maintained that POV his whole career.    Unlike the Felsers and Kelley's and beloved columnists who were home grown WNYers.

That detachment can be effective in the right hands.    But not for Jerry, who's always viewed local sports fans as drunks on barstools (of which there are many, to be honest).

Are you sure ? I'm surprised a VP would be driving uber.

East Management Services is one of the Pegula's companies.    It's based in Boca Raton, has 12 employees and Kim is listed as the owner.

  5. The only thing columnists like Sully are good for is giving my cockatiel a good laugh...and a place to take a dump.

He's got no access, no sources and the equivalent of drunk-on-a-barstool insights.    The only thing that's ever kept him in the game is his mastery of 20-20 hindsight and the fact a sizeable percentage of Buffalo area sports fans have no ability to remember / retain anything he's ever written or said.

The rest of the story...it was all about severance pay:

"...Jeff Pope, formerly a security coordinator for the Houston Texans, was fired last month for what the Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson reported as for “job performance issues, including falsifying payroll and overtime records.”

Pope, who is African-American, alleges that he was terminated based on his race and has filed a complaint with the EEOC after not coming to an agreement on a severance when his ties were cut with the Houston Texans.
