Do the Pegulas Have What It Takes?
FilthyBeast replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he doesn't than I hope fans are smart enough to stay home next year and not waste their hard earned money on this team in the form of season tickets, etc. Owners eat head coach and GM contracts all the time not long after an extension. Hell the Raiders are still paying John Gruden, and now Josh McDaniels as well. The Bills didn't hesitate to dump Dick 'The Corpse' Jauron either after a bad extension and was with a notoriously cheap owner at the time. Bottom line is there's no way you can go into a critical roster reset/soft rebuild year with this head coach and let him have any influence in the FA/draft process. I'm obviously not a fan of Beane either but willing to keep him if it mean dumping his pal McDummy. -
Some will say 'no thanks' because this guy apparently didn't jive with the Patriot way, but the harsh reality is this is the exact type of move that a perennial contender (i.e. the Chiefs) would jump all over.
-
It brings a tear to my eye to see so many fans finally wake up and see the obvious problem. Now hopefully the most important person realizes that come January when the season is over and acts fast without the contract extension being a factor.
-
Not sure this is going to be the case especially since Stroud was a top prospect for a reason. But certainly coaching is a factor for a rookie QB that might end up having the best season ever under those circumstances.
-
It amazes me how many recent former players have magically found success elsewhere upon leaving the Bills. This gives me pause that Beane also needs to go along with McD. Don't get me wrong, still not a fan and think he's made more bad draft picks and FA signings that good ones, but seeing former players that he drafted shine else certainly points the finger directly elsewhere.

[QUESTION] Your Opinion On This Team Will Change Tonight If:
FilthyBeast replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
My expectations are already at an all time low, which includes a nail in the coffin type of loss tonight that effectively ends the 2023 season. But even if they win and look dominant it's not going to change anything until they can stack these type of games together again and more importantly do it against the likes of the Eagles, Chiefs, etc on the road. -
Looking at the Texan's remaining schedule, it's hard to anything less than a 10-7 record at minimum. They also already have 3 quality wins over other teams currently in the top 7 AFC playoff picture (Jaguars/Steelers/Bengals). Bottom line if you read between the lines, winning the division is the only way the Bills likely make playoffs this year but long term this is going to be yet another AFC team and QB situation that this current regime simply isn't equipped to contend with up there with the Chiefs, Bengals, Jaguars, etc.

Not sure if it's been tossed out there yet, but if Frank Reich is one and done in Carolina would anybody be interested in replacing Dorsey with him? Forget about his obvious Buffalo connection altogether, but seems like it would be a logical fit given his previous OC experience and success.
-
It's actually a pretty big storyline when you think about their history in the NFC South when McD was Panthers DC and Peyton Saints HC. In fact the last time a Peyton coached team came to Buffalo it wasn't pretty if you remember the Saints demolishing this team in McD's first year here. I think they won something like 49-10.

Travis Kelce on Josh Allen taunting penalty: "So F---- whack"
FilthyBeast replied to beebe's topic in The Stadium Wall
Somewhat ironic hearing this from Kelce considering the Chiefs/Mahomes would never had a call like that go against them. -
Week 10, Broncos v. Bills - Predict the Score
FilthyBeast replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gut feeling tells me Broncos win fairly easily. Garbage time TD again by the Bills late to make final score close like last week. Broncos 31 Bills 21 -
Deep down I also think this is very possible. Broncos are riding high after demolishing the best team in the NFL (and the favorite to be first team to win back to back SB's since the Pats in 2003/2004) and have had 2 weeks to prepare for this game. But hoping this players only stuff is a last ditch resort for this team to finally wake up and play a full 60 minute game. Need to start hot and jump on Broncos early to have a chance.
-
Not even thinking about next year yet, but keep in mind that as ridiculously hard this 2023 schedule is there's no excuse for this team to not be 7-2 at worse right now if they take care of business and beat the teams they should have (i.e. Jets and Patriots) and build a nice cushion before a brutal 2nd half. Nobody expected this team to go 17-0 and losing to other contenders on the road like the Jags/Bengals along the way was expected.
-
If another contender was truly interested and offered him a contract he probably would have took it over the Bills. There's a reason guys like were still on the street at this point of the season but hopefully he can bring something to the table down the stretch even if it's a lost season.

Gabe open all day- Dorsey playing Madden
FilthyBeast replied to NakedSquid's topic in The Stadium Wall
At this point we should be thankful that Beane didn't give Davis a ridiculous extension yet but obviously not really possible given the pending salary cap nightmare this team is facing next year. But at the same time I won't be surprised when he leaves Buffalo in the offseason and explodes with a new team next year, probably with Andy Reid and Mahomes in KC knowing this teams luck. -
I honesty don't know why these guys are even on the roster if we aren't going to use them. I was high on Sherfield but looks like he might have been the biproduct of a loaded offense and genius coach in Miami. But Harty especially is yet another big swing and miss considering his contract and that he was a day one FA target.

Stuck in the mud = Coaching & Lack of Talent
FilthyBeast replied to PepeSilvia's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've said for some time that this roster has never been as great as some fans were led to believe. Lots of woefully average players and backups but very few stars. Top heavy and many of these said impact players are constantly hurt year after year. This is why having the right GM entering a crucial roster reset/rebuild is critical and look no further than the Chiefs and the best GM in the NFL who executed a similar transition to perfection a few years ago when everyone though the Chiefs window was closing especially when they opted to traded away the best WR in the NFL. Not only did they hit on key draft picks finding multiple legit starters, they drafted some real stars/probowlers and won a SB with them last year when they were rookies/2nd year players. -
Bills vs Broncos-Monday Night Football
FilthyBeast replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Got a bad feeling about this game and wouldn't be surprised if the Broncos put the final stake in the 2023 season on MNF. But hoping I'm wrong and the Bills can find a way to win and prolong the inevitable at least one more week anyway. -
Playoff Chances Across The NFL Midseason
FilthyBeast replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
Looking at the AFC here's my honest analysis: Locks (75% chance or better these teams are playing in Jan) 1)KC - likely #1 seed yet again 2)BAL - 75% certain they win AFCN but worse case would be #5 seed as WC 3)JAC - lock for AFCS 4) CIN - see #2, AFCN still in play So this brings us to the remaining 3 spots available and who I feel is in the mix for those in no particular order (Let's say 50% chance at playoffs): 1) MIA - I know this will surprise some folks especially those that claim I'm a Dolphins fan, but at this point not a lock for division because of their inability to beat a team with a winning record yet. In the end I still lean towards them winning the division and being a playoff team though. 2) NYJ - yes this offense is hideous but they are probably #2 defense in NFL behind KC and that is going to enable them to keep stealing games and they have a lot of key ones ahead of the yet including Miami x2 and Bills again. 3) BUF - Don't believe they will be in playoffs for obvious reasons but can't exclude them since they are still 5-4 at moment and at least in theory have a shot at going 7-4 before another likely loss on the road against a top team. 4) CLE - In playoffs right now. Defense top 5 but another team with big time questions on offense and many tough division games left. 5) PIT - Same as above and metrics say they should be much worse than their current record and division should also sort this out. 6) HOU - Don't sleep on this team. CJ Stroud looks like he's going to be in the NFL elite conversation very quickly. They have an easy schedule left and some quality wins already against a few of the teams listed above them. 7) LAC - If the defense we've seen the last few weeks is for real they are going to be a factor despite one of the more toughest schedules left. Life Support/25% chance or less to make playoffs 1) DEN - Despite all the talk of Russ Wilson being finished and getting 70 points dropped on them by the Dolphins, they are quietly playing solid football and coming out of a bye week facing a struggling Bills team. They win that one they are right back in the mix. 2) TEN - Similar to Broncos in some ways but this team doesn't look like they are ready to go away quietly just yet especially with Will Levis adding a spark at QB. 3) IND - Probably not going anywhere but they have been in pretty much every game and have talent in place to be a spoiler down the stretch at the very least. 4) LVR - Looked like a completely different team after dumping McDaniels. If they sustain that they can certainly be in the mix. 5) NE - All but finished an in the #1 overall pick conversation, ironically their upset of the Bills might prevent that in the end. -
It seems we are all waiting for some sort of 'turning point' that likely isn't going to come. But obviously if it's going to happen it's this week against the Broncos with no turning back from there. No this team isn't going to win out even if they magically start playing better, but you have to look at the elite teams of years past (in the AFC specifically the Chiefs and Bengals) and how they always take their game to a different level when the calendar turns November.
