Goodbye to Marcel Louis-Jacques, Hello Alaina Getzenberg
BigAl2526 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw the news and googled "Getzenberg" to learn this. I was going to post it, but as usual got beaten. It was poetic justice. We should have known it was coming. -
If you google "bad radio" you'll get pictures of the former players who serve as hosts on the Instigators.

Jim Kelly Was Better Than Brady Imo..
BigAl2526 replied to Billsfanatic8989's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Kelly was more likeable, at least late in his career, but Brady's collection of Super Bowl rings says he is better. -
Gregory Rousseau surprises mom with a new jeep

I hope he purchased a nice long term service contract for it. I've known a few Jeep owners and every one found their vehicles to to be an unreliable mechanical nightmare. -
Per Nick Wright: Bills will be a fringe contender.
BigAl2526 replied to Leonitas's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's not hard to argue that either the Buccaneers or the Chiefs will be the Super Bowl winner. The reasoning for labeling Buffalo as a fringe Super Bowl team ("They can't beat Pat Mahomes") is infantile at best. Buffalo has been developing and improving since Sean McDermott arrived in Buffalo. They weren't good enough last January and went out and made their defense better. The differences on the defensive line are significant. There may be some incremental improvements elsewhere on the team. It's much harder for a team that is on top to keep making improvements. Mostly, they are just trying to hold on to what they have. -
I'll settle for having an elite QB. I don't need him to walk on water, and I doubt he can heal the blind referee.

Calling it now: Devin will be a 1000 yard back this year
BigAl2526 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know that 1,000 yards is impossible for a Bills running back, but it wouldn't be easy. With 17 games, it will take just shy of 60 yards per game. That's not an outrageous number, but it would probably take a few games where Singletary gets hot and just runs wild. -
In your opinion, what’s the hardest position?
BigAl2526 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If your criteria is weighted toward the mental challenge, of course it's QB, and it's not close. If you're talking about enduring physical beatings, then you can debate four or five different positions, including running back and nose tackle. There are a couple positions that have unique challenges. A tight end is challenged by having to be both a skill position player and enduring the physical challenge of blocking big men. Cornerbacks face the challenge of having to react to extremely fast and athletic WRs in an era where the rules all favor the offensive player. -
Frankly, Josh Allen is smarter than Brett Favre, and it's not close. I think Josh loves Brian Daboll's scheme and committed to playing within it. As he matures, he is playing with more and more discipline. Favre had amazing arm talent, but never played with great discipline. I think intelligence and the trend toward disciplined play within a system that caters to Allen's talent give Josh Allen a higher ceiling than Favre.

I don't know. I think he heeds to focus on his role as gunner. We don't want to put too much on his plate. And of course Stevenson will be available beginning in October.

Speed: John Brown vs E Sanders
BigAl2526 replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sanders isn't a 4.3 burner, but he can get deep. -
I was trying to be nice, but that's about the size of it.

Rodgers has long had something of a prickley personality. I understand he pretty much disowned his family years ago. Maybe Josh will become more of a diva over time, but I don't know that it's written in stone. I agree Josh makes friends easily. That's part of what is making him beloved as teammate by the rest of the team. I don't know that Aaron Rodgers inspires warm feelings on the part of all his teammates. Some love him as a leader and for the things he can do as a QB, but Josh gets that kind of admiration AND the warmth of friendship.

Hollister is a proven pass catcher on the pro level. Sweeney is not. He's not had much of a chance due to injury. Frankly, we don't know how good he is or isn't. Sweeney is a better blocker. Yes, Gilliam is short. He's also been little used in Buffalo's offense thus far. Of course, he played his college career as a tight end, so he knows the position. He's also very athletic. While he's been little used in the offense thus far, the Bills have seen lots of plays in practice and probably have a better grasp of his potential. Kumerow doesn't have tight end body mass, but he certainly has tight end height and reach. He has great hands and wins one on one battles with DBs. No, Kumerow is not going to run through linebackers, but there are going to be lots of occasions where he could serve as a safety valve in a similar manner to a tight end. At this point, nobody knows why the Bills chose to cut bait with Hollister, but the fact is they did, and they had some reason for doing so.. I expressed an opinion. You have a perfect right to a different one.

I think a collection of factors led to Hollister being released: 1. Sweeney was close to being healthy (practiced today) and gives Buffalo a more rounded TE than Hollister. Sweeney can block. 2. Reggie Gilliam can contribute in multiple TE sets when Buffalo wants to use him there. I understand he practiced as a tight end today. 3. Jake Kumerow can do a lot of the things a receiving TE can do. 4. Buffalo decided to go a little heavier on the OL and receiver position, though Stevenson was sent to the IR (available to return)

Buffalo Bills 2021 practice squad players
BigAl2526 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Cincinnati Bengals actually claimed him for their active roster. -
I wouldn't be upset if Buffalo swapped out Crosby for Doyle, but I don't think it's a urgent need. Though he's young, Brown has already flashed impressive ability. If they had to put him in, they can probably get by with Doyle, and if he struggles, Ryan Bates can play tackle. Doyle should continue to improve through the season.

Bills cuts to get to 53 [final info in the OP]
BigAl2526 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo is going to have more than one CB on the PS IMO, and that probably includes a couple of the rookies they just released. -

I don't think that Gilliam will line up as a TE more than a handful of times all season. He's going to spend most of his time in the backfield (a handful of times per game). I wouldn't be shocked if he lined up as WR every once in a while. -

BigAl2526 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are a few older veterans among the unsigned, but the Bills have shown no interest in any of them. The possibility of a quality CB being released by another team is slim. Most would be no better than those the Bills just cut. I expect at least a couple will end up on the PS. -
Stephen Ross is the one pushing for a Watson trade
BigAl2526 replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The good thing about that is that ownership changes much less frequently than GMs in the NFL. Ross is 81. If he's healthy, he could last another decade or more. It should be said that while Charles Robinson insists he's got reliable information that Ross is pushing for Watson, and Mike Florio agrees, the Miami Dolphins insist Ross doesn't involve himself in football decisions, and supports Tua Tagovailoa.
