Jets give D-lineman with 6 career starts $55m
BigAl2526 replied to 1ManRaid's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's listed on the Jets depth chart as a "DL," but is a starter ahead of Shaq Lawson. Presumably, he's on the outside most of the time He's 6'4" and 288. The bookend is 6'3" and 255 lbs. I presume that means he's a strong side or LDE. That means he'll line up across from Spencer Brown when they play Buffalo. If Brown is as good as he appears to be, and continues to develop, Franklin-Meyers will be all but invisible versus Buffalo. -
I would guess it happens, especially when there is an established relationship. Game tape, Im' sure is much more important. I'm sure the Bills coaching staff has gone over with a fine toothed comb the tape of KC's two losses this season. I'm sure they also endured a painful review of the playoff loss to KC last January.

Geno Smith is proof positive that what we think is true about a young player is not necessarily a lifetime curse. It may also be evidence of the mishandling of Geno Smith when he was a young QB. I am convinced that a significant number of QBs' careers have been ruined by teams that didn't understand how to handle them.

Too early to know when the rain arrives. The daytime is supposed to be dry. Lightning would cause a game delay.

Scouting The Kansas City Chiefs (Week 5 2021)
BigAl2526 replied to Dont Stop Billeiving's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even more important than running the ball on offense is sustaining drives. If the threat of the run opens up the pass, I don't mind Josh passing the ball at all. Don't take a lot of chances when you do it, but don't be afraid of it either. The reality is probably something of a balance between the run and pass. On defense, getting pressure from the front four is essential. -
What a jerk! We all wondered why Josh started the season slow. My theory was that the relative lack of reps in preseason left Josh with some rust he needed to work through. In any case, the trend has been toward improvement over the last 2 games. Realistically, when you have a small sample size (and 4 games is a small sample size) a bad game or two can skew your averages. If Nick Freakin Wright wants to use stats the way he was using them, he needs to wait until midseason. Mahomes may be killing Josh in the stat department right now, but Mahomes has thrown a lot more interceptions in key situations than Josh Allen and is at least as responsible for two losses as Josh Allen is for Buffalo's one loss.

That illustrates one of the major problems with officiating in the NFL, game to game inconsistency. In addition to everything else players have to try to be aware of the officiating crew's tendencies on that particular day. What infractions are they looking for? What will they let their opponents get away with doing?

W’s in the next two weeks - playoff football?
BigAl2526 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Buffalo beats KC, they have the inside track to home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The only team left on the schedule the Buffalo might not be favored to win is Tampa Bay, and Tampa Bay has been exposed. -
Despite the fact that the Bills are among the most talent laden teams in the league, I think most fans have some agreement about where Buffalo needs to focus in the 2022 draft. We probably need to assume that Emmanuel Sanders is gone. He's 34 years old and on a one year deal. Beasley also seems to be wearing out his welcome in Buffalo. It may be that Isaiah McKenzie will be able to step in into a slot receiver role. There are other receivers on the roster who could easily take reps at WR across from Diggs, but nobody has real deep speed. Buffalo could look there in the draft. Of course, they could look for a CB with some elite traits. They could also look to continue upgrading the offensive line. Lastly, the Bills need to find an alternative to Lotulelei at nose tackle. Lotulelei is good, better than most people think, but he's a bit overpriced and at 31 years old, he's closer to the end of his career than his beginning.

What is Wrong with Steve Belichick?
BigAl2526 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His father is Bill Belichick. That should explain any anti-social behavior you see from the kid. -
I think there was one contested ball he did not catch. I wouldn't really call it a drop.

Dolphins trade Jakeem Grant to Bears
BigAl2526 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Grant, if I'm correct, is one of the fastest receivers in the league. The Dolphins must have decided with Tua as their QB, speed in a WR is irrelevant. -
That's why GMs pay attention to hand size at the combine. We poke fun at it sometimes, but it means something.

Are the Cardinals for real?

Murray has most, if not all of Lamar Jackson's athleticism, and he's a far better passer. He is a nightmare for opposing teams to defend. -

I think Driskel was an emergency signing when Taylor was put on the IR. As I think about it, probably the Texans just haven't bothered to update their depth chart. I wouldn't be surprised if when Taylor comes back, Driskel either heads to the PS or is cut outright. -

I looked through their roster and missed him. Interestingly, Driskel is missing from the Texans' depth chart. -

I believe if Mills were to have gotten hurt, Houston would have had to use an emergency QB, someone who primarily plays a different position, but may have been a QB in a previous lifetime. Dawson Knox played QB in high school, so he could probably take snaps there in an emergency, but Buffalo sure wouldn't want to have to depend on him as a QB. For Houston, Deshaun Watson is on the Texans roster, but has not practiced and refuses to play for Houston, so they can't put him in. Whenn he's healthy, Tyrod Taylor is the only other QB available to the Texans. -

When it comes to offense, I agree. Josh had a shade under 250 yards, a very nice day, but it's not going to raise too many eyebrows. The run game was quite a bit more productive than is typical in this day and age, but it was the result of a rotation rather than one dominant running back. Buffalo did, however, have a huge day on defense. Granted it was against a rookie QB, and not one what enjoyed any hype coming out of college. Still, in some ways it was historically good. One of those elements was takeaways. I would guess that after this week, Buffalo will be in the lead or very close to it in turnover ratio. -

I know of a good number of Dunkin outlets in the Rochester area, often directly across the street from a Tim Horton's. -
Obviously, Boettger will be the replacement for Feliciano. He'll be fine. I guess Jaquan Johnson will be the primary replacement for Poyer, but I think Hamlin will get some reps. Johnson is supposed to be very smart. Hamlin has better size and athleticism.

Dolphins - Civil War? Will the Findom fall?
BigAl2526 replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Dolphins have been dysfunctional since Adam Gase was hired as head coach. The Jets have been dysfunctional since Rex Ryan was head coach, and so far conclusive evidence that it's over is lacking. Things are getting more dysfunctional by the minute at Foxboro. Meanwhile at OBD things are humming along like a well oiled machine. -
I still get to use the Bills in a future week. I may avoid the KC game though.

A little under 25% in the pool picked the Bengals, but I hear ya.
