  1. Jordan Miller this time. Jordan Miller is a young cornerback-came out of college in 2019. He had some promise as a college student. He ran a 4.4 40 as a junior but got injured. He ran OK at the combine (4.49) though he had not regained his earlier speed. Concerns seem to center around injury risk as he is somewhat slender ( 6'2" and 190 lbs) His strength is said to be his ball skills. Obviously, this is tweaking of the back end of the roster, and Miller faces long odds of ever making it on the field in the regular season, but there is some potential and some nice traits there.
  2. Could be a family matter, parents or sibling or something.
  3. Nick McCloud was known to have outstanding athleticism and size/speed ratio coming out of Ohio State. For whatever reason, his production didn't match his physical profile. When the Bills signed him as a free agent, it was with the hope that with time and good coaching he could develop into a solid NFL CB. He's been with the Bills now for two years. It looks like the Bills' investment may be paying off.
  4. If you don't like it, Nagee, give Brandon Beane a call when your rookie deal expires and sign your next contract in Buffalo. He would be a nice complement to what the Bills have at running back now.
  5. I was told after my appendectomy that appendicitis is one of the hardest things there is to get a firm diagnosis. The classic symptoms are low grade fever, elevated white blood cell count and "rebound tenderness." Rebound tenderness is when you press down on the area and then release the pressure quickly. It hurts for a moment when the pressure is released. The emergency room physician, who had terrible bedside manner, sent me home once saying my fever must be from a mild ear infection. My primary care guy followed up with a phone call a few hours later to ask how I felt. At that point, I had a fever of like 104 and felt like death warmed over. My doctor had me go back to the emergency room. This time a surgeon looked at me. I had a high grade fever and rebound tenderness, but my white blood cell count was absolutely normal. He decided the odds that I had appendicitis were high enough that surgery was indicated. After the surgery, he told my wife that my appendix may or may not have lasted until morning without rupturing.
  6. If they aren't present already, at some point the Bills will have NFL game officials present at practices. Part of teaching him will be to help him understand how much physicality is likely to be tolerated by officials and what will get you a penalty. My guess is it's harder to teach a young CB to be physical when he naturally shies away from it, than to get a physical cornerback to dial it back a bit.
  7. Methinks there are a bunch of us here who were born somewhere around the middle of the last century.
  8. My guess is they will play him for a drive or two in one preseason game.
  9. I was 30 in 1982 when my appendix came out. As it happens, my appendectomy was 2 days before Thanksgiving. They discharged me after serving a Thanksgiving dinner. It was disgusting. My wife and I celebrated Thanksgiving two days after the actual date.
  10. If OJ can figure out how to flip the switch, Buffalo may decide they will need to go with their no names as backup tight ends.
  11. I had my appendix out in 1982. Even then the whole issue was resolved pretty quickly. I was in the hospital 2 days and had to take it easy for a couple weeks. I imagine the hospital stay is even quicker now. It might even be outpatient surgery. I would guess he'll be starting to ease back into practice by mid August.
  12. Expect McDermott to play it verry cautiously regardless.
  13. When did Saffold's injury happen? If it was a couple weeks ago, then Saffold should be ready to go at the start of the season. Granted, chemistry is a real thing and it does take time to develop, but Saffold is a grizzled veteran, and should pick up pretty quickly on how he's going to fit in and what the Bills expect of him. Boettger's status at the start of the season was not at all unexpected. That's why they hired one of the best offensive line coaches in the league.
  14. The Jets thought he was going to anchor the left side of their offensive line into the 2030s.
  15. It's always good when the defense makes its big plays when the backup QB is in.
  16. Hence there are only some things Rousseau can learn from Von Miller. They are very different body types with very different skill sets. Rousseau can probably use some of what Miller can teach in the way of hand fighting, anticipating snap count, persistence and such. He's never going to have the bend that Miiller has around the edge though.
  17. I tend to stay away from radical predictions. Rousseau should improve year to year. He was very young and very raw coming out of college. He had lots of room to develop technique wise, and plenty of growth potential in terms of muscle development. It should be both fun and interesting to watch that development bear fruit this season, but I'm happy to let it happen as it happens rather than force a prediction on to him.
  18. Nobody is right about every prospect. There were lots of solid respectable football minds, including NFL GMs, who totally misjudged Josh Allen coming out of Wyoming.
  19. You think OBJ is interested in being a rental? Lots of luck with that.
  20. It's well known we don't have 7 starting caliber WRs on the roster, let alone 7 elite receivers.
  21. Josh Allen versus Ben Rothlisberger? Allen has a better arm, better mobility, better football intelligence, better character and is a better teammate. Rothlisberger has Super Bowl rings.
  22. Regardless of the player, signing another top receiver doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me right now. The Bills clearly think Gabe Davis is ready to step into a starting role across from Diggs. Signing OBJ essentially subverts all the development efforts that have gone into Davis. Moreover, it uses resources that Buffalo could spend on areas of the team that are not as deep and robust as WR, or use those resources to extend players they want to keep if they'd like to continue their elite rankings in the league.
  23. This. The article states more specifically that he was listed at 210lbs last season, but actually played at 220. He is up to 227 lbs now. Whether he played at 220 or 223 as has also been stated, 227 is only a modest weight gain. His trainer says the gain is muscle mass, and he's actually faster this year. As focused as Davis seems to be, there is no reason to disbelieve his trainer's claims.
  24. He was Joe Ferguson's Cole Beasley, sort of. A smallish receiver who made his living with quickness, route running and hands like glue.
  25. The fact that the Bills are the preseason favorite by many to win the Super Bowl Makes it just about impossible for him to win Coach of the Year. If the Bills win it all, well, that's just what was expected. Anything else is a disappointment.
