I don't disagree. My post was a suggestion for a way to encourage Josh to look at Knox more.
-
He's had a decent season. Essentially Knox has done everything asked of him this season. It would be incorrect to blame him for not doing more when he hasn't been asked. Tonight, he probably was kept in to block more than usual considering the "turnstile and potato" OTs Buffalo had to field. Allen is probably not conditioned to look for him in the way Patrick Mahomes is looking for Kelce. Allen is probably more comfortable with Diggs and Davis, so even when he's out in a pattern and open, he's not going to look at Knox first. I think Dorsey ought to design and call some plays where Knox is the first read.

Was he active for the game and sat on the bench, or was he inactive? Hopefully, whatever happened to prompt this action is a one time thing and he'll be able to contribute moving forward.

12/1/2022 - NFL Week #13 - Bills at Pats* - Post game thread
BigAl2526 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. I don't know what they expect defensive players to do. Hamlin's hit could have been the difference between an incomplete pass and a touchdownIt was definitely not helmet to helmet. On the whole, I thought it was an unspectacular but very solid win by the Bills. -
Buffalo has been through a difficult stretch. The injuries in particular have stressed the players. I'm picking Buffalo to beat New England, but it's not going to be an easy game. The "mini-bye the Bills have before their next game will do a lot to help them get their energy back, especially if the medical people decide Von Miller can play out the season with a brace.
-
I think the Bills are a better team than Miami. Miami caught Buffalo at perfect time. Buffalo was dealing with a bunch of injuries and the weather in Miami for the game was perfect to take advantage of the disparity in the two sidelines. As long as the injury situations are somewhat similar, I expect Buffalo to win the rematch in Buffalo.
-
Something like that is impossible to predict. Peterman does not have the arm that Geno Smith has, and that limits his ceiling. At best, he's probably a game managing backup, but he can make a career out of that if he can get his nerves under control and if he has improved his ability to read NFL defenses.
-
For the Bills, he was fine in practice, but his nerves got the best of him in games. After several years in the league, he may have calmed down enough to actually produce in games. I have nothing against him. He's been a fringe player not for quite a while, but he may have actually improved over time. Don't know if he'll ever get a chance to show it.

I'm assuming that Miller will need surgery at some point on his torn meniscus. The question is, do they do the surgery now or slap a brace on his knee and let him have surgery in February (after the Super Bowl). If Miller opts to wait on the surgery, and the tear isn't too bad, he may only need a week or two for the inflammation to calm down so he can play.

I expect that Tre White's reps will probably double next week. Elam will be another week removed from his injury, so the Bills should be OK at CB. If White can get back to locking down the opponent's top receiver, then the Bills can figure out how to control the rest of the receivers Buffalo faces. The guys they have all have experience going up against top flight NFL receivers. New England presents more of a threat running than receiving in any case.

Buffalo is the first team to win back to back home and away games in the same stadium -
Yeah, that's very true. The entire starting secondary was out at the same time for a while. Now Von freaking Miller is out. Hopefully Rousseau and Epenesa will be back next week, Otherwise the line play is going to be struggling. Mac Jones isn't a threat to have an explosive day, but Rhamondre Stevenson will be Derrick Henry like if Buffalo doesn't have most of their rotational pieces together on the D-line.
-
That's true, but if they are happening, Buffalo still needs to work through it. In the meantime, they have won their last two games. There are three tough division games coming up. Hopefully, the offense can click sufficiently to win all three, and is running more smoothly after those three games. The other issue is Von Miller's injury. Looks like he will miss at least two games, but it could be season ending. Hopefully it will be on the low end of the spectrum.
-
Human nature. Of course, it's not everybody, but lots of people can only remember back to the last thing a person did. Josh Allen and the whole offense is working through some stuff, but the team would look for the next decade and not find a replacement for Allen who has his talent. The team needs to keep their focus and work through the challenges. Detroit is a good team, and Buffalo managed to win despite wrestling with their own mistakes. If at some point it becomes obvious they can't work through their issues, then maybe Beane will need to look at a personnel overhaul, but we are nowhere near that point at the moment.
-
Buffalo has three consecutive division opponents coming up. Somehow, this was supposed to be an easy stretch of the schedule. It's not turning out that way. Hopefully Tre White can up his pitch count next week and the D-line can stay stout in the middle. With Von Miller possibly out next Thursday, and maybe beyond, Buffalo needs to get Rousseau and Epenesa healthy pronto.

Frankly, I would love it if the Bills had a dome. I think a dome fits the kind of high octane passing offense the Bills like to run with Josh Allen pulling the trigger. On the other hand it's not a decision that can be made only taking into account fans and football. There are a whole bunch of people in NY State, particularly down state, who think Buffalo should not have gotten a penny of state money to build a new stadium. The political climate would not have stood for Buffalo getting a dome. I think that is the reality of the situation.

He's a little faster than Moss, but wouldn't really bring much of anything different to the roster.

I checked out the injury report for the game at the official Bills site. I don't think there was a practice today, but an injury report was posted in any case. It looks like Detroit is dealing with a more problematic injury situation than the Bills at this point. All three interior offensive linemen were listed as non-participants as was one of their three starting WRs. They're also likely to be without their top CB. One other WR was listed as limited. Like Buffalo's Rousseau. one starting DE was listed as out, John Paschal. I assume that some of today's non-participants will be available on Thursday, but the Lions may be missing more players and more critical players. It's been a while since the opponent had more of an injury issue than Buffalo.
-
The Bills will have one practice session this week like last week. The difference is last week was not planned. The Bills practice on Thursday and expected to practice Friday. The weather forced a cancelation of the Friday practice. I suspect the format of the Tuesday practice will be a little different to cope with the fact that it is the only one. Specifically, since Josh is another week removed from his elbow injury, the number of pass attempts in practice will go up compared to last week when they were reduced as a precaution to prevent reaggravating the injury. I think the limited number of passing attempts in practice last week is at least partially the cause of his tentativeness and inaccuracy at the start of the Cleveland game.

Taking the visitors' locker room was McDermott's choice yesterday. He did it knowing the Bills would be visitors on Thanksgiving. It gave the Bills players a chance to get comfortable with it. It's a small thing, but McDermott looks for any edge he can get.

Is it OK if I made my prediction at 4:30 PM?

The Bills are trying to hang on now, until they can get some of their injured players back. Of course, it's the defense that's hurting right now at all three levels. Having Poyer back helped in the game today, but the Bills have been fielding a mostly backup secondary for what seems like forever. On the line, the Bills run an eight man rotation. They finished the game today with half of their defensive end rotation out with injury. Finally, they are missing half of their two LBs in their base nickel set. I think they made a concerted effort to stop the run against Cleveland, since that is supposed to be Cleveland's strength on offense. They were successful at that. I think Cleveland was more adept at operating a passing offense than Buffalo hoped. With everything else, Buffalo also had to play the game today on one day of practice to Cleveland's three days of practice. All things considered, I'm not disappointed at all with a 7 point win and giving up 300 yards+ through the air to Cleveland.
-
I'm hoping for a close and very sloppy game where neither team looks like they want to win. The outcome doesn't really matter too much.
-
I'm waiting for 71 to become the new 31.

Solid depth. I don't think he's a threat to upgrade the position as a starter.
