Defensive coordinators fall into the category of guys like Romeo Crennel, Gus Bradley, Steve Spagnuolo, and Raheem Morris who will only ever be interim head coaches. Lovie Smith broke out of this category by becoming the head coach of the Texans, but that's not exactly a highly sought after role.

I get what you're saying, but both of our safeties were already good players for 4 years with their original teams, so I can't really credit the Bills staff entirely for their development.

I think Safety is a likely choice because Poyer and Hyde are both on the wrong side of 30 and their backups are untested late-round picks. The safety position is extremely important in our defense and we need to have elite talent on the back end.

Yeah it's weird having this much depth at the wr position after an era where we couldn't lure any decent receivers to sign with us. I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like Kumerow or Gentry gets poached from our practice squad and becomes an instant contributer for another team.
