  1. It is crazy for sure! Hey, stop picking on my overpriced A6 Beetle!
  2. BMW's are great cars, I almost purchased a 540 in 2019 (bought an A6 instead) and have recently lobbied my wife to purchase a 440 convertible. The stigma is that generally people feel BMW drivers are aggressive on the road and drive too fast. What you consider fun, others on the road may consider dangerous or just rude. I understand the cars are sporty and as such owners of them often drive fast. That has led to negative feelings in the public regarding the brand. I'm sure you have heard the jokes regarding BMW's and turn signals not working among other comments. In conversations with my neighbor/BMW GM he indicated that the brand has great loyalty among owners but often struggles with negative sentiment among consumers due to the beforementioned reasons. We found it interesting that a car company with a good product, engaging marketing and competitive price point is negatively impacted by the brands current owners use of the product. In his words this often leads to lost sales as some consumers will not even consider the brand in their purchasing decision. My wife as an example refuses to purchase a 440 convertible (even though we could get a great deal through him) because she has a negative view of owners of the brand. She will likely end up purchasing an S5 even though the BMW is the superior product.
  3. The stigma is real and it negatively impacts BMW sale. Show off's drive MB's and Lexus's, you're freaking kidding right?
  4. What model do you have? Our neighbor is the GM of a BMW dealership in NH. He got his girlfriend the previous generation i4 hardtop. Very cool watching the pieces fold together as it goes up and down. My wife will probably get a S5 convertible next year when they roll the latest A5 changes into the S platform. She absolutely refuses to even look at BMW due to the stigma with the brand.
  5. I remember the good old days (4 years ago) when Zatac the cool "purple pill" was being prescribed as safe. Too bad GSK knew it caused cancer 40 years ago. GSK was warned repeatedly about Zantac impurity but played down risks: Bloomberg "..... the publication reported that over the span of multiple decades, GSK was warned by its own scientists and independent researchers about a potential cancer-causing impurity in the drug. The FDA considered the risks when it reviewed the drug, but the agency ultimately approved Zantac, or ranitidine, in 1983." Don't worry folks, the medical community has said the vaccines are "extra safe". I'm sure we can trust them this time......
  6. In the 2,500 km race, Dixon the transgender athlete, is an astounding 359 km (about 223 miles) ahead of the next closest competitor..... Transgender cyclist obliterating rivals; sports world reacts
  7. Electric cars are getting rid of AM radio as the emissions from the electric motors are so great that it drastically interferes with AM radio reception. The Reason Why Electric Cars Are Being Forced To Abandon AM Radio I'm sure these high power, low frequency radiated emissions pose no health risks to occupants riding in these vehicles for extended periods of time every day.
  8. If we're going to equate "global warming" with weather patterns, here you go. Most snowfall ever recorded in June on Mount Washington and we aren't even past the middle of June. Obviously, it's global cooling...... Mount Washington reports snowiest June on record
  9. Classy..... Trans activists flaunt bare breasts at White House Pride Month event
  10. Does not matter if the spillage was accidental or the documents were returned in a timely fashion. The documents were mishandled and per the law "18 USC § 1924 deals with the unauthorized removal of classified documents. Under this statute, it is a crime for any officer, employee, contractor, or consultant of the United States government to knowingly possess classified documents and remove them without proper authorization". I have no sympathy for Trump, Pence or Biden. They knew better and broke the law, too bad, so sad. Employees of defense contractors deal with this all the time, they don't get a break because it was an accident. I used to work for a defense contractor, had peers written up and even fired for what many would consider minor infractions regarding handling documents. Items as minor as improper logging of documents removed and checked back into secure containers (safes). Not following the proper procedures when opening and closing secure locations (office space or labs). These infractions in no way pertained to the security of documents themselves, just not following the correct procedure for the handling of the documents. I agree that the records and security apparatus is broke. We have 2 presidents and a VP that have shown ;little regard for classified documents. When a 21-year-old USAF National Guardsman has access to information with national security implications we should all question what is actually working.
  11. I have no problem with the Trump indictment provided Biden and Pence are indicted on the classified documents they had.
  12. Lots of news recently regarding alternatives to EV's. The large Porche eFuel plant in Texas is a go. Honeywell is in the news focusing on aviation fuel. Honeywell is developing the technology to produce SAF The Toyota Hydrogen ICE is interesting as it is carbon neutral and is a better fit for the existing transportation infrastructure. The technology also doesn't require the use of rare earth metals. Toyota’s Hydrogen Combustion Engine Has The Potential To Make EVs Obsolete Will be interesting to see if these technologies gain traction as nearly half of Americans recently polled will not be purchasing an EV as their next vehicle.
  13. It's always about the money. "Do no harm" has turned into "there is no such thing as a bad pill or shot". How often are you harassed at doctor's appointments for blood work, multivitamins, fish oil, HPV, flu, shingles and covid booster shots? They sit there and condescendingly tell you how important these treatments are when the PA speaking to you is obese. How much time is spent in an appointment discussing the most important subject, lifestyle? Almost none. Weight, exercise, diet, sleep, drinking, smoking, drugs use, sexual activity, chronic pain are all glossed over at best even though they have the largest impact on a patient's health. There's no money in lifestyle, lots of cash in pills and shots.
  14. The child sex change industry is going to end soon. Doctors, counselors, politicians or even parents aren't going to stop it, insurance companies are. Chloe's is the first in what could become thousands of lawsuits regarding doctors providing surgeries and hormone blockers to minors. In 2021 alone over 5,000 minors in the US were being prescribed puberty blockers by medical professionals. 15. A "not in service" wind turbine spins out of control yesterday. The turbine has been out of service since April 2022....lots of green energy there! Crews halt damaged wind turbine that was spinning out of control on Deer Island
  16. Florida is a very well-run state. There's a reason why the population there is booming and it's not just the weather. As an example, natural disasters that would cripple states for years, Florida recovers from in months or less. Desantis doesn't deserve credit for all the successes but he's not a Hochul or Newsom whose states are losing population and clearly going backwards. Voters see the success of Florida and will give Desantis some credit for that. Many (myself included) have felt governors make the best presidents as they have held an executive roll where they had to work with a legislature and manage a state budget (among other responsibilities). As such he has public sector executive level experience going for him as well. 17. Glad you're enjoying the area, feel bad for Detroit and the people there. I moved to NH years ago but go back frequently to see family. IMO more than the hurricane I think the combination of NAFTA and anchor companies in Rochester failing had a bigger impact. Lots of school consolidations in the late 90's hurt small towns some of whom were left without a school. The influx of large box stores finished off local merchants who had been struggling for a while. I felt like it seemed to impact everyplace west of Corning along Rt 17/I-86. Oddly enough a few years ago I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner of Secret Caverns up toward Cobleskill. He indicated that they saw the same in the rural areas along the I-88 corridor. We thought it odd that both areas saw a similar decline.
  18. I was just a kid but I still remember seeing the bridge in Carson (by Canisteo) washed away and seeing people push old cars over the levee to keep it from washing out. There was a famous picture of a picnic table on the top of a telephone pole at Canacadea park. Just for the record Chris, not everyone down that way is related. Pretty sure B-Man and I aren't.....well, kinda sure!
  19. It's all good! I remember the old days when the downtown of Hornell and Canisteo were filled with thriving shops!
  20. Steuben Country hasn't declared a state of emergency as apparently no migrants want to go there........ Kidding, kidding, I grew up there!

  23. I think there's a lot of truth to the US not wanting this war to end to quickly and it goes beyond escalation. By managing the type and number weapons given to Ukraine the west can control the pace of conflict. Through dragging this out Russia's capabilities are methodically being bled dry. When the war eventually ends in Ukraine's favor Russia will militarily and economically be a shell of its former self. The military assets untouched by the conflict will have limited use keeping restless states in line and I would expect the Russian Federation to fragment. What does this cost the US, a couple of billion dollars? We piss away that kind of money without blinking an eye. If a couple hundred thousand Ukrainians (and Russians) die no biggie, we'll just call it the "cost of freedom".
  24. Fetterman looks ridiculous. It's hard to believe we've come to the point where people dressing like clowns make it to the US Senate.
  25. I'll be polite and say you need to educate yourself on the mission of the Space Force. All of the satellites in use by the military are managed by Space Force personnel. This mission is critical for; surveillance, targeting, and global military communications. You may have even heard (and likely have used) the Global Positioning System used for navigation which is operated by the Space Force out of CO.
