  1. I am sure the Bills were in on many of the free agents that signed elsewhere yesterday. For most free agents, it was about money and team location, not about being on the cusp of the Super Bowl. Older veterans that have made a lot of money may have a different view at this point of their careers.
  2. I would be surprised if we wanted Samuel. Smaller sized CB and injury history.
  3. Given the available cap space this year compared to last year, I expected the Bills to come out of free agency this year with at least a new starting CB opposite Benford, a new starting tree safety, depth at DT and/or DE and possibly an upgrade at WR. It is still really early, but I am not sure there is a starting caliber CB or free safety free agent still available. At this point, I hope we are not planning to bring back Douglas, Miller and/or Hamlin.
  4. JP was the #3 on the Chargers. Why would we think he could be our #1?
  5. I don't think Palmer is a number one WR, and he may not be a number two based on his past production. I hope I am wrong.
  6. Getting the sense that with this group of free agents it was all about money and location, not what team is competitive for a Super Bowl appearance. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
  7. Don't disagree that Douglas has declined, but we need a starting CB opposite Benford and we don't have a starting caliber CB on the roster to fill the spot (Elam should be traded or released). Are there any CBs left in free agency that are starting level? Not sure I would want to take a CB in the first or second round and hope that he would be an instant starter (plus the strength of this draft is DL).
  8. Haven't hear anything about Douglas today. Maybe he will be back?
  9. No panic, but I can't imagine that this first day has gone the way the Bills planned.
  10. Hope so too. Injury issues and kind of small for what we need at CB.
  11. No much left for DL free agents. Don't we need about four more DL to be where we need to be? Phillips, Smoot, Toohill/Jeffereson and Austin are free agents and we released Miller.
  12. Really disappointing start to free agency, but there wasn't a lot of talent available at our positions of need and the players that were available have received dollars way above what they should have. Many more days ahead before the draft and the start of the season, but I am a bit perplexed with the signing of Palmer. He can't be our new number one WR, can he? Is he really an improvement over Samuels or Coleman? Production was poor with the Chargers, and the Harbaugh excuse doesn't really hold up given that Harbaugh has been with the Chargers only for one year (plus McConkey had a great year). I hope we are not satisfied at WR, because outside of Shakir, I am not sure this is even a mediocre group. Still need a number one WR.
  13. Don't like the Palmer signing at all. He has played with a very good QB with the Chargers (Herbert) and has not done much. I don't get this one.
  14. I had thought we would come out of today with a starting safety and CB. Not sure it happens now.
  15. Kind of slim pickings already for the currently available free agents (and way overpriced for the ones that have signed).
  16. Would be happy with Holland, DJ Reed, Adebo or Ward, and Bobby Brown. That would fill many of our needs.
  17. Adams would have looked good in a Bills' uniform. Dollar amount was not that bad.
  18. I have a feeling the Bills will trade Elam, so maybe a starting CB in free agency and then draft a CB (or two) in the draft.
  19. It would makes sense to focus on safety and CB in free agency and then use draft picks for the DL, since DL is supposedly the strongest group in this year's draft.
  20. Is this the year that there is a lot of worthwhile FA talent to sign and make a cap push? The free agents available are generally not difference makers. Trades are always a possibility, but I think the free agent pool, particularly in the areas that we have the greatest need, is weak.
  21. I like this deal and the Shakir deal. While I like Bernard, that seemed to be an overpay for an undersized LB. Maybe the Bills believe Bernard's play will be even better with a stronger interior d-line. We will see.
  22. Rousseau is going to be 25 in April and was one year away from being a potential free agent. Assuming he was injury free and showed continued improvement, he would have cost a lot more next season to re-sign and would have gotten much more in free agency with the projected cap increases.
  23. Doesn't look like there are many options on our roster for outright release to free up significant cap space, other than Miller. Wondering if the Bills are trying to get Milano to reduce his cap number. Not suggesting the Bills do this, but if the Bills cut Milano with a post June 1st designation, it would free up almost $10 million (cutting him now (i.e., pre June 1st) would negatively impact our cap situation). Edwards, if released now, would free up about $4 million in cap space. Milano and Edwards would be my two surprise cuts, but I hope neither are released.
  24. I have not seen many restructures or roster moves disclosed for teams so far, certainly less than I would have expected at this point. I would think teams need to know what kind of flexibility they will have to sign free agents with the negotiating window opening on Monday and then needing to be cap compliant by Wednesday.
