Superbowl Game Thread - Chiefs vs Eagles
DapperCam replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
TBH if I’m Reid I’m going ultra conservative this drive. Just get into halftime and regroup. I’m hoping they keep throwing into the teeth of the defense instead. -

Sweat is a free agent, just sayin. -

I think you need good DBs and a good pass rush. You need the DBs to hold long enough for the pass rush to get there. -

KC has a totally mediocre offense. If Rice loses his burst from his injury it will be more of the same next year. -

I don’t think you can punt in FG range -
Deebo Samuel Granted Permission to Seek Trade

If the 49ers elect to cut him for cap relief (not sure if that's a realistic scenario), I wouldn't be opposed to taking a look. -
Super Bowl LIX - Chiefs vs Eagles - Pregame thread

If there isn't a major controversial call in the favor of the Chiefs I'll eat my hat. This is the battle of the elite defenses, so expect a game like the AFC championship game last season which ended 17-10 in KC's favor. I won't be watching. Not in protest, but I decided to stop hate watching KC games at some point during the season. It just isn't a mentally healthy activity. -
Do fans of the teams even go? My understanding is that it's mostly rich people and corporate suits going for the "experience". Imagine you are trying to close a $500k/yr enterprise software subscription. Going to the game on the company's dime to schmooze can help close that deal.

Rodgers was still okay last year, he’s just lost his mobility that used to buy himself time. He could still start somewhere. If the Jets are blowing it up, maybe we could steal one of their good skill players…

Matthew Smiley out as Special Teams coach
DapperCam replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, but I’d argue we haven’t really had the talent to have a top defense the past 3 seasons. 2022 was the season after White tore his ACL, Von tore his mid season, and Poyer/Hyde were past their All Pro season and were on the decline. In retrospect the coaching has been okay if you look at the talent on defense each season, it’s been pretty poor recently. -

His cap hit isn’t crazy, but I’m not sure he’s what we need. -

Frazier was essentially fired as well. Just allowed him to go out on his own terms. -
This Hall of Fame index score has Allen currently in the 40s: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/hof/hofm_QB.htm Top 10 of: - Brady - Manning - Rodgers - Favre - Unitas - Montana - Brees - Elway - Marino - Tarkenton Seems like the accumulation of seasons is important in this index. Jim Kelly is actually the lowest rated QB in the hall on this.

The Ravens had by far the #1 defense last year. In the big game of the year that cemented Lamar’s MVP, they got 5 interceptions! The narrative that Lamar carried last year’s team to the #1 seed is revisionist history IMO.
-
I think they straight up tell the players the results. That’s why Allen showed up with an entourage and they sat him right in the center of the front row. You think an NFL player is going to write an acceptance speech if they don’t know for sure they are going to win? Some of these guys can barely write a tweet.
-
Hopefully it turns out better than the last Bills MVP that went to Hollywood.
-
They are an incredibly coddled/spoiled fanbase. They won the Super Bowl in their fifth year in the league, and then they won another one. They’ve made the playoffs 16/29 times (and that is with missing the first 4 seasons). Some of their older fans (boomers and older gen X) experienced losing their team, but the younger fans only know a team that almost always makes the playoffs and has an MVP or DPoTY every few seasons.
-
I did a quick glance over the results and it seemed close enough where there wasn’t huge bias IMO. Only a difference of a couple voters between the two.
-
A checkbox checked off. Now let’s get that SB. Hoping this allows the offense to play even looser next year and with a lot of confidence considering they are probably running it back with 95% of the same people.
-
Bill Belichick and Andy Reid not winning 98% of the coach of the year awards the last 25 years makes no sense.
-
I half expect them to give it to Lamar and then zoom in on Allen with that 1000 yard stare like all the playoff games.
-
I’m not sure how other award shows are typically run, but everybody involved here definitely already know the results.
-
I love Allen, but he’s absolutely a flopper, he complains to the refs all the time, and he is the #1 trash talker in the league. How exactly did he win the sportsmanship award?

It is wild that Chase got the receiving triple crown (which happens less often than a 2k rushing yard RB) and was 3rd in voting for OPOY.
