If he outkicks his coverage by 20 yards, maybe they have time to catch up to the returner around the spot a normal punt would land, lol.
-
That Trey Lance throw doesn’t impress me that much. Those go routes don’t require reading the defense. Just grip it and rip it.
-
I tend to agree, but there will be some decision making between Edmunds, Poyer, Oliver and Knox. Doubt they can retain them all.

Where will Devin Singletary end up after this season?
DapperCam replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he’s gone because some other team will pay him more than we will. -
Even if we can’t afford Oliver next year, sounds like he’s going to have a great contract season.

Buffalo Bills rookies report to training camp today!

I’m just here for the Araiza footage. -
Epenesa, Ford & Moss -Are they outta here?
DapperCam replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I doubt any get cut. I would say Moss is in the most danger. No way they cut Epenesa unless he has a terrible camp. I doubt they cut Ford unless they sign/trade for a vet to take his spot at depth G. -
Baker Mayfield to Carolina rumors heating up...
DapperCam replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Baker is pretty good and had an unfortunate injury last season that he shouldn’t have played through. If it’s fully healed I’m surprised QB-needy teams aren’t lining up. Maybe they all think the Browns will have to cut him and don’t want to give up assets. -
He doesn’t have to beat out Knox and Howard. He just has to beat out Tommy Sweeney.

What position concerns you the most?
DapperCam replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of positions I could see struggling. 1. CB - We’re starting a rookie. Rookie CBs struggle all the time. They probably struggle more than have good seasons. Okudah was drafted 3rd overall and was maybe the worst CB in the league his rookie year. Also White’s injury and when he’ll be back factor into this as well. 2. G - Saffold is old and injury prone and Titans fans weren’t too impressed with him last year. Bates doesn’t have a proven track record. After them we have Ford who stinks. 3. RT - Brown had ups and downs last year and could easily regress. He could also explode into a pro bowler, so we’ll have to see. 4. DE - Von Miller should have a good year. Basham, Epenesa, and Rousseau have a lot to prove. Groot should have a good year I think, but if he plateaus a bit I wouldn’t be completely shocked either. 5. P - Haack was the worst punter in the league last year and Araiza is a “raw” rookie. Hopefully we aren’t punting too much this year anyway. All teams have question marks though, and we have Josh Allen. -
I would probably stop watching the Bills games while he was on the team and just catch the prime time games of other teams to get my fix. I would also become very turned off of management and ownership selling their souls like that. It’s especially bad because the QB is the face of the franchise and the most important player. Not sure what the Browns were thinking.

Idk about healthy, he had a terrible hip injury last year that required surgery. Gotta think it’s at least a little stiff. One of my favorite players of the drought Bills, wish we could have made the playoffs with him. Would be cool if he retired a Bill.

Allen tied for 5th lowest checkdown rate in NFL
DapperCam replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
They started incorporating checkdowns to Singletary at the end of the season and it seemed to really improve the offense. (Although these were 5-10 yard “check downs” so I’m not sure if they count for this stat). -
Maybe we should extend Knox now before his price tag goes up.

Josh Allen might be attending TE University for a few days?
DapperCam replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe some covert recruiting…probably to spend time with his bud Knox as well. -
Our top weaknesses last year: Offensive Line Williams: Pretty bad all year, especially when he was at tackle. I think he pretty much lost the Jags game for us. Isn't even signed to a team right now. Feliciano: Got benched and couldn't stay healthy, now signed with the Giants I guess to be their center? Ford: Not good at all. If he got cut, I don't think he would stick with another team. Brown: A lot of potential but didn't play very well. Morse: Good in pass blocking, not a good run blocker. The guards next to him have been pretty bad, so it is hard to judge him fairly. Dawkins: Was pretty bad the first half of the year. I'll chalk that up to COVID. Offensive play calling Just weird for the first 3/4 of the year. Refused to run, refused to take underneath stuff. When they did choose to run, it would be up the gut for nothing. Tons of stalled drives which didn't make sense based on our talent. Didn't get McKenzie involved or Gabe Davis. Bad red zone play calling. Alternated between running Allen to death, or not running him at all. CB2 Levi Wallace got picked on all year. Defensive Line (Sacks and Run D) Bills were middle of the pack for sacks. Considering the weak schedule we faced, the amount of cap/draft assets spent on the D-Line and the quality of our defense otherwise, this should have been higher. Run defense was also middle of the pack. I think this is because the interior of our defensive line was all over the place. Star was in and out of the lineup, and Harrison Phillips wasn't a true nose tackle. Addison and Hughes also didn't set the edge well. Edmunds seems to always pick the wrong gap (maybe he's just doing his assignment, I don't know). Punter Haack stunk and was the worst punter in the NFL last year. He cost us the Steelers game with his slow as molasses release. I think those weaknesses are the same as our current weaknesses, but we tried to address them: Offensive Line Jettisoned Williams and Feliciano. Retained Bates by matching his offer sheet Extended Morse (meh, but better than creating a hole at center) Hopefully Dawkins will be better for the full season with no COVID Hopefully Brown will be better with another year of experience Signed Saffold to hopefully improve on Feliciano/Ford. Hired Kromer, probably the biggest thing here! Offensive play calling Daboll has been replaced with Dorsey. Hard to know if this will be better or worse. CB2 Drafted Kaiir Elam Kind of surprised no vet CB added, maybe that will still happen... Defensive Line Jettisoned Hughes, Addison, Star, Butler, Harrison Phillips, Zimmer Added Von Miller, Jordan Phillips, Shaq Lawson, Jones and Settle Punter Drafted Araiza. He'll still need to beat our Haack in camp TLDR: Will rookie Elam be better than veteran Wallace? Will Saffold/Bates be better than Mongo/Williams? Will Dorsey be better than Daboll? Will Von Miller/Lawson be better than Hughes/Addison? Will Jones/Settle/J. Phillips be better than Star/H. Phillips/Zimmer? Will Kromer be better than Bobby Johnson? Will Araiza be better than Haack?

Both taken at the very end of the 2nd round. Look at the bottom of the second/beginning of the third the past five years or so. It's a 50/50 chance that those picks are total busts let alone immediate starters (for any team, not just the Bills).

Didn't Epenesa kill Tua? I see some nice things from Epenesa, especially speed when he gets near the QB. He doesn't seem to get playing time, so I don't think he's impressing the coaches much.

Rd 2, Pick 63 (31): RB James Cook, Georgia
DapperCam replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t really understand seeing him as a third down back this year with an increased role as the season goes on “limiting his ceiling”. He’ll get his chance to prove it, and the Bills probably hope he’ll show he’s the guy for the following season when Singletary’s contract is up. Motor has already shown he’s a good every down back though. He will be tough to unseat by a rookie. -
Without the 13 seconds debacle I think we win the SB, so I have to disagree…

Rd 2, Pick 63 (31): RB James Cook, Georgia
DapperCam replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
A little bit of a reach in my opinion, and we probably could have gotten a little bit more positional value out of this pick. I think he'll be our 3rd down back if he shows that he can be a good pass blocker. I expect 5 or so runs per game and 3-5 targets (that's about 15% of the offensive plays). I'm thinking screen passes, slants, wheel routes, etc. Singletary will still be the every down back IMO. If he shows he's really dangerous, I could see carries and targets increasing as the year goes on. Singletary is in the last year of his contract, and Cook will be given the chance to take over the #1 role next year. -
Rd 6, Pick 180 (1): Punter Matt Araiza, San Diego State
DapperCam replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think he would really have to be bad in training camp to not beat out Haack. We already know that he can flip the field with his leg and Haack can’t. Bills are going to be going for it midfield this year on 4th down IMO, so the directional touch stuff is less important. Haack’s net avg was 38 yards last year. We could punt from our 40 yard line, Araiza could boom it for a touchback and that would be a net of 40 yards already beating Haack’s numbers. Not to mention the gain when we are punting deeper than that.
