I had a thought... Maybe they brought in Norman to be a sort of player-coach to support the young CBs on the roster. Nobody knows the scheme as well as Norman, and he's obviously in good with the coaching staff. Maybe practicing with Norman can help make a light bulb go off for Elam?

It does feel like if they slammed Murray or Harris into the line for 3 ypc the entire game we would have been a lot better off. It would have kept the Jags pass rushers from pinning their ears back, made for more manageable 2nd/3rd down, and kept the TOP closer. The final Jags scores were because the Bills defense was exhausted.

I get the sentiment. We can have a “development year” on defense while still being a darned good team. Jackson, Benford and Johnson are an okay CB trio. As long as they can stay healthy, our backend should be okay. I’m sure Elam will be getting some more opportunities too. Jones doesn’t really have a replacement on the roster, but let’s see what Oliver can do with more on his plate. Dorian Williams and Bernard will be getting the baptism by fire treatment. The sad part is this felt like a potential Super Bowl year, and now it feels more like a “make the playoffs and hope for the best” year.

Ford will get his chance, and if he stinks I think we could make a move. Harrison Phillips would be cool. He was a fan favorite.

They have been calling essentially zero offensive holding on the o-line all year. And then they call Torrence who went his entire college career without a holding penalty twice in one drive? How many times has a guard been called for holding in the entire NFL this year? I would be the number is very low. I’m assuming Torrence made a yo mamma joke against the ref or something, because things aren’t adding up.

Jags vs Bills had the most total penalty flags thrown with 25. Also note that the Bills had zero pre-snap penalties, and I think only one offside. So all of the rest of the penalties were what I would call “judgement calls”. Pretty much a brutal ref performance, and I kind of wonder if they were jet legged just like the players and fans.

I don’t know if one team benefitted more, but the refs made this game borderline unwatchable. No way I would have kept watching if I wasn’t a Bills fan.

It’s not just Milano. It’s Jones (if he had a torn pec), and White. There just aren’t replacements for those guys. Teams are going to run all over us, and dominate time of possession the rest of the year. Jones was our run D. Of course we have a chance as long as we have Allen, but I think it is significantly diminished now.

Watching other games just makes it so much more obvious how unwatchable the flag-fest was this morning.

We’ll have to agree to disagree then. Their effort was admirable, but the TOP was 2:1 in favor of the Jags and it wasn’t just because the offense couldn’t get a first down.

Bills defense couldn’t get off the field and the game would have been a blowout if not for big individual plays in the red zone. It was a great effort, but it was their worst game of the year by far and they definitely looked jet lagged.
