Actions speak louder than words. I'm sure no one wants to be a cancer, but by putting in the public domain he's increased the risk of being called one. Why would fans be angry at Cook for scoring touchdowns? That's false equivalence. I think everyone can understand him wanting more money, and the majority agree he deserves an increase on his current contract. The way he's made it public is the issue.

There's no point throwing good money after bad. Knox's contract is excessive and it shouldn't be used as a base for others.

I want Shakir to sign long term. Chemistry is key and he seems to have it more than anyone else with Josh. That said, he would be too big a luxury at the amount stated. Get him down to around $15m and have him sign. Cook is the same, sign him up but not at that amount. $10m-$12m is about right. Benford is elite but made of glass. Agree with those who said let him play out 2025 and judge his concussion status. I think Bernard is the only one on the list who works when it comes to both salary level and health.

I suppose it's only a power if are on the player's side. If it leaks that the Bills are offering Josh an extension below market value, the fans will round on Beane. In this case, with the amount requested seeming slightly excessive after one strong year - particularly considering how large RB contracts have hurt the Colts and the Niners due to injury - then instead it gives the Bills more flexibility in the fans eyes. It depends on the impact on the locker room. You assume it will have none; on purely the salary situation you may be right. But he's now shown himself to be someone who is happy to parade agitation or upset with the team on social media. Remember what happened with a certain WR when he showed a willingness to do that, and the impact it especially had on Josh? I'm not saying Cook will be like that when it comes to play calls, player relationships etc. But it seems more likely than it did before and IMO should be something else taken into consideration.

It's his ACTIONS which are causing the problem for me. Not however much he's asking for. I'm not annoyed with him wanting to get paid. I'm annoyed with the social media games he's playing. He could keep everything behind closed doors but he's decided to play up instead. For what Cook brings to the team, he should be below Barkley. And if they can't reach that agreement then it's a case of moving on, building up the defense and seeing who is available in the run game.

It's true, a team may well decide to pay him 15m. But, if so, it shouldn't be the Bills.
