So, defense & a running game do win in today’s NFL. Josh Allen had one of the greatest passing games ever & we still lost. Joe Burrow had a very average passing game, including a big 4th quarter interception & Cincinnati still won.

Wide right was worse for me, so was Tennessee’s forward pass on the kick return. This was such a gut punch, but Josh Allen’s incredible clutch performance has me encouraged that we will be back. I will no longer agree with anyone saying he can’t win the big one. He proved that he can…twice in one game.

We would have scored another TD ( KC couldn’t stop us, either). Then we could’ve gone for 2 to decide the game.

Kicking out of the end zone with only 13 seconds left wasn’t the big blunder. A squib kick could have been immediately kneeled down, anyway. Playing soft prevent 2 plays in a row was the blunder. That was horrible defense. I agree that Hill’s short crossing route that he turned into a 64 yd TD probably scared us into the prevent decision. Still, that was what cost us the game.

I agree with this, but with one difference: Josh Allen played both playoff games at a Super Bowl MVP level. It took horrible defense to lose this game. Beane does need to make some big offseason moves. I do find encouragement knowing that Mahomes played one of his best games ever & only incredibly horrific D by Buffalo in the last 13 seconds & just as importantly KC winning the coin toss, kept Mahomes from losing. Let’s not blow easy games next season and play them at Buffalo next January. Anyone objectively watching games today knows the 2 best teams in the NFL played in KC tonight.

-A DE who disrupts consistently -A very good RB -One more good, young WR -One more legit TE -Lower the overall age of the roster -Speed, speed & speed, especially on D. We have a solid defense, but lack speed overall. I like our receivers overall ( we must re-sign Davis), but the yards after catch for KC tonight had to be way more than ours. We don’t have WRs that break many tackles. Singletary is OK, but a big RB, who can still move, would save wear & tear on Allen.

Josh Allen proved he is a MVP-level, Super Bowl winning level QB. That should draw good free agents to Buffalo.

The NFL OT rule needs to be reworked, at least for playoff games. Everyone knew that whoever won the coin toss would win that game. The coin toss shouldn’t be that big of a determining factor in a playoff game.

The good news with this defeat is Josh Allen. He was incredible! Josh had 2 big TD passes AFTER the 2 minute warning! With Josh Allen in Buffalo, we will be back! So will Gabe Davis! We need a legit #1 defense. This year we were a great defense on paper only.

More than anything, Shaw’s list shows passer ratings in the playoffs aren’t everything. #16 & #10 should be 1st & 2nd. I think it’s a more relevant regular season stat. Playoff games are about winning in whatever way possible. Also, the number of games played is highly variable. Regardless, I’d rather have that 4th rated guy over any other current QB!

Although this ticket policy is for the next game & Cincinnati fans, Buffalo definitely contributed to this policy. I was at the 2019 game in Nashville. There were almost as many Bills fans as Titan fans at that game. One Nashville columnist said it was the largest opposing fan crowd he had ever seen at a Titans game. Another local media person said something along the lines of “people have been complaining the crowd noise hasn’t been loud enough in Nissan Stadium. Well, I heard a very loud crowd response today, unfortunately it was when Buffalo scored!” A very large number of us will find a way to get our tickets if both teams win this weekend.

I don’t think it’s Super Bowl or bust, but it is good to know you have beaten or should have beaten what may be the 3 opponents you could face to win the Super Bowl (KC, Tennessee & Tampa Bay). We should be playing with a high level of confidence.

I coached several years of my son’s football & basketball games. I never was a ref. I did however learn to be friendly with refs and I almost always felt I got a fair deal. Of course, I always figured elementary and middle school refs are about as good as elementary and middle school players! That keeps your perspective as a coach! With NFL refs, my take is they know they are being watched on every play by millions of people, dozens of cameras & almost every call is instantly reviewable. They also know they are being watched by their spouses, kids, friends, etc. No one wants to screw up in front of everybody they know & love. I usually get upset at ref calls multiple times every game, but I keep myself from fixating on them because of my previous points.

This game shows what Josh Allen can be with the offensive line giving him time & a running game that is effective. My son was thrilled when when Buffalo drafted Josh Allen. He wanted Allen above every QB in the 2018 draft. It took me a season or 2 to see how right my son was. Now, after seeing him play & his character on & especially off the field, I wouldn’t trade him for any other QB in the NFL!

I love the thread title. I was just describing this game to a friend who is a big baseball fan in this baseball analogy: Josh Allen just threw a no hitter/ perfect game & Buffalo won 15-0!

We went to the Bills game in Kansas City in October. Josh played a great game there in a very hostile environment. Arrowhead is built with incredible acoustics. Even after the long halftime weather delay & with the stadium only 60% full, the crowd noise was still deafening. I know we are capable of beating them again, but it’s going to take another great offensive & defensive effort. But right now I’m just replaying in my mind the best all around Buffalo game in many, many years!

Anyone who objectively studies COVID data, or has a relative who works in health care (like my daughter), knows the hospitalization, ICU & death rates are dramatically improved if you are fully vaccinated. Today that means 3 doses. That is why NFL policy has favored vaccinated players over unvaccinated players. The latest NFL policy changes are even more favorable to vaccinated players. Any NFL player who is still trying to argue for more favorable policies for unvaccinated players is wasting their time. There is no chance of that happening. From a purely sporting perspective, the teams with the highest percent of vaccinated players have a competitive advantage vs teams with less vaccinated players. Obviously, the human component is far more important than the sporting component. See paragraph one for the human component.

I know it was a gut wretching way to lose, but I feel much more encouraged after this game than I did at halftime. For Buffalo, it’s getting very close to win or go(stay) home time. If we show that playoff mentality from the opening kickoff, we have a chance to salvage this season.

Our star WR has had 2 bad games in a row. He’s had 3 long passes that he couldn’t locate, & he just hasn’t gotten open on big plays. I was hoping we would try Davis on the last couple of 3rd down passes instead of Diggs.

Or any other good RB. If Beane has learned anything this season, I hope he’s learned having a good RB is still important.

Tampa Bay is playing like a very good NFL offense, the O line blocks, the receivers know to shorten routes when the other team blitzes, the RB has vision & breaks tackles. We’re currently not doing any of this.

Thank you for posting that video. For anyone who says it’s only an OL problem, just watch that video again. Any NFL RB with average field vision scores easily on that run. That lack of vision cost us 7 points. We ended up missing the field goal on that drive. Yes Diggs dropped a TD pass, but this was the equivalent to dropping an easy TD pass! The NFL today does favor the passing game, but RBs still matter.

We don’t run outside much because our RBs lack of speed. Ironically, if Moss would’ve just made a simple cut outside to the right, he would’ve had a walk in TD. I like Beane, but he whiffed on both 3rd round RBs & compounded the problem by not addressing those mistakes this past draft/off season.

The announcers didn’t heap much praise on Allen at all. They commented mostly on any missed throws, but didn’t comment a lot on several great plays he made. If our receivers could have caught the passes, Allen had 3 or 4 highlight reel plays.
