Ryan Clark was the best I’ve seen on ESPN in quite a while. Very impressed with both the Bills & the Bengals tonight. Our family turned the sound down & we all prayed for Damar Hamlin. The ONLY good that comes out of times like this is real priorities are easier to see. My prayer is with Damar & his family. May he walk out of that hospital.

So, reading the board, we lost again. 3-11. Sigh.

As objectively as possible: We’re the #1 seed in the AFC, with an 11-3 record against the 3rd toughest schedule in the league (per Sagarin ratings). We have accomplished this despite critical and untimely injuries, like the loss of Morse during last night’s game. Have we played great every game…no. Have we persevered in a talented AFC East Division….yes. Are all of our preseason goals still alive….yes! I’m going to enjoy watching a replay of last night’s comeback victory, it was a classic! -
What was the furthest you traveled to see the Bills play?
Tulsabillsfanz replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tulsa to Buffalo. It was the September 2011 game that we came back from 21 points down to beat Brady & the Patriots! I combined a business trip in central Michigan with an ending weekend in Buffalo. My kids were thrilled to miss school for a week until they realized my wife would work them harder on schoolwork at the hotel than their actual school! At the game, a Patriots fan was sitting behind us, talking how he had an 8 hour drive home to Maine after the game. I told him I had an 18 hour drive home to Oklahoma after the game. We had to have my high school age son home in time to catch a noon travel bus to Oklahoma City for a JV football game. We literally watched Buffalo’s winning field goal, got in our SUV & drove home to Tulsa, arriving at around 9:00 AM central time! -

The pictures make it look like both Klein & (#4) Johnson’s fault. -
Tre White will be make a huge difference this week.

Wilson was getting open on every route vs White. I was glad he didn’t get more targets. I don’t know if White was tentative, rusty or still not 100% physically. Wilson was the 10th pick in the draft & he looks like a good pick. -

Defense is the key to winning big games. As frustrating as our offense was today, our defense really played well, especially when it counted. The d-line wanted to show they’re very good, even without Von Miller. I think they showed they are. -

I think your point is correct. We need at least one other receiver to step up. Davis did last season, hopefully he will again. McKenzie just can’t drop so many passes. I keep hoping Shakir will step up. Almost every time I thought Josh threw a bad pass, the replay would show a good pass that was a drop or the defender outfighting the receiver. Did we make any contested catches today? -

Our offense isn’t built for Buffalo winters. Our QB maybe, but not our offense. We have an average at best running game (especially when a running play is a probable option) & receivers that are not sure handed. I’m happy with the win, but we need to figure out a winter weather game plan. That may include more Shakir & Hines, less passes to McKenzie & maybe even Knox. We really need a stud RB, but that’s a next year option. -
Ravens and Lamar do not reach contract agreement
Tulsabillsfanz replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
I only saw a few of Lamar’s plays today, but one of them was an odd backwards pass as he was being tackled. Baltimore was very lucky that it was only a 10 yard loss & not a turnover. JA would’ve been universally grilled if he made a play that carelessly. -
Allen & the Bills were tired of all the stupid “don’t win the close game stats” & decided to add this one to the close game W column. Of course they will need to stay away from reading this message board for awhile, the fan base can only handle 20+ point easy wins.

JA: Yips, new OC, or poor OL?
Tulsabillsfanz replied to Professor Worthington's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. Did we miss something? Wasn’t that Josh Allen leading us 90 yards down the field for the go ahead TD with 2:40 left. Wasn’t that Josh Allen throwing an incredible 36 yard pass to Diggs to lead us to the game winning FG in less than 20 seconds? Yes, JA has struggled at times, but he’s still a great QB & he had no yips when the game was on the line today. -
2 RZ TD passes for Allen today. He also rushed for another. RZ offense got it done today, & we won the game.

Championship winning QBs usually have to be game managers much more than great play creators. With Allen, he is our biggest great play creator. Even today, on 3rd & 11 he runs. & drags 3 defenders for the first down. He evaded a least 2 probable sacks (for most QBs) & turned them into 20+ yard runs. He evaded the rush & completed 2 big passes on 3rd & 15 in the 4th quarter. But, on that last drive I thought he was trying too hard to carry the team across the finish line by himself. He ran the ball halfway down the field and took good hits on both carries. He actually did hit Knox in the hands with a pass to the end zone. However, his poor game management decision led to the game ending int. I hope coaches focus Josh on game management this week. The (mostly self-imposed) pressure to be the game winning play creator is adversely affecting his performance, in my opinion.

I agree with the idea that they should have run clock , but just like almost every other questionable coaching move, it can be counter with player mistakes. In this case, Diggs dropped a 3rd down pass that would’ve been a huge first down.

Your 1 month old needs to be your priority! If being a Bills fan bothers you, you need to take a break. You can always watch replays of games later, you don’t ever get a replay of being a part of your child growing up.
-
I think your “ultimate underdog” comment is part of Bills culture, like the Cubs and Red Sox. Both of those fan bases were loyal and long suffering. Now we just need to break threw for a championship like they both eventually did!

Any other conclusion than this is on the coaches, is just wrong
Tulsabillsfanz replied to cgg716's topic in The Stadium Wall
Benford played well overall, I like him. But, he did have 2 big mistakes later in the game, whiffing on Dalvin Cook at the line of scrimmage and unnecessarily interfering with Jefferson on a 2nd & 22 pass in OT. I agree the salary cap limits how much high level depth a team can have. We’re playing a lot of inexperienced DBs right now. -

I wonder if the concept was to clear out the field for Allen to run, if possible. That’s been one of our most effective plays…..have Josh avoid the rush and run for a first down. He averaged 14 yards per rush today! -
Hope you’re right! If we somehow win out, I’m confident we will be the #1 seed. In other words, I don’t think the Chiefs will win out.

NFL Week 10 - Vikings at Bills post game thread

Justin Jefferson made incredible plays down the stretch. I’m not sure how many of those would’ve been prevented by Hyde, Poyer, White & Elam. I’d hope enough to get us the W, but I don’t know. -

Seriously, Josh already puts way too much blame on himself after any loss! He needs to get some weight taken off his shoulders, not more weight added to it. -

Tulsabillsfanz replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott needs to work on the mentality of Josh & the entire team. Josh needs to quit trying to take the whole team on his shoulders. He always takes the blame for any loss & passes credit to others on wins. You can do that publicly at press conferences to be a good teammate and leader, but you can’t do that to yourself internally. When you start getting down on yourself it can snowball on you. I agree Dorsey needs to have a calming, encouraging effect on Josh. Objectively, Josh wasn’t the only one to make bad plays. We had 2 key drops late 4th quarter by Diggs & in OT by Knox. Our defense gave up a 27-10 lead. We gave up several key 4th down plays. Winning & losing is a team thing. We need a whole team reset this week. It’s not too late to save the season. -
Among the many players we missed today was Spencer Brown. His RT backup (#77) whiffed on the Jets #47 & cost us a bad hit on Josh’s throwing arm & a 19 yard loss on our final drive. We went from 2nd & 2 with 1:17 left to 3rd & 21 with around :40 left. That play alone may have cost us the game. It was another 4 man rush play that we couldn’t handle.
