  1. We have no idea where Elam was on the Bills board. Kiper had him 41st, but others had a 1st rd grade on Elam. An example of how boards are different, Kiper had Cook at 99th in the Elam draft. The Bills took him at 63. That “reach” worked out pretty well.
  2. @SoonerBillsFan and I agree with you. 1. There is no such thing as a universal BPA. 2. Positional needs are always part of the equation. The Bills aren't drafting a QB or TE at 30. The Palmer signing also reduces the likelihood of drafting a WR early. Where the Bills BPA may come in is where a DL, Edge, CB or S with similar grades are available to the Bills at 30. Who do you take? You need a DT long-term to replace Jones. You need a Edge rusher to replace Bosa in a year. The team currently needs a starter at CB and the team will also needs a Rapp replacement in a year. So where are you investing your 1st rd draft capital? We also all know that McD usually doesn't want rookies starting on his team.
  3. I'm re-thinking how I might approach this draft if I was Beane. I currently already project 48 players for the initial 53 man roster. There are also PS players from last year that could easily make a run for a roster spot like Shavers, Zion Lodge, and OLs Mike Edwards and Richard Gouriage. Beane is almost certainly going to add a veteran CB, S and probably another WR. To all that now add 10 potential draft picks. It seems to me now that it might be better to use picks to move up and shrink the draft class to 7 or 8 players higher "quality players."
  4. My roster projection currently has 48 players. We still need a starting CB, depth (or a starter) at Safety, and a WR. We also have 10 draft picks. It will be interesting how the 53 man roster and PS shake out. There are PS players from last year we know Beane & McD like. Players like Gore, OL Mike Edwards, OG Gouraige, DT Zion Lodge, and WRs Shavers and Virgil. Plus they signed TE Amari Rogers and brought back RB Evans. The battle to make the bottom of this roster is going to be fierce.
  5. I can agree with that. I honestly keep trading down in my mock drafts to recover a 3rd rd pick.
  6. I’m not much of a AJE fan. I’d like to see Beane move on from him.
  7. https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-re-sign-rb-ty-johnson-to-two-year-deal-agree-to-terms-with-fb-reggie-gilliam-on-one-year-deal
  8. I’m going to respectfully disagree. With Hoecht, Bosa, and Palmer, Beane can actually focus on taking the best player available. DT and Edge are deep in this draft and the Bills can afford to wait in the first two rounds and see who comes to them. Don’t forget they have Solomon and Carter who they like as well. CB is the one position they may have to risk moving up as they are limited supply in this draft. I really want Hairston from UK.
  9. Have a Bosa and a Watt ever played on the same NFL team?
  10. The best part about the signing is it gives the Bills an impact DE to compliment Groot without sacrificing our 1st rd pick.
  11. I love the signing. It’s a risk if he doesn’t stay healthy, but on a one year deal it’s not much of a risk. It buys time to develop someone behind him like Solomon or a draft pick. It also gives Beane the freedom to re-sign him if things work out. Now go get a CB.
  12. I want them to pay Benford as well. However, I want Elam gone. He desperately needs to be playing in a different defense.
  13. No Elam or other FA option
  14. Do you really think a rookie CB will be better than what we got from Douglas last year? Remember how Elam worked out? We need to draft a CB early, but we need a vet to carry the load next year while the draftee learns the system and the speed of the NFL. Earlier I suggested Gilmore or Slay for that starter/mentor role.
  15. I'm very happy with the extensions, but without Cook and Benford being re-signed the process remains incomplete. As to the FAs, I like the Palmer signing and am Ok with Hoecht, but we haven't really filled our most critical needs. A starter at CB is a necessity through free agency or trade and we need a Groot level or better pass rusher to play opposite of Groot. While I expect both areas to be addressed in the draft for the future, we lost in the playoffs because of the poor pass rush and mediocre coverage.
  16. Sign Gilmore or Slay and then draft a CB early for the vet to mentor? I would also love for the Bills to sign Ojulari. He's only 24 and has had some injury issues, but with Groot on the other side, Ojulari would finally be on a team where he could reach his potential. Playing for the Giants (or Jets), is like playing for the Sabres. It can suck the life out of you. Get him here on a reasonable 2-3 year deal and watch him put up 10 sacks for a bargain price.
  17. But drafting a RB in a deep class odds increased
  18. Still need a 3rd back. This is a deep RB class with guys that can contribute immediately in the 4-6 rounds. Beane would be wise to grab one, if Ty Johnson leaves.
  19. if we don't re-sign Johnson and/or extend Cook, RB vaults up the draft needs. I also think a blocking TE maybe a need as well with Morris non-tendered. Come to think of it a developmental QB could be in the cards.
