why I am not so worried about LT situation
PJBrown replied to PJBrown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not in denial, I am in TN. I never said that we had pro-bowl caliber LT's on this team. I don't buy into the all the sky is falling bs that permeates this board. My point was that Gailey will play to the strengths and set the O up for success.....hadn't felt like we had that going on for a while....so even if LT is a weakness, and it may or may not be, we have good young guards and hopefully a competent gameplan.... Why worry about something you have no control over? Life's short, think positive thoughts... -
If nothing else the games should be more interesting

Totally agree.....I don't see how we got worse, let alone improved.....9-7 with a shot at a wildcard this year! -

I also am sure they have a back-up plan if they don't pan out..maybe a late TC cut or something. Lets hope we one of them steps up like Peters did (minus the attitude) and allow us to fix other stuff... -
It would be nice to have this position removed from a question mark, but from what I have seen since Gailey has come on board I have to believe that he will not let one position ruin our offense. They have to see potential in Bell and/or Meredith....Bell is raw but has a year under his belt and won't have to jump into a no huddle offense (that should not have happened last year)......and really I believe Gailey will adjust scheme and play calling to set the O up for success, not failure...something we have not had in a while..... Not to mention it will be esier to pass block if the opposition doesn't know what type of play we are running like it seems they have in the past few years

Here's my Training Camp Report from Saturday 8/7/10
PJBrown replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It looks like Spiller averaged about 2 yards a carry...BUST (way just kidding!) Glad to Edwards getting in sync with Lee Evans...this could a big year for both! Thanks for the reports.....living in the South now I save my trips for real games and appreciate being informed! -
CBS Sports: CJ to Score 10 offensive touchdowns

Anyone else the ESPN classic replay of the 2009 ACC Championship game? GT vs. Clemson....Spiller looked like a men among boys.....I am very excited to have him! -
You run out of jokes about this. Why can't this guy stay on the field? When did he miss time for a groin injury? The answer is he didn't. He broke his arm in his rookie year and rebroke it in the same spot because the first injury didn't heal(the rods were short)...hardly injury prone. Lots of guys have off-season things corrected.

my first guess would have been that someone fell off the stool after ingesting one too many garbage plates...

I couldn't agree more. I'm in the backers club in Nashville and we play it after every score. I have been pushing to ban it for a couple of years. It was great in it's time but those times have changed....at least it's better than the "talking proud" song. You other old timers remeber that one?

...used to be Labatts and Molson were fav's but as I got into my 30's and 40's they tear my stomcah up....but they sure were great to "grow up" on!

A draw play for big yardage??!
PJBrown replied to Mark Long Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what's next? Screens? Slants? Mixing up the playcalling? Using our players strengths instead of running a 4 play offense? Blocking???????? It should be a nice change to feel like we can actually score any time we get the ball. -
Ralph is the one that canned the no huddle last year
PJBrown replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read that article as well..it was poorly written and is wrong about a lot.....Turk Shoenert was not brought in to set up the no huddle and the no huddle was not scrapped before the season......it was scrapped once it was clear we didn't have the personel at that time to run it...no idea if it was Ralph's call or DJ's and it doesn't matter...it wasn't going to work with rookies and injuries last year.... -
Gailey is an offensive minded coach with a good history. They are implementing the playbook that will be used on game one. They have a plan and everything I see out of OBD this year leads me to give them the benefit of the doubt that they will execute it. Compared to last year's NO HUDDLE - FIRE THE OC right before game one and promote AVP who may someday be a good OC but was thrown to wolves last year, then yes there will be better coaching and consistency this year....and our young players have a year of experience now..... The entire point I am making is that I do not see how we are WORSE than last year's clusterf**k???????
-
I see ESPN and others saying we suck because our O line was green last year and we didn't address it in the draft....so our "green" line, including 2 very solid starters in Levitre and Wood, got experience last year...including Bell who may turn out pretty decent with a real offensive scheme and coaching, would get less "green" by drafting/reaching for linemen who have never played a down in the NFL?...it's not like there was a FA run on stud linemaen this year either..... I feel we are going to surprise some folks this year...it'll be amazing what some consistancy in the scheme/coaching can do....

There's "beer muscles" so how about "cyber muscles"?

Spiller is a great blocker....in non-contact mini-camp why don't we let them get the pads on before we jump to conclusions on anybody????

I know, I know, but Jason Campbell interest me.
PJBrown replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be ok if we got him for a 3rd or less......open the competition and let the best one win......I'm not ready to give up on Edwards at this point and if some stability and good coaching were to improve his game to the point he wins the job, then we as a team are just the better for it.... -
Levi is from Mt. Juliet TN, outside nashville....it's where I live now! for what it's worth he has a lot of upside and intangibles....he might be worth a shot in the 4th or 5th...the Titans are looking closely at him too...

Was Brandon Being GM Like a Substitute Teacher?
PJBrown replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Russ did a good job considering the circumstances. This is why i love the Nix hire and the other recent moves. A strong football guy on the same page as an admin/money guy can be great....each focused on their roles. Lets hope! -

Levitre, Byrd named to PFW/PFWA all rookie team
PJBrown replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or more likely this was the 1st draft that Buddy Nix was involved in...his track record at SD was pretty sweet as well....oh wait, he's too old. Sorry to interupt the negative whinefest on the board.
