Perhaps Kromer is overrated as an OLine coach?
Eastport bills replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kromer was an abject failure. Does Josh have to end up in the hospital for this guy to get fired. I’m getting tired of the management not holding coaches accountable for statistical failure. Between Frazier, who’s been fired from every NFL job he’s had, to Cromer to the receivers coach, who hopefully gets hired by any team he interviews for. -
Looks like a great pickup, but would Beane/Sean risk a 1st rounder on a TE as opposed to addressing a conventional O- line guard/center need or another safety/corner need. TEs rarely go 1st rd. unless their guaranteed game changers.

Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?
Eastport bills replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way our defense under Sean is constructed, Milano and Edmunds are an absolute necessity. With questions about the quality of the D-line and secondary how do you let a tackling machine with great physical attributes, walk, especially in a 2 LB defense. If those are the numbers, there’s no decision. He’s 25 and improving every year. With a better DC, he’d have 10 sacks. -
I said this Last Year McDermott lacks the killer instinct.
Eastport bills replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Forget the killer instincts, he’s a defensive coach that hasn’t installed a defensive strategy that features physicality, pressure on the QB or game planning against top teams. His decision to play Poyer in the playoffs and not double the receiver that White covered was costly. Poyer was clearly struggling since his injury and didn’t practice for both playoffs. He couldn’t cover or tackle. The short answer is he was better than the alternative, but that’s on the HC. I like Sean, and he brings leadership skills that are important, but with Josh being exposed as our entire offense, an offensive minded HC would suit us better with an aggressive DC improving that side of the ball. -
So you bring in a great coach like Dabol and he gets poached, leaving a good QB coach that has a learning curve calling plays and coaching physicality. Frazier’s defensive strategy doesn’t work here or anywhere he’s been.

Now is the problem the talent evaluation or the position group coaches. I thought Davis and Brown had real potential to take a big step forward, instead they regressed. Davis was great in the Miami game. Dorsey and the receivers coach whiffed on this kid this season. Same with Brown, he’s a good run blocker but a turnstile in protection .If Beane and Sean are going to plug-in bargain basement role players with the cap restrictions, they better have above average coaches. Look at what Cinn. did after Anarumo and the OC came in. Their team is super physical and are balanced on offense. That’s what we need.

I’m not really sure about Mitch. His concussion history is troublesome but he’s a gamer and provides a lot of leadership for the O-line and he’s still a good center. It’s just the cap will not allow us to address everything. Everyone has their own priorities.
-
I love Mitch, but if they think they can move Bates to center, he would free up desperately needed cap space. It wouldn’t make sense if a viable replacement was not on the roster because bringing in a good O-lineman would negate any benefits.
-
How can we move off him if he’s tied to the GM and ownership at the hip. His supporters will say he wins divisions and keeps the fan base engaged. With a new stadium on the horizon and the value of the franchise growing diametrically , do you think the Pegula’s are demanding SBs? I doubt it.
-
The Bills are relevant only because they have a HOF QB and a reasonable surrounding cast of skill players with a HOF receiver. Their coaches have been good motivators but poor at game planning and talent evaluation. They took a step backward this year and spent vital cap resources doing it. Now when changes have to be made we’ll be doing it on the cheap. The GM, coaching staff and core players have to be better and support the newcomers that will probably determine whether we’ll continue to be competitive with the top teams. I don’t have confidence in Frazier in a big spot unless we can rush the passer. Our D-line couldn’t against Cinn and they buried us.
-
It’s hard to disagree with anything you said. Dorsey trained under Dabol and was OK. Josh made him look better than he deserved. His offense lacked creativity and balance, but in fairness the O-line and skill players underperformed. He’s got to get another year but Frazier has been terrible in 2 straight playoffs.
-
That’s the problem with having a great QB. He will make anything work to a certain extent. A balanced offense with good skill players and a reasonably effective O-line is necessary to go deep in the playoffs and where we need to go.
-
Beane is a competent GM. His positives of moving up to draft Josh and trading for Diggs is the reason we are winning division titles. The problem is the roster is not improving year by year . The same can be said for the coaching staff. I still believe he can get it done but now with limited cap space, the pressure is ramped up to improve this team. These GMs can go from geniuses to the hot seat in a hurry.
-
I wanted Fangio and now we have to crap the bed to be rid of Frazier. This is one of my knocks on Sean and Beane. They have a blind spot for coordinators that aren’t getting it done. How many years do we have to watch Frazier be out coached in the playoffs.? How long do we have to endure poor O-line play? The safety coach was fired but why was he hired?
-
The biggest problem the 8 man front had was that after Miller went down they got precious few sacks and QB pressures. The idea is to get a few guys who can rush the passer. Rousseau was invisible in the playoffs. Epenesa and Lawson are not the answer. If these personnel misses continue, the focus will more pronounced on a young unproven secondary. Edmunds and Milano along with Hyde will mask the weaknesses against some teams but Beane and Sean have to be better at plugging in effective players so we can start playing with an edge.

Who are you rooting for next week? Cincy or KC?
Eastport bills replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Same here, KC is despicable and definitely Philly to beat Cinn. -
I shouldn’t say we know who Jones is because as you say Patricia and Judge are most of his problem. Still they need receivers.Brady, who ruined most of my adult life as a fan, had some O-line issues, but his receivers were the same as the SB year and he was just a statue who didn’t want contact. Rogers is not a Jet yet, but if he is , that team with Hall and some good receivers will be good if they get those O-lineman back. They’re solid defensively.
-
Nicely done, the emotional challenges you referenced has to factor into that performance. The other thing that was definitely a factor was that slippery track. The D-line couldn’t get traction in pressure or coverage. This team as constructed is much better on a fast track. Our undersized defense is all about speed. That doesn’t takeaway from the fact we were out coached and need to define an offensive identity that doesn’t depend on Josh being Superman.
-
Brady’s shot, Rodgers is fine but Nathaniel Hackett? We know who Jones is. Give me the Bills all day long.
-
Why is there any doubt about this. I fully expect positive changes to our receiving corp and O -line. Dorsey should be better in his 2nd year and Josh will be less inclined to be the to rush the ball with other options in place. Defense will be have a productive core with Hyde, Rousseau, Oliver, Jones , Von, the LBs, White and Elam. The roster is still better than the other AFC East teams. As for beating the other great teams in the playoffs, we’ll see.
-
You’re letting your assessment of him in his first few years influence your distorted view of his performance this year. The guy was vastly improved and plays every down, every week ,thru injury, calls defensive signals and made many critical plays in both running and passing game. His speed and length make him elite and he’s 24 years old. The idea is to draft and keep top talent. The Bills will keep him one way or the other.
-
We don’t have enough talented and young players on defense to lose Edmunds. If we let him leave without even franchising him, what is our plan., bringing in 2 veterans to convert to 4/3. Doesn’t sound worse it.
-
One bad loss and we have so many holes? The O-line needs a guard/ctr,a depth guard and a depth tackle. A better O-line coach might be more important. The D-line has Miller,Rousseau , Jones and Oliver with Settle and Epenesa for depth. LB will require Edmunds resigning or 1st rd lb because our defense wants to play with 5 db. We need another receiver and rb to replace Motor. We need another Safety to replace Poyer. So we need 6 or 7 players. What team couldn’t use 6 or 7 upgrades. With our core players, a new DC and strategic upgrades we could be better next year.
