  1. Alright, I understand you’re sensitive to the wild knee jerk ideas that are irrational. The reality is that most fans are pretty passionate and objective, but even the over the top crowd deserve a forum to vent frustration. That’s what these boards are about . We’re a community and some residents are given to extreme and immediate fixes. It will all be forgotten when we win it all.
  2. Your problem is that you are perfectly fine with the level that the team has reached and it is beyond your capacity to understand the perspective of devoted, long suffering fans who understand the urgency in winning a championship while our franchise QB is under our control. The complaint that most objective observers have is that progress stopped after Dabol left. Our offense has become Joshcentric and predictable. Our defense was formidable when Von and the threat of his pressure made everyone better. When he went down, we couldn’t pressure and our young injury riddled secondary was exposed. Coaching and personnel couldn’t make things better. Now things are not great because other teams are getting better and we are fully dependent on Beane improving the roster with cap restrictions. So between questions about our coaching and making the roster better, they’re things to be concerned about. When you’ve experienced decades of lean times you realize how short lived this huge opportunity with Josh can be. Don’t be misled with playoff berths and early rd wins. We’re not there yet.
  3. The idea of KC in the SB infuriates me. Sean and his staff were not prepared for Cinn. and crushed our fan base for the 2nd straight year. We were primed for the SB this year and played worse as the season went on culminating in the embarrassment vs Miami and Cinn. This is an indictment of mangmt for not assembling the roster or game planning to allow us to finish strong. I don’t doubt the injuries and the emotional experience they faced with Hamlin was part of the equation, but as fans we expect our coaches and team leaders to lead us though these challenges. I don’t care about cap restrictions, Beane has to find a way with creativity and resourcefulness to bring in weapons and productive role players. In addition, these coordinators have to show improvement because they both underachieved last year. If these things don’t happen, changes must be made. Beane especially can’t live on drafting Josh and trading for Diggs in year 6, and please stop with the Carolina connection, it’s done nothing for us.
  4. That’s my point. Against the two teams in the SB, both having great O-lines with great receivers and fine QBs, where would our rush 4 scheme get us?
  5. Your point about Miller making everyone better is well taken. We could use another solid edge for our rotation.
  6. The point I’m making is there are no homegrown players that are thriving in our offense. Motor has regressed and will be gone. Knox caught some red zone passes but he is underused in our offense. It’s got to change for us to get over the hump.
  7. Fair point, but let’s face facts. Can you think of any draft choices that have flourished under Dorsey? Cook took half the season to contribute but only after Moss was misused and dumped. Davis regressed, Shakir hardly played, Sweeney hardly played, Brown played but was poor in protection, Morris was used sparingly. I’d like to spend draft capital on offensive weapons but this OC has to integrate them into a balanced, dynamic offense. So far I’m skeptical.
  8. So where are the guys we brought in, from other teams practice squad that have made a difference. I can’t think of any. Dorsey never brought Hodgins into the offense, similar to Hines, Shakir and even the backs. How many receptions did Motor/Cook have other than check downs. Our offense was predicated on Josh making great plays and Diggs playing lights out.
  9. He’s fine and keeping him another year is not terrible. The key is keeping Miller healthy and bringing in a productive edge rusher who can actually pressure the QB, unlike Epenesa or Lawson. Frazier and Sean insist upon rushing four which is great for protecting our young secondary but great QBs feast on 4 man rush teams.
  10. Dabol was gone as soon as Josh became a star. He’s obviously a QB whisperer. Who knew he was a better HC than Sean. Oh well. Hodgins is just an indictment of Beane,Dorsey and Hall for poor personnel evaluation. This guy languished on the practice squad for 2 years and actually looked good during the exhibition season. They love the guy from the Packers who can’t get on the field and has been useless.
  11. An undersized tackle that doesn’t get sacks or tackles. Let’s start fresh with a bigger, nastier, potentially more impactful guy out of the draft on a rookie contract. Let Jones, Settle and some cheap FA hold downs the fort.
  12. Honest assessment, I’m with you on everything. I would hold my nose and let Oliver go. He doesn’t impact the the game enough to warrant 10 minimum.
  13. We can argue about a contract another time but did you not see a measurable improvement in his instinctual play this season? The question is if a coaching strategy is rush 4, then why work with him to improve pressure skills. This guy runs down backs and underneath receivers with physicality and can influence the passing game with a freakish wingspan. Our DC sucks and will be gone soon. Edmunds value will be shown with the next regime. Finally, with this defense, playing 2LBs, and an average secondary in the nickel every down, how can we afford to lose him?
  14. All these teams are beefing up coaching staffs. Poaching guys from us, other teams and Beane and Sean are standing pat and dumpster diving for replacements. This Is my biggest beef with Beane. After the colossal choke job of “13” seconds and letting the Bengals walk into our building and take our lunch money, he’s running it back with Frazier, who’s been a bust his whole career as a HC and a coordinator. Our OC showed poorly as a rookie and almost got Josh killed. Our offense was predictable and one dimensional with Josh throwing bombs to receivers who other than Diggs, couldn’t get separation or dropped throws.Minimal running attack other than Josh running when flushed. An O-line coach who should be ashamed of his line’s performance and a QB coach who enabled Josh to regress with respect to turnovers. One more year of underachieving and we will officially be wasting our HOF QB.
  15. That’s the question that most fans struggle with. Is this McDermotte/Frazier defensive strategy taking advantage of the individual skills on our roster? They rarely rush more than D-line and play nickel every down. Especially after Von went down, we never consistently pressured the QB. Against most teams it was fine, but giving Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert, even Tua time to go thru progressions, they will carve our young secondary up. It seems with Edmunds speed and length coupled with Milano’s ability, our LBs should have 12 sacks between them. These plays are game changers.
  16. First, much respect for Irvin’s playing career but how can a network that represents the NFL, have a guy that can’t communicate in a way that inspires fringe NFL fans to love the show or the games. He sounds like a guy who goes on these unintelligible, grammatically flawed rants to sound like a super plugged in analyst. Forget it when he’s commenting on Dallas. This is just me, but when the networks rush to bring in an exballplayer, shouldn’t they prioritize experience in communicating as a way of setting an example for the young fans who love football. The same standards that apply to newscasters and variety show hosts should apply to NFL studio personalities.
  17. If this is true, it’s great news. Edmunds is a must as a core player in this defense. Eventually, when Frazier is gone, and we go to a 3/4 or 4/3, his skills will transition to an outside LB who is in on pressure packages. My prediction is he improves every year and is destined to be an all-pro starting next year.
  18. Shakir looked very promising and improved as he got targeted more. He gets separation and other than the long pass dropped against Miami, he showed good hands. I love Beasley so if we can give him a 1 year reasonable deal, he could help the young guys.
  19. Rousseau showed some real talent this season. His performance was much better when Miller lined up opposite him. I think he will be a real force next season. He was limited by a slippery track against the Bengals. I think he could benefit by getting bigger and stronger. He should work on that in the off-season.
  20. With Cook,Hines and a veteran in FA, I think we could spend a 4th rd. pick on a RB. Our needs are O-line, receiver and safety in that order.
  21. What possible value is consensus of your knee jerk opinion and the partisan fans of other teams, about our HOF QB, who has played through a serious elbow injury and came up short when the rest of the team stunk up the field in a snowstorm. Did you consider that Josh is 26 and has been in the playoffs 4 out of 5 years, winning 5 playoff games. What was Rivers and Newton’s records through 5 years? Josh set records for TDs passing and running combined this year with an injury that most QBs would have sat out the rest of the season. Your post is silly and you embarrass yourself with it as a fan of this team. Josh puts this mediocre roster on his back and wins 14 games. Tell the numerous, clueless fans you speak with, those comparisons are insulting to you as a Bills fan , if you really are one.
  22. If golfing had any harmful affects on his elbow issues and Sean/Beane allowed it, that would be a fireable offense. They had to know about it for weeks. The guy’s making 40 million a year, you’d think he has an obligation to the medical staff to do what they suggest.
  23. I want to see one year this defense is dominant passing the “eye test” , not statistically. What that means is we generate consistent pressure on QBs and stay fundamentally sound with tackling and coverage with our secondary. I don’t want to hear about not getting personnel because of cap restrictions. Sean has underperformed when it counted in the postseason. It’s time to put up or get replaced, and take Leslie with you.
  24. This team is close. As close as that team that lost the Bengals in 89. We desperately need to put Josh in a better position to win. Play calling with balance and better protection is vital. If this coaching staff can’t provide this we’re wasting the best opportunity we’ll ever have.
