  1. Beane needs his best offseason to keep us in the conversation for SB contender. I don’t know about you, but his FA misses and pedestrian drafts doesn’t give me much confidence. The guy has to bring in some difference makers on both sides of the ball. He passed on Edmunds and he was our best defender. He can get two good players for Edmunds tag money. Let’s see how aggressive he is.
  2. The question is how good will Edmunds be when he reaches his prime. His development is on such an upward trajectory there is no telling how good he can be. The guy was 24 when he finished his time with us. Obviously we could not afford what he will get, but hopefully he stays out of the AFCE.
  3. Can Beane get a nobrainer FA to excite our incredible fan base? Don’t tag Edmunds, don’t sign a veteran tackle last offseason to protect Josh and don’t sign a #2 receiver to maximize Josh and be way over the cap. Is it me or is this guy a season away from going away? Brandon, no excuses, get going.
  4. I respect your position because the guy is a great leader and has established a winning culture. The fact that we want to see him improve game day decisions and performance in big games is necessary to being the long term answer. We can argue the merits of the Rams strategy some other time but all the coaching staff deficiencies are on the HC. It troubles me to hear him say, after Frazier steps away, he’d like to see his defense be more punishing. You can’t assemble a defense focused on speed and then lament they’re not physical enough. Same thing with Dorsey’s play calling, he loved the short passing success in the early games and then got criticized for an offense focused on splash plays. It’s his responsibility to tell Dorsey (a first time OC) how he wants plays called. We have a disadvantage with a defensive minded coach influencing our offensive creativity. We can win championships with this guy but his command of this team’s performance has to improve. If not, winning divisions aren’t enough.
  5. Please stop with this delusional mentality about what success looks like. Winning the AFCE against the hapless Jets, Bellicek’s Pats without Brady(dumpster fire) or the Tua led Dolphins means very little. You’re oblivious to the fact that Josh provides the best chance the Bills have had to win a championship in the history of our team. To rational observers we took a step backwards last season and now face an improved division without 2 of our best defenders(Poyer, Edmunds). I enjoy the regular season wins as well as the next guy, but I keep looking for Sean to define his career with that culture changing win in the playoffs, not the soul crushing losses we endured the last 3 seasons.
  6. It seems you have prepared a comprehensive argument for supporting Sean. The only problem is that all of those statistics mean nothing if he doesn’t beat KC or Cinn in games that get our team to a SB. He has engineered one of the colossal choke jobs in the “13 seconds “ game and been out coached the other 2 seasons Josh and Diggs have been together. He’s a defensive minded coach whose defense has been lacking in the biggest games the last 3 seasons. His O-lines have been pedestrian since he’s been here and his best runner is our franchise QB. You want to celebrate mediocrity don’t ask 40 year fans who have bled internally with this team,to be satisfied with regular season records and early round playoff success. We have arguably one of the top 2 QBs in football, we can’t waste his prime.
  7. Didn’t see that. Thanks
  8. I think Brian Flores would be a good DC. Whether the Bills core defensive players would agree is unknown. He’s got a rep as an old school, military disciplinarian. That’s polar opposite from Frazier. I’m anxious to see Sean’s selection.
  9. Now we’ll see if Beane can make a move to improve our defense. “Bend don’t break “ has been the mantra in the Frazier era. Now with the potential loss of two productive starters, Poyer and Edmunds, we are in danger of taking a step back unless personnel moves and a new coaching philosophy are meaningful. Please no more Carolina retreads.
  10. Unfortunately the perfect storm of the NFL being a QB driven league and the scarcity of high quality,SB capable QBs makes the pressure on ownership to overvalue marginal talent extremely high. That’s why agents know the Daniel Jones’s and Lamar Jackson’s of the world will be get Mahomes money by a desperate franchise one way or the other. With the protection of the hard cap, the only people that will suffer are the devoted fans who will be in purgatory for long periods of time.ie(Az, Cleveland, Dallas)
  11. The problem is the skills required to extricate a team from a really bad QB contract(DeSean Jackson, Murray, Wilson) are not in the DNA of most GMs. How many GMs are ready to give up the draft capital to surround a Stafford with the personnel to get a SB and be bad for years to come? I think the idea of putting a team in purgatory because they make a decision out of desperation and destroy loyal fan bases who live and die with their fortunes is bad for the NFL. If QB contracts are partially separated from the cap it gives teams wiggle room and the owners can afford the extra overhead.
  12. Why do you keep going back to the Jones comparison? I explained that mentioning them together was to say they both don’t warrant monster contracts. The Huntley reference was just to annoy you and it worked fine genius. Who cares how many TDs Lamar threw for. He’s hurt all the time and didn’t want to be on the field when it counted. Stop making arguments for him when his own team clearly knows his value.
  13. Jackson has much more talent but for a different reason he’s not eligible for Allen, Mahomes or Jackson’s (undeserved) contract. AVAILABILITY is the most important attribute of a franchise QB. 2 straight seasons, last 5 regular season games and postseason missed. 3 seasons ago, throws a terrible pick in the red zone and Taron Johnson takes to the house. Game over. Can you tell me what he’s done, other than win some early regular season games, that Huntley could have probably won with their defense. There was no comparison to Jones other than that they both need to prove more.
  14. This is indicative of how distorted the QB market has become. When Daniel Jones and Jackson feel they’re entitled to Mahomes and Allen money and ownership is willing to pay them, it proves there should be a separate cap for QBs. The cap restricts teams to fill rosters and stay competitive. With new contracts dictating the market, QBs with one solid season after a whole rookie contract of mediocrity , puts teams in cap jail if they invest in a questionable talent. For the best interests of competitive balance going forward, these monster contracts should be separated in some manner from the rest of the cap.
  15. Diggs is the kind of veteran presence that we need desperately to get us over the top. The fact is Dorsey failed at maximizing our skill players in the second half of the season. Diggs was used as a decoy instead of the great weapon he is. Why wasn’t Diggs targeted more? The offense was one dimensional and predictable. Between exposing Josh as our primary runner and not involving Shakir or Knox enough, Digg’s frustration at not being the focal point of our attack, was understandable. My fear is that Dorsey can drive a wedge in the most important relationship on the Bills if he can’t evolve as as an OC this year we’re finished.
  16. If he refuses the Bills offer, he’s gone. The Bills won’t get into a bidding war with all their needs. The tag is only a positive when you can retain a player that you view as at the top of his position and would be difficult to replace adequately. Remember, the Bills are paying 3 players(JA, Diggs and Miller) upwards of 90 million. If Beane is as good as the guy in KC(Beech)he restructures Josh,Diggs and Miller to free up enough cap space to retain Edmunds and add some good O-line.
  17. I understand your trepidation but he wants to hit FA and the Bills must franchise him or see him leave and the decision has to be made now. After he gets franchised you open a window to negotiate a longer deal. He represents arguably our best player on defense, and is a perfect compliment to Milano in a 2LB defense. I think Edmunds plays even better next season.
  18. It gives them the best LB for the system Frazier runs. Name a replacement that can impact the run and pass defense like Edmunds. The defense was pretty formidable with Edmunds. The key is restructuring contracts that can give cap flexibility. Edmunds will command the highest yearly pay for an OLB when he hits FA because of his age. Franchising him actually gets him for a discount. With questions about adding quality O-line and weapons with our cap restraints, we better be able to stop some people. Edmunds had a great year even though some fans are still judging him on his early years.
  19. If we slap the franchise tag on Edmunds he’ll explore FA in his dreams. Let’s try it on for size.
  20. Beane has been underwhelming in drafting and personnel in general. Having said that, it’s hard to criticize him with what the team has accomplished over his tenure. Now however, we are in danger of not taking the steps necessary to maximize our ultra talented, generational QB and get to the SB. Also, with the rest of AFCE. getting better, we could be moving backward if he can’t overcome the misused cap space that would restrict acquiring pieces. The great young GM now faces the pressure of taking this team to the next level or being responsible for slipping back into mediocrity. If there is slippage, the fan base should not be forgiving and preach patience. We are on the clock with Josh’s prime.
  21. Call me when Hodgins has a 200 yd game with 4 TDs in a playoff game. Gabe has been great in the playoffs when the lights shine the brightest. Hodgins had a few good games against bottom feeders.
  22. Having imaginative offensive play calling is a tremendous advantage in the NFL today. The HC having a real connection to that side of the ball is preferable but not an absolute must. The key is, when evaluating the HCs overall influence on the team, if he’s not an offensive guru does he have a real positive defensive influence on the team. With us, the coach has not put his mark on the way our seasons end in a positive way. He’s been out coached by Reid and Taylor the last 3 seasons and “13 seconds “ was a historic choke job. The players respect and play hard for Sean but to get a championship, it’s not enough.
  23. Did you read the rest of the post young fella. It’s not rocket science.
  24. Mahomes makes me sick. He’s great, with a certain magical talent and seems like a great kid. The problem is we should be there with our guy, who’s just as special but in a more athletic and powerful, explosive way. I’m rooting hard for Philly and if my prayers are answered, they don’t get 2 titles before we get 1with Josh.
  25. If anyone needs more evidence than what you’ve referenced, they’re just sanctioning failure, like Sean/Beane. Beane is still ownership’s guy because they’re winning divisions, so his pursuit of a championship is more long term. By keeping Frazier, urgency is not a priority. From ownership’s standpoint, the fanbase is enthusiastic because our HOF QB finds a way regular season and we have a punchers chance in the playoffs. Having said that, we can still win it all but the offense has to do the heavy lifting. Dorsey has to show some real balance with improved play calling. We could use a number 2 receiver and some better O-line play.
