  1. Jets DL can dominate and Josh makes plays off schedule, we can still win. If Dorsey just lets Josh take what the defense gives him and establishes the run somewhat, I believe our TE/Receivers will dominate. Remember, their front 7 has to protect against the QB run threat and that will give single coverage to an explosive receiving corp.
  2. I see a low 20s game that will come down to sustaining drives in the last quarter and a half and avoiding a damaging turnover. If it’s close and Josh has the ball last, we win.
  3. Miami vs Chargers, Cinci vs Cleveland, Pitt vs SF, These are games that will impact us either because we play the teams or because they reflect who represents the hierarchy in the AFC besides KC.
  4. Every team whiffs a lot more than they hit. The sad reality is that sometimes it takes a few years to become good (Teiier, Hodgins Edmunds) and in the interim decisions must be made about who’s the best 53 and FAs are in the equation. It’s easy to criticize but it’s a team game and Josh and Diggs won’t get 3 divisions and playoff wins.
  5. Unlike the 500 yds, 6 TDs and 22 receptions in 7 playoff games he dominated in. Any other receivers do that in the NFL?
  6. I don’t have a good read on the 1st game for betting purposes but how can anyone have doubts about this Bills team being better than last year’s version. Our guards are better, RBs are better and TEs/Receivers are better. D/line is better with Floyd/Miller and the secondary is better with Hyde, Poyer,Rapp and a healthy White and corners in their 2nd year. Don’t be misled by NFL talk show hosts that are believers in the Jets, Miami and others that have proved zero and are in new offenses and have real O -line issues. Either you believe in our team or you don’t.
  7. Great signing. This guy is a cap casualty and had #s like Edmunds for tackles plus our safeties have experience with him.
  8. Every season we’re looking for this guy to be impactful. Sadly he can’t get consistent pressure rushing the QB and his tackles are also lacking in the run game. He’s got speed and has been injury free. If he doesn’t emerge this year he’s got to go.
  9. Seems like a better option for the offense we run than Quess or Boettiger. Now bring in another MLB and the QB Dallas cut (Greer)and put Allen on the practice squad or trade him for a 6th or 7th rounder.
  10. I’m sure Beane will be adding to the depth on the O-line because they discarded every tackle other than a swing tackle/guard in Andersen and VanDemark who was just brought in. Every O-line depth player from last season is gone. If we can’t add on, Beane should be skewered because Brown has chronic back issues and Dawkins should be shuttled in and out, because his conditioning and performance is troubling. Also, the MLB position is the weakness on this roster. How about bringing in a highly regarded cut down casualty like the guy from Houston?
  11. Gabe is in a contract year and looks healthy. He’s been very productive in three postseasons. Some people would take his performance as a good #2. I think it’s not a concern on this team.
  12. The preseason means nothing and you’re reading repercussions into a drop by a player that produces on the biggest stage. Pressure on Harty, Knox, Sherfield and Kincaid is a great problem to have. These guys are going to make our season and give Diggs and Davis better matchups. It’s similar to the doomsday reaction to the O-line being disengaged against Pitt. Watch a regular season game and get back to me.
  13. He became too expensive to keep, but are you comfortable with what we’re trotting out at MLB? Dodson ? Klein? When we get victimized by missed tackles or blown assignments you should direct complaints to Beane for not bringing in an adequate replacement at a position that calls signals for the defense and has registered more than 100 tackles average.
  14. This is a characteristic of this message board that is contradictory to the incredibly loyal fan base we have. There is a smoldering undercurrent of negativity waiting to swoop down on the smallest crack in what has been a great run albeit lacking a ring. I noticed a disorganized and undisciplined performance by our O -line and missed tackles by our defense, but isn’t that to be expected early in the preseason? I don’t believe there’s a carryover from the Bengals game. It’s a new season. You have to believe these coaches will get these guys ready for the Jets. They’ve been money in the regular season for the last several years.
  15. Your next post should propose some alternative rooting interests since the prospect of the implosion will cause profound depression and anger. After all why shouldn’t we prepare to blame the coaches, GM and ownership for abject failure after the 1st half of the 1st preseason game the starters played in. Player “quitting on coaches “, “a lost season “. Thank you Filthy Beast for bringing clarity to the impending doom for our beloved team. If I didn’t know better I would have thought you weren’t a Bills fan at all.
  16. This game is impossible to predict with any degree of confidence. We know the Bills have the better roster, but the home field combined with heightened adrenaline an opening game brings, could even the playing field. I think the game is a classic pickem scenario. I don’t think the Bills will be able to run the ball against the Jets front seven, especially this early, so Josh will have to pick them apart with quick release passing and timely QB runs. My question is how will the defense stack up against Rogers, Cook. and a few quality receivers. If we can dominate their O-line and get pressure on Rodgers, that could be the difference.
  17. Ken Dorsey is the biggest question mark for the Bills. He inherited a great offense that Dabol constructed and managed to make it predictable and one dimensional. He has to come out of the gate with creativity and be mindful that running the ball will make Josh’s life easier. He also has to work in concert with our O-line coach to make sure Josh is protected at all costs. If an adequate RT is not on the team, impose your will on Beane to bring in a better option, I don’t want to see an overwhelmed young OC throwing tables around if the offense is sputtering like last year in Miami. This year he must be the cool hand in the middle of the madness.
  18. Are you a Dodger fan? If so look at how they turned low expectations to overachievement. That’s the hope with the us.
  19. You’re being the petulant child that has made looking good in the preseason when no one even game plans or uses blitz packages, the defining factor in your own self worth. Root for the Bengals if you need to. If the Bills are bad this season and Sean doesn’t win playoff games and at least gets to the conference title game, I’ll be right there calling for his ouster. This is just entertainment not life or death.
  20. I’ll remind you of that statement after the game. Other teams fans would kill a relative for our record the last 3 seasons since Josh got good. Be optimistic instead whining after a preseason game.
  21. You’re basing this on one half of a preseason game. OK. The Cinn. game is last year and we didn’t show up for whatever reason. Give it a chance before making blanket assessments. We will see if the HC can bring the level of play up to what we need. Sometimes you need to get punched in the mouth. Was 13and3 an illusion? These same players beat KC and have won their division 3 years in a row. You haven’t seen Knox or Miller yet and you want to get rid of Tre While just as he’s getting healthy. Can we see these guys in a regular season game please.
  22. You’re reading too much into a half of a preseason game. Give the GM and HC a chance to earn their money and reputations. The penalties are on the HC. We knew that there was a big hole in the middle. Beane thought we could get away with what’s on the roster. Look for heads to roll this week and new personnel to be brought in. Even if it takes cap manipulation, a swing tackle and an experienced LB is a must for depth and improvement. You can panic after the Jets game, not now.
  23. The knee jerk reaction to what was a god awful performance by the O-line and the front seven should be expected. This is actually a positive. If the front office and the HC/DC are competent , they see the deficiencies against real game action. My expectation is for Dawkins and Brown to be put on full alert that their starting positions are in jeopardy. These guys have to be put through 3 weeks of intense preparation and conditioning by an overrated O-line coach or replacements acquired. Our franchise QBs health is in jeopardy. The MLB position is less of an impending disaster. I see Dorian and Milano on the field in 2LB sets with Taron in the nickel similar to last year with Edmunds. Josh will find a way and the backs and TE will help with the rush until the O-line starts playing better. It’s the 1st time the starters played. Plenty of time before panic is called for.
  24. I love Beane’s off season makeover but I’m little concerned about the depth and quality of RT and MLB. I know it’s hard to address every position group with the limitations of the cap but our season could be undermined if Brown is lacking or gets injured. Dodson is a backup and the guy’s behind him on the depth chart will disappoint if they see meaningful playing time. Beane needs to bring in another experienced swing tackle and do it soon. Either a trade or cut down victim.
  25. Probably the best all around explanation for getting the starters real game work in. Also, that will be the last time the starters in the skill positions see the field before they play the Jets. Maybe if they look pedestrian they’ll get a series.
