Schefter: Von to resume practicing this week
Eastport bills replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let’s see what our defense looks like tomorrow and against the Jags. We have to keep winning because I think the division and home field will require minimum 13 if not 14. How many of the road games vs KC, Philly, Miami, Cinn do you think we win? If your answer is split ‘em, we can’t lose more than 1 other game. If you feel we can go to the SB as a wild card, that’s another conversation. -
Schefter: Von to resume practicing this week
Eastport bills replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bring him back week 6 on a pitch count and let him acclimate for 2 or 3 games. By week 8 he’ll be ready to wreck games. -
I like your optimism. I’m not saying he’s terrible. I want to see Kincaid brought into the offense. He’s the best TE in the draft. I want to see more wide open crossers other than Diggs. I want to see more Sherfield. It took 3 games to get him his first receptions and they were dump offs when Josh got flushed. He was very productive for Miami last year. How about Hardy in the vertical scenario, which he was brought in for. How about a screen to somebody. I’m seeing too many draws with Josh sprinting laterally to Cook going over the left side. Jet sweeps are getting stuffed. So in closing, we beat 2 pedestrian offenses. I’m not complaining about wins, but we have better receivers and backs this year. I want to see an offense where Josh doesn’t have to be fitting throws in tight windows to hit Diggs or Davis. When you watch these other great offenses they have plays that are wide open. We should have some. Miami confuses with motion, SF uses Sweeney and McCaffrey on screens and short crossers. What’s our identity? To me, after the Jets, Dorsey’s offense was stay away from turnovers and Josh will find a way. Hopefully this will get us a win on Sunday.

Sadly, we’re all waiting for Dorsey to show his play calling improvement after an underwhelming rookie season. He has been an impediment with Josh having to be improvisational to be successful. Not getting Kincaid, Sherfield, Harty or Shakir involved in the offense is again making us predictable and easier to defend. This QB running laterally on draws to Cook to me looks easy to shut down. We’re putting too much pressure on Josh to be super efficient and be exposed to unnecessary contact. I wanted to believe Dorsey would be more innovative but so far he looks the same.

First, winning sanitizes a lot of weaknesses in the system. Also the Andy Reid’s, Mike McDaniels and Kyle Shanahans are few and far between in the NFL. Face it, this guy is playing checkers and the coaching hierarchy plays chess. It doesn’t mean our personnel can’t overcome predictability. Our defense will have a lot to say about results and Sean seems to be getting more out of that unit than in previous seasons.

The 12P formation is actually being more productive in the run game. Why can’t Dorsey find a way to get Kincaid the ball? The problem is he’s not very innovative. Josh is still able to pull rabbits out of his rear end on these off schedule plays but like last year, we can’t present an offense that incorporates receptions by multiple receivers or little screens that are open. This offense is going to be dependent on execution by our O-line in the run game and getting Kincaid, Sherfield or Hardy(Shakir) involved. After 3 games, why has Kincaid not been targeted in the red zone? Why does Sherfield get his 2 receptions in the 3rd game? Hardy was brought in as a vertical threat, how many downfield targets has he gotten? If this season starts looking like the predictable Diggscentric pass offense, like last season, eventually teams will take him away. I’ll give Dorsey the benefit of adjusting to new personnel as an excuse for not being very innovative like Miami or KC. This would be a good time to start being unpredictable.

Joe Cool is playing with no confidence in his calf. That is a tough injury to play through. He’s a gamer but the Bengals need him to play the Joe Cool preinjury. -
DaQuan Jones is a big part of our defensive success

Jones has been very good, but what I like about Eddie is the fire and urgency he’s playing with. It’s infectious and the defense is playing downhill. -
Joe Namath wants Jets to clean house & start over
Eastport bills replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Joe’s doing the Jets a huge favor. He’s got the cred to infuriate the fan base that will allow the GM to ultimately pull the plug on the Wilson experiment. Wilson screwed the timeline up by winning against the Bills. That gave him a few more weeks to show his ineptitude. Now the question is, will they wait for Saleh to lose the locker room when a great defensive performance gets waisted by Wilson. To me, the Jets must bring in a veteran the week after the KC debacle Sunday night. Who knows, maybe a Cousins or a Wentz could get them some wins. -
McD much better D coordinator than Frazier
Eastport bills replied to TwistofFate's topic in The Stadium Wall
He may have had only a few blitzes, although one led to a sack when he sent 6, but he caused the Washington O-line problems with simulated blitzes that enabled the Bills front four to come away with 8 sacks. It’s being aggressive and innovative that makes him better than Frazier. You can already see a better version of Oliver, Rousseau, and even AJ. -
Serious topic: it’s time to trade for DJ Moore
Eastport bills replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Davis is good enough with a fast developing Kincaid, Sherfield (who will be great in the slot) and Hardy in the McKenzie role(jet sweeps and gadget guy). I think Shakir is unfortunately too far down the depth chart to really generate the trust to get touches, but in the event one of our receivers is not available, he gets open and can produce. We don’t need a guy who the Bears overpaid for and must get a lot for to look competent for their fan base. -
Over-reaction Three Weeks In.... Offense seems disjointed
Eastport bills replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
The offense is transitioning into more of a ball control mentality in an effort to stay away from costly turnovers. Josh will still take vertical shots when he sees opportunities, like the Davis TD, but it’s more possession type throws in the 10 to 15 yd variety. They kicked FGs too often yesterday but the defense controlled the young QB, who they confused with coverages. They are starting to develop a run game with the three complimentary RBs and Josh brought back the QB runs that teams will have to defend going forward. I think the Bill are developing an identity that features a smothering defense and multidimensional offense that wants to outscore the opponent and win the turnover battle. Let’s see what it looks like against Miami, KC, Philly. -
Many of us thought Moss would be a good contributor in the run game. Unfortunately he couldn’t displace Motor as the featured back. Now, with Taylor being out of the picture, look at Zack produce.

How prepared and timid was our defense against Miami and Cinn last postseason? Deserved, I think so . -

I loved Hughes but when Von comes back , look out. We will be a load. -
Week 4, Bills favored by 3 over Dolphins

I think this game is all about Sean, and his ability to devise a defensive game plan to limit this Miami offense. It’s gonna be a shootout but hopefully we can win in our building. -

You make a good case for why they kept him, but he got dumped by 4 separate teams where the defense ( his strength supposedly)didn’t distinguish themselves as being quality. We actually made him look better than he deserved with talented personnel. I’m glad we put him in the rear view. Great point, but you didn’t expect Sean to expose Frazier to the criticism he deserved. -

Watching this game, you wonder why Sean allowed Frazier to run the defense for so long. He was so timid and passive. Sean brings pressure, is aggressive and has the personnel using their athleticism. The thought of Miller, Floyd and Rousseau pinning their ears back with the ferocious play of Oliver and the other tackles in the middle gives fans confidence that unless you’re coming with elite O-lines, we’re going to dominate like the last 2 weeks. Next week, against Miami, will be a good barometer of how good we are. -
If this is any indication of how Bernard will play MLB, our defense will be scary good. His speed, ball hawking and ability to pressure the QB is better than anyone expected. Let’s hope he stays healthy because he’s kind of slight.

Ken Dorsey "posterized" again for his coaches box reaction
Eastport bills replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ken, just keep calling plays that focus on what the defense is giving us, with the emphasis on quick release passing and running to be multidimensional. If you do that, we’ll have success consistently.
