  1. Sam Martin’s last punt was one of the most important plays of the game. The Bills were pushed back inside their 20 and his punt went out inside KCs 30. Now he’s been mediocre in other games but our coverage group have been inconsistent also. Hopefully we get games that we punt 2times or less.

I don’t disagree with any of that, but it’s important to look at things realistically too. Diggs has been a top WR in this league. Top 5. Top 8. However you want to slice it. I lived the trade for him at the time and love it still.

But he’s 30 now and he’s more of a top 16 WR now. (I like to use 4/8/16/32 due to there being 32 teams.) I’m still very happy to have him on the Bills.

Looking forward, the big fall off for WRs tends to be around age 31. I expect Diggs to have another good, top 16-ish WR season next year and I think he’ll stay a Bill through that season.

But you have got to look at the money going to him too. His AAV is still top 5 among WRs. While the cap and contracts continue to increase, it doesn’t take a math major to see that Diggs will soon be very overpaid for his contributions.

One last point: people have mentioned that he doesn’t rely on stellar physical tools to win as a WR. That’s true. That may extend his career as a productive role player, but not as a top flight WR. He likely will have the role of savvy vet on a SB contending team. But he won’t be paid anything like the Bills are scheduled to pay him. There will likely be a transitional period where he gets released by the Bills and overpaid elsewhere so I don’t expect him to stay here with a pay cut. After that he will have the option to chase a ring again if he doesn’t already have one.

Your point about his value vs cap hit going forward is valid if you see his production decline. Right now, I don’t mind his 3 or 4 game slump while we transition to Brady’s offense. Finally, we’re running the ball and using 12man personnel improving protection and getting the TEs more involved. Do you notice Cook is getting open down the field in the last two games. Shakir and Harty have made important receptions in these games. I also see a critical need for a #2 receiver. Face it , we’re in trouble with the cap next year with Josh’s money exploding. This is where Beane has to be creative because our whole secondary is old and expensive.

I agree, it is a good thing but both are developing players. Doesn’t matter if he’s smothered or not. He’s of the excellence where that shouldn’t be a problem game in, game out. Did it matter week 1 against Sauce or Miami’s decent secondary? I’m not denying he is a beast just that from observational he’s struggled in big games where the competition is tough which means we are seeing something surface which is a cause for concern going forward given the personnel and carry over into next year.

I understand your frustration, but would you have preferred the offense under Dorsey force feeding Diggs targets against double teaming and not expanding our offense with Cook, who’s becoming a matchup nightmare , Kincaid and Shakir. Don’t minimize Harty’s 30 yd reception on the the game winning FG drive. We know who Diggs is but we’re finding out about other options. I think it’s positive for our offense going forward. Cudos to Brady. Do you care how we get to 30?

The only reason it comes into question is a result of the talent behind him for Josh. Huge drop off.

We still averaged 29 since Dorsey’s dismissal. If not using Diggs helped us run more, use Cook in the passing game and get Kincaid and Shakir more involved, it’s a good thing. That gives teams more to defend and should open up Diggs targets. If you watched the KC game, Diggs was smothered.

  5. Rather than start questioning this highly productive player, who has put up great numbers for the whole time he’s been here and been instrumental in Josh’s development, let’s give him a pass because the offense has been clicking while he’s been doubled and putting up good numbers while incorporating Cook, Kincaid and Shakir. It’s obvious that teams are determined to take him away. We will need him going forward and anyone who has watched him over the years knows how competitive he is. My sense is that he comes out against Dallas and Gilmore and makes a statement.

We don't need the Cowboy game, we need 2 and the Miami game with 2 Miami losses. A Cowboy win would make things way easier

We need the Cowboys for Momentum. That would be 2 wins against the 2 best teams in the NFL not named SF. That puts tremendous pressure on Miami going into the gauntlet of Baltimore, Dallas and the showdown to close out the season. The Dallas game assures us that we have our fate in our own hands getting into the tournament.

All Josh says is the right things, all the time. It's a testament to his parents. We are so unbelievably blessed to have him.

Well said, the guy is easy to root for. We just have surround him with some studs on the O-line and a big time receiver who can spread the field.

Thanks, and I still remain confident :)

To be fair, as far as that TD over turn, Allen still gets the ball back down 3 or 4 (depending on XP) with over a minute to go and 3 time outs.  We don’t necessarily lose the game if that TD stands like some are assuming.

And while we got that break with the flag, it was a legit flag, and KC has benefited from mistaken flags like when Mahomes got hit in bounds but the ref still threw the flag last week or week before as if it was unnecessary roughness for hit out of bounds.  Or last year in the SB

Against Eagles, refs blew so many calls against the Bills or we might have won that game too.

Chiefs shot themselves in the foot and had just gotten away with a mugging on a non call PI on Diggs in the endzone too the drive before.  So like with the Bills losses, you can’t let the game be close to where a good or bad call flips a potential win into a loss.

    LFG!  GoBills!!!

Can’t disagree with any of that. I guess after that Philly embarrassment where the officiating crew got roasted nationally, we were due for a call and this crew swallowed their whistles on PIs all game.

  9. Diggs is too good not to play better going forward. Sneed always plays him tough and the refs were letting them play. There were PIs on a few of his targets. The good news is that the 12 personnel formations are working. With Knox and Kincaid involved in the passing game and Cook being a coverage nightmare, our offense will be fine. Shakir should get Davis’s targets and Davis has been an effective blocker.

When calling for a coach or a quarterback’s head, I recommend caution.  When it comes to QB’s in our history, we went from Kemp in the 1960’s to Kelly in the 1990’s and now Allen in the 2020’s. A lot of large gaps!  Coaching is similar…(take your pick here)…I’d say Saban,  Knox, Levy, McDermott. Some will want to throw Wade in there for good measure.  My point is it’s not easy to run out and get a new one and especially one that will be immediately better.

not everyone can have the good fortune of Green Bay when it comes to quarterbacks or Pittsburgh when it comes to coaches.

i think we have to expect and hope that McDermott and Allen figure out what it is they need to do to win.

Sorry, Sean’s had 6 years to figure it out and the team’s poor record can be traced to regression on Sean’s side of the ball. Now much of the problem is underwhelming personnel decisions ( overpaying Miller, whiffing on Elam and reliance on Hyde and Poyer who’s play is not commensurate with their cap hits. This sadly falls on the HC and will take a few years to overcome.

  11. Sean should be fired for poor coaching that led to the team losing to NE, Denver, Jets, Philly and the game against the Giants which should have been a loss. A HC must have success on his side of the ball. His conservative approach to offense, leaving the final outcome in the hands of an injury riddled defense, has failed miserably with pedestrian offenses scoring on last possessions(NE, Denver, Philly, Giants). Pegula got his stadium and he’s giving the fan base the finger by saying there’s zero chance of Sean’s dismissal.

I don't know if it's just me ... but after the last 13 weeks, I'm burned out with this team. I'm a season ticket holder,  and I'll be out there the next 2 weeks regardless and sporting the red, white and blue ... but I really don't care anymore.

But then again, maybe it is just me ... I don't care about much of anything any more.

I looked to the Bills to be a distraction from everything else in my life,  but they're just as F'd as everything else

Nobody can tell you how to process the Bills season, but to throw your hands up and just lump them in to challenges the world deals out that people have to overcome, is sad. Rooting interests are supposed to enhance the entertainment value of spectator sports. You can’t say the 3+ hours every week you watch your team isn’t one of the most heightened experiences in your world. Treat it as entertainment with characters you have come to embrace. This team will provide plenty of thrills every week. It certainly gets you through these tough winter months.

I found this interesting. And of course the rest of the ESPN 🤡's yuck it up a bit later in the segment, but this has been my stance on Josh for forever. All of the idiots with an ax to grind continually spew the same crap, on their same crap shows, pandering to their same crap audience. Josh is a top 2-5 QB in this league, 5 being the absolute basement. They constantly act like he is the one costing this team W's. They don't talk about the 3 games he's led his team to a lead in the final 2 minutes, only to have McDermott's defense piss it away. No, it's his 1 INT two quarters before that which caused them to lose. Idiots. This team would have, AT THE MOST, 3 wins this year without him. At the most. Allen is not blameless. He's not perfect. But let's not act like he's not out here setting records in history of the NFL for things like total TD's, completing 68% of his passes this year, and leading the league in total TD's.

Don’t listen to these imbecilic empty suits. They’re are all just fans of other teams who would sell their kids to have Josh as their QB. The games that were stand alone Bills contests are all highly rated games because this guy is must see TV. He’s the most flamboyant swashbuckling athlete in professional sports. Our record should be better than 6 and 6. Sean’s defense has a lot to do with that. Any turnover by Josh he made up for by doing incredible things to get the lead again. Make a few stops on final possessions and Josh is a top 3 candidate for MVP.

Well they already smashed Tua and Mahomes offense is in disarray.  Dak faded against better teams and will be on the road outside in Buffalo.  Herbert may score a lot, but Bills will be up multiple scores against that defense late.

So yes, I think we will be fine mainly because in all 4 games I believe we will be up multiple scores late instead of a single score where a final stop is a must.

Let’s get KC first and then I’ll buy in. Remember, they’ve dug themselves a big hole and now they must be perfect.

Bills are going to make the playoffs, and I actually believe like I did in 2021 when we were 6 games out that we are going to probably win out.  I know this will be split between the over optimistic crowd and the overly negative crowd, but I am not saying this to just say it.  In 2021 I thought the Bills figured something out in the 2nd half of the Bucs game and I started a thread saying we would win out and they did.

This year, not saying it out of blind homerism, but I really do think this team is about to finish the season strong and likely win out and make the playoffs because I am fully convinced that this offense under Brady is not just a 2 game fling and is going to continue down the stretch.

Ive been watching a lot of content on the Dorsey offense vs the differences in the Brady led offense, and its remarkable Dorsey kept his job as long as he did.  This offense IMHO has turned a corner that will stay the rest of the season.  Its now coming off a bye week to get even more settled into what Brady wants to do and tweaks and wrinkles they want to install.  So lets look at what is in store and why I feel this team is about to cook the next 5 weeks and enter the playoffs as maybe the hottest team in the AFC:

KC - Coming off a loss and an offense with no identity anymore.  The personnel grouping there is shockingly bad and this offense can no longer keep up with high powered offenses.  The thing that has saved KC this year has been the much improved defense, but that defense just got cooked by GB and took some injuries in that game too.  I think the Bills coming in off a bye, KC in an offensive rut, Rasul and Linval now more comfortable in our defense, and this just feels like a game the Bills win and probably win decisively.

DAL - They are the Dolphins of the NFC - They struggle against the better teams in the league while boosting stats on bad teams.  Their "DPOY" just got torched by Seattle along with their whole defense, and that offense in Seattle is mediocre at best.  Dak on the road in Buffalo is a recipe for a down game.  I think because of Buffalos 6-6 record and early season offensive struggles that people see this game as more dangerous than it really is.  I actually think we are going to beat the Cowboys handedly.  Wouldn't surprise me if it looks a lot like what the Niners did to Dallas.

LAC - Allen and this offense will drop over 40 on that defense, especially without Bosa.  Herbert and that offense can score too, and this might be a high scoring game, but Staley and the LAC are the best in the NFL at losing games, so even if they put a lot of points up I still think the Bills win by 2 scores.

NE - Its New England - we arent losing to them twice.  Bottom 3 team in the NFL right now without question.

MIAMI - With Trevors ankle injury, and KC losing to GB and probably losing to us this week, the #1 seed could very well be locked down for Miami by week 17 and they would rest their starters for all or part of the game.  Either way, I do not expect Miami to have much to play for and we probably don't see their starters for more than a half.  BUT even if they do need to win and play the whole game, we always cook the Fish, so a dub either way in my eyes.  The key to beating Miami is take away Tuas first read and don't give up the big play, something the Bills have excelled at during the Tua-Hill era.

I see 5 games, and I see 5 wins.  Negative crowd is gonna flame away, just like they did in 2021.  But I really do think this team is about to cook these last 5 weeks and that momentum will carry over into the post season where I don't see too much of a threat standing in the way to reach the AFCCG for the Bills.

With the offense humming and the defense integrating so much needed veteran reinforcements in Rasul and Linval, I think we are poised to make a run here.  I think 5-0 is quite possible, but even 4-1 may get the job done of getting in.

I love your optimism and you make a compelling case for turning the season around but in all honesty I can’t envision this defense making a big stop against a quality QB. When you have a coach that plays to put the outcome of the game in the hands of a defense that has given up game winning drives on final possessions to Mack Jones, Tyrod Taylor, Russel Wilson, Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts why do you think they can make stops against Mahomes, Prescott, Herbert or Tua. I know they can score enough but these defensive players and Sean can’t give objective fans a reason to believe.

  16. Congratulations Dawson, best wishes to you and that great young lady. Now, would it be to much to ask for you to make some contribution to this team this season because you have been pretty much a disappointment. The 12 man sets was supposed to be our go to offense and it doesn’t work without another productive TE in the pass game. I know Josh loves you but Kincaid is our best TE, and it’s not close.

  17. Our season is over until we win a game against a playoff team. Sadly we have not done this since the Miami game. We’ve been competitive in some games(Jags, Bengals, Eagles,) but we are not deserving of any playoff consideration until this roster steps up in a big spot. Maybe it’s better that this front office sees a real need to turn this roster over a bit. Our secondary has been dominated on crushing game ending drives in too many games. Our 2 LB sets are pitifully inconsistent in supporting the run defense and underneath pass defense. Our receivers are fine but where are the long completions that break the opposition’s spirit. Floyd has had a nice year and Oliver is great but our other edge rushers have no sacks or consistent penetration.  What playoff team with big time receivers are we stopping with this defense?  Josh has to win shootouts for us to win those games. It can happen but this is where a coach can make a difference. Do we really expect our coaching staff to get us to the finish line?

The choice isn't Josh vs no Josh.

The choice is Josh as he is (with tons of turnovers) vs an even better Josh (with less turnovers).

I pick choice two. I would like the Bills to win the Superbowl.

This will be my last response. I’m begging you, stop complaining about a few turnovers, which is part of the equation with this roster. No separation, tight windows and pressure on Josh for any offense. You  should focus on surrounding our generational QB with a #2 receiver who can be deep threat,  a different left tackle,  an OLB and a new young secondary. Throw in a new offensive minded HC and we’ll have a realistic shot. A turnover or 2 won’t make a difference because we’ll crush teams.

Josh is much better than Trent Edwards. So no.

Your counterpoints are very funny. Josh needed a miraculous 4th Q comeback against the Pats (don’t forget the defense forcing the TO to enable that comeback, always a forgotten play) because the offense couldn’t score more than a TD through 53 minutes against a terrible defense and a terrible team.

If we want to give Josh the lion’s share of the credit for the team’s accomplishments since he’s been here (totally fair), then he also gets a nice piece of the blame pie when the team is 6-6.

“Josh is the sole reason we have a couple playoffs wins but nothing is his fault this season” ain’t gonna fly.

No QB, franchise or otherwise, in the history of the NFL HAS EVER been blameless for a lost season.

Better than Trent Edwards is the best you can do. With what he has to work with, compared to Kelly’s SB teams, the best  in team history. Who else has produced on this team consistently? The short answer is Oliver and Floyd on defense and Diggs on offense. Kincaid will be good, but they just started targeting him 3 weeks ago. Cook has had a few good games but dropped a TD and hasn’t been used enough. Josh is the offense and he’s got an average O-line that gets too many penalties. This roster, with the injuries on defense, would have 2 or 3 wins with 95% of the other QBs in the league. Josh should be celebrated for 6 wins. What other QBs not named Mahomes could win more?  Josh’s escapability, running threat and arm talent makes every game winnable. According to FireChans, it’s those one or two pesky turnovers that killed us. Without Josh Bills fans are wearing bags on their heads.
