If you don't want to have a discussion about the two best QB's in the league, that's fine.

But I can't think of a reason that you would come into my thread and tell the rest of us we shouldn't be talking about it either.

I don't believe that "discerning football observers" consider the quality of a QB's play to be dependent on how the rest of his team does on a given day.

You know the elite QBs and the HC gets blamed for losses and credit for wins. Do you honestly believe Josh was fairly evaluated after the losses to Cinci and KC the last 2 years. They kept saying too many turnovers, he plays hero ball, he’s not Burrow or as good as Lamar. Did anyone think the Bills would be able to compete after losing Diggs and Davis. Only Bills fans understand how great he is.

You're adding qualifiers now.  My comment was strictly based on the logic that was being presented - you said Allen had to vanquish Mahomes to be considered the best.

Look, I get that this is how most people look at it.  It's not how I look at it. I think "rings" is more of an emotional appeal - rings are a team accomplishment. And I've seen the coaching & teams Mahomes has had to work with, and that Allen has had to work with.

Allen has outplayed Mahomes I'd say roughly half the time in the playoffs.  I think he played better in the 13 seconds game, though it was close. It was close last year too.  But in 13 seconds, Allen did everything a QB could do to secure the win - and his D let him down.  Last year, Mahomes' defense made the big play to basically seal the game, while our depleted D simply couldn't stop the KC offense, which showed all game & had little to do w/ the disparity between the 2 QB's, if there is any.

Obviously your logic is sound and I don’t disagree with anything you said. However the way Josh will be accepted by discerning football observers as the best must be connected to wins in the biggest moments. Defense and coaching is always part of the equation but it’s a bottom line business and Mahomes overcame Josh’s heroics in “13 seconds” and beat the Bengals single-handedly 2 years ago on one leg. If Josh could have won that game last year and then gone into Baltimore and beat the one seed Ravens, he would have had a case. The coaching has improved and addition by subtraction with no Diggs. This is the year we get it done.

    Quarterbacks don't play each other.

We’re talking about anointing Josh as the best QB in football. It’s about winning games in the regular season and advancing in the playoffs. So far Josh  only done the former. Mahomes has done both. It’s a QB driven league, that’s why they’re paid 50plus million a year and usually it’s going to be Mahomes on the other team we have to beat. So as far as being considered the best, you have to vanquish Mahomes.

  4. I love Josh and am in awe of his talent and leadership. I firmly believe he will bring us multiple SBs. The comparison and talk of a changing of the guard and overtaking Mahomes as the best QB in football is silly. Until Josh beats KC in the playoffs it’s just partisan fans getting way ahead of themselves. Now last season it was a Diggs drop, getting jostled on his last throw into the end zone  and a Bass missed chip shot that ended our season, so it’s a team breakdown that held him back, but Mahomes always overcomes team obstacles. Josh’s time is coming but beating limited QBs( Tua, Trevor,) is not the “changing of the guard “. Now Mahomes admits he’s been unimpressive this season but last year KC stunk until the playoffs and then ran the table.

i don't fear the Ravens as much as some. with williams being an efficient tackler and Spector being a fairly large dude combined with the difference between the rest of the our corps i think it is in our favor to let them take the brunt of this work against these guys to avoid the wear and tear vs. bernard and milano. it's almost ideal (assuming we win) that these guys get the tread.

with all of that being said we will see that henry has not truly lost a step. he is in as good of shape as ever and it shows in the later quarters when most others are tired. so if he builds up steam and the ball game is close they can consistently just use him to knock us around a little bit and set up play action. regardless, though, they can't keep up with us on offense because their defense is so glaringly weak. if we get to 27+ points there is no way they win.

they allow ridiculous amounts of passing and Shakir may have a career night against them. i don't think Cook will be as big of a factor.

Your assessment of them having a challenge to stop Josh and Co. is on the money. Cook will be an integral part of every win for us because he’s becoming a matchup nightmare out of the backfield either on dump offs or go patterns against LBS or safeties. He also is a threat to get big chunks on cutbacks. Our offense is becoming so multidimensional with the improved O - line play and Josh having multiple great targets. TEs and backs are making big contributions in the pass game and Josh is demoralizing defenses with QB draws. If we keep away from TOs, it’s hard to beat us.

  6. The Ravens game will be a big test for both teams. Don’t take the Jags destruction as an indication of total NFL dominance. The Bills are still vulnerable to a running team with an elusive QB. as the Cards showed in game one. Henry is still a beast and Flowers, and those 2 TEs are formidable. The question for Baltimore is can they defend Josh and the multiple weapons at his disposal. I’d love to have a healthy Taron and our starting MLB but the depth as played well. I like our chances if there is no damaging TOs.

We will never see this type of player at qb again in a Bills uni.  At least in our lifetimes.   He’s special.

Let’s expand that to in any uniform. Josh is more talented in a multidimensional way with superior leadership skills, than any QB in our lifetime. Circumstances have prevented him from SBs, but does any objective observer believe that he will be denied for much longer. He has brought an exhilaration and an air of confidence to Bills fans that has been missing for 3 decades. Thank you Terry, Brandon and Sean for bringing us this generational talent.

I think Dallas is the Dolphins of the NFC but I dont think the Ravens are all that talented this year.  Their defense is not as good as past years. Their Oline is not good. Their run game is not as good. Their receivers are okish but other than Flowers and Andrews they are jags.  More and more teams are containing Lamar better.  Its to the point that he almost seeks the contact and thats just gonna get him hurt. He doesnt have the body of Josh to be able to take those impacts as well. Lamar is not a terrible pocket passer but he just is not as good as the other elite guys.

I think the game could go either way.

Don’t dismiss Lamar after 2 games. He had an incredible MVP season last year.He choked in the playoffs but he’s still a great talent. Their backs with Henry and Hill are solid plus Flowers and their two TEs(arguably the best in football) give them a good shot to win any game. Their defense will be better this week and they have a HOF kicker. They’re always dangerous.

Disagree. To be honest I don't really think their record matters going into our game, but if anything they would be more motivated at 1-2 coming off a win.

They will be highly motivated either way, but the fact that they would be 0and 3 in front of a rabid fanbase with their GM, coaching staff and Lamar’s value on the line. This would be a hard assignment for any visiting team. Just my opinion. I think it’s a moot point because Dallas is a fake team and they can’t beat a talented Ravens squad. They easily could’ve been 2and 0.

  10. Why is Beane dragging his feet about depth at lb? Milano went down in training camp and our guys on the depth chart are either injury prone or raw and underperformers( Spector, Morrow). We are on the precipice of being really good on defense with the reemergence of Von and Rousseau about to breakout along with good talent on the back end. Benford looks legit and Ingraham has been fine in relief of Taron. Elam is highly motivated and should be good depth. It’s time to use a draft choice to trade for a LB or sign a guy not on a roster. This can be our time.

I don't disagree, but they said just gonna skate on through to a division title.  And we are missing Taron, Milano, and now Bernard who will be felt a lot more when we play Balt and Hou, more so than Miami and AZ.  And as much as I lovvvved the Jets dud week 1, I am not ready to declare them dead either.  And we don't even know if Tua will miss a game either and they have a pretty squishy schedule compared to ours.  So if Tua isn't out long, doesn't retire, etc...they could still stack some wins in terms of pressure on the division lead.  Their only real tough game again isn't until they play us in Buffalo week 9.

I picked us to win the AFCE, I obviously still believe we will...just saying, lets not get out over our ski's too far here and start talking about skating on through like its nothing.  We still have a tough schedule to contend with.

And I told everyone Miami was taking a step back this year and probably wouldn't be a playoff team.  So beating up on 2 mediocre teams I don't think answers how we will fare against the real contenders we are coming up against here shortly.

Here’s the problem with Miami, Tua can’t win against northeastern teams in cold weather. Tua was awful before getting injured and the Bills are obviously in his head. He won’t play for at least 4 weeks if Miami really cares about him like they claim. The Jets are a soft team that crumbles with any adversity. They have one dependable receiver because Williams never plays. The O-line is far from dependable and Rogers is not as elusive as in his GB years. Their defense is just OK, nothing more. They can be run on. The Bills will beat all the teams that they should and split with the playoff teams. Anything close to even money that Buffalo wins the division should warrant betting your house.

    Lot of football left.

We got Jags, Balt, Hou next 3 games…let’s get through those before we start talking about skating through

Looking at the next 8 games leading up to the KC and SF games, I see no worse than 5 and 3. That gives us 8 and 4 if we split the home games against the 2 best teams on our schedule. The rest of the season is pretty doable and barring injuries, the East is ours to lose.

  13. I am so tired of this me first diva sucking up all the oxygen trying to make himself the center of attention. Who cares what he thinks the reason for his former teams parting company with him. He becomes a huge distraction when he doesn’t get targets. Perhaps this guy who claims he’s all about winning, could’ve had one big game in the playoffs. He fanned on a catchable ball in the KC game that would’ve helped us win. He was ordinary in the Bills comeback in the 2nd half of the season last year. He’s in a contract year and watch him cancerize the Texans if he doesn’t get the ball enough. I loved Diggs for 3 seasons but he forgot how Josh made him better and gave the Bills fanbase the finger after supporting him when the Vikes dumped him. I wish him nothing but futility, which is what he deserves.

The Jets is the best team but I’m a little worried. After we spend the year Kicking in the teeth of the sad teams in the East I can see us gettin a little soft befor we gotta play the real teams like the Chiefs and Ravens in the playoffs.  Those guys got tough teams to play and we get the weak Patriots and the tiny little Dolphins to kick around.  I thought youse might toughen us up abit but now I seen the crap youse gonna run out there.  What happened to youse?  How did you turn into garbage so quick?  Maybe Sauce can practice by trynna guard all your receivers on da same play all at the same time or sumthin.  I was hopin youse might at least try but what is this?

I guess that whole town is too busy rootin for the tennis girl to pay attention to the team anymore.  I had some business over there the other day so I “convinced” some punk in a fancy suit to give me his ticket.  She did good.  I hope she wins cuz that’s all that’s gonna win for youse this year.

    P.S. J-e-t-s J-E-t-s J-E-T-s J-E-T-S

You might have made a better case for your Jets, who never can do anything other than put their fans on suicide watch by November for 2 decades, if you finished elementary school. Just a suggestion, let someone who finished high school proof read your silly, embarrassing posts. Don’t let anyone who you care about read them.

Watching Matt Araiza boom 70 yd punts on a consistent basis, while hollow leg Martin "Mr Shank" himself is still allowed to punt for this team is beyond frustrating. We now have to watch Mahommes win multiple Super Bowls and eliminate us from the playoffs every year. If Xavier Worthy is the next Tyreek Hill we seriously have to question if this team, this city has a voodoo curse on it. Why the hell did Beane not sign Araiza after he was absolved of any wrong doing? You waste a draft pick on the guy and he is available to you and you ignore the chance to sign him. I bet any money Coach MCD had a say in it because of his Christian background and the "Culture" he wants to preserve. If players can help you win games you have to have them on the team. Field position is a huge factor in the game and Araiza is a weapon to have on the team. I love Josh Allen and I am not saying this to be negative towards him but why do we have to help  KC look so good every year. Bill's Mafia we are living in a nightmare.

Could we let Araiza and Worthy play a few games that count before getting into Christian values undermining our potential. The choke job against KC in the playoffs is owned by Bass, Diggs and our defense which got dominated again when it counted most. Keeping Bass is a Beane problem. Not resigning Araiza was a decision that at least a 90%of the clubs would agree with because the prospect of political backlash was not worth it. Martin will be good enough until the elements start messing with him, but he won’t be the reason we miss the playoffs, if we do.I still like our chances.

  16. Why would you give up on a tremendous talent so soon? Didn’t he show enough last season to get fans excited with his talent both running the ball and catching it out of the backfield? He’s a matchup nightmare against safeties and lbs. He’s had some dropsies but I’m confident they’ll fix that. You need two quality backs to compete at a high level. Davis looked great against preseason camp fodder. Can he play a real game before trading a guy that’s producing.

  17. Brandon Beane was exposed last night for the awful decision to bring back Trubisky. If the criteria for signing a former QB is Josh’s comfort level with a buddy observing the game from the sidelines, that’s not good enough. He’s ponderous making decisions in the pocket and has to have zero confidence after being an abject failure when handed the starting job in Pitt. His new additions on defense however ,(Hardy, Andreeson, Soloman) looked solid. I also like Zack Davidson and those practice squad RBs(Gore and Evan’s) along with the drafted center and Grable on the O-line. I can only hope Josh stays healthy for 17 games.
