Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
Nanker replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
We’ll Korea was on Truman’s, Eisenhower’s, Kennedy’s, Johnson’s, Nixon’s, Ford’s, Carter’s GHW Bush’s, Clinton’s, GW’s, Obama’s collective watches. Trump is the first and ONLY POTUS to attempt to end that scurrilous state of war. He’s done more to isolate Iran and their hegemony in the ME than ANY POTUS. And he’s doing it without back door deals with pallets of TRILLIONS in unmarked bills shipped in CIA unmarked planes to the Ayatollah. -

Trump is on the verge of ending the Afghanistan war, tried to end the Korean War - which is still technically ongoing, refused to get sucked into the war in Syria, and has a stunning Middle East peace proposal on the table. worst war monger ever. -

Can't happen in four years. It would require a Constitutional amendment passed by 2/3 of the House and Senate, and then ratification by 3/4 of the states, i.e., 38. -
And yet we get talt like the following: Unequal injustice for Republicans. Protection of illegal activities from Trump haters. Of course. We knew it would be so. She was never supposed to lose. The NY Bar association has written a letter to Congress and others about this dangerous situation: The letter begins: Instead, the bar says this appears “from all external circumstances to be an instance of President Trump and Attorney General [William P.] Barr acting in concert to protect Stone from punishment.”

Trump's Assault On Health Care

I'm all in favor for Medicare for all. I really am, as long as they don't change the system one little bit. Once you're in the system, everything is wonderful... simply wonderful. But when you pay the premiums and the co-pays you're only going to be paying about $5k per year per family member. It'll be glorious. Give them what they want. -

Phony as a three dollar bill "But Mr. Buttigieg’s stint in the Navy isn’t as impressive as he makes it out to be. His 2019 memoir is called “Shortest Way Home,” an apt description of his military service. He entered the military through a little-used shortcut: direct commission in the reserves. The usual route to an officer’s commission includes four years at Annapolis or another military academy or months of intense training at Officer Candidate School. ROTC programs send prospective officers to far-flung summer training programs and require military drills during the academic year. Mr. Buttigieg skipped all that—no obstacle courses, no weapons training, no evaluation of his ability or willingness to lead. Paperwork, a health exam and a background check were all it took to make him a naval officer. He writes that his reserve service “will always be one of the highlights of my life, but the price of admission was an ongoing flow of administrativia.” That’s not how it’s supposed to work. The paperwork isn’t the price of admission but the start of a long, grueling test. Combat veterans have grumbled for decades about the direct-commission route. The politically connected and other luminaries who receive immediate commissions are disparaged as “pomeranian princes.” Former Trump chief of staff Reince Priebus became a Naval Reserve officer in 2018 at age 46. Hunter Biden, son of the former vice president, accepted a direct commission but was discharged after one month of service for failing a drug test." More at the link. And IDBillzFan is right - no one here would criticize Tulsi's service because it was genuine. -

The far left - which is the most energized part of the Dem's base will stay home. They absolutely will not support Bloomberg's buying the nomination. -

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2018-2019.htm Hedge, it’s not the deaths per people with “symptoms”. It’s the deaths per actual hospitalizations. Most deaths occur in hospitals. Not all, but most. And those largely are due to the concomitant pneumonia. -
