The cap is going to drop quite a bit next year, so we probably need to temper expectations, especially with some of the expiring contracts the Bills have.

Isn't the forum for discussion of ideas like that?

Neither were "right". Both players were likely a product of the system and their role in it. If they had come back, there's a good chance they'd have kept up their level of play in the same system. Neither were good enough to excel on their own outside of Buffalo. There's a good case to make that they should have been kept regardless of what they've done with other teams. That being said, the cap space can be used elsewhere.

Yea. I mean there IS a thread about it on Fin Heaven, but it wasn't started until today and the general consensus is that there's nothing wrong with the Bills scoring points. A bit of butt hurt over the bomb to Davis, but...they couldn't even stop the Bills' practice quad running back when they were running every damn down. The whole thing is a big nothingburger.

So, we're rooting for Pittsburgh next week, right?

For the players, yes, sure. But what we all talk about has no bearing on what happens Saturday, so there's no reason we can't get ahead of ourselves. -
Round 1 Playoff: Colts at Bills - Sat. 1/9 1:05pm

All true, except the Titan's D is absolutely terrible. They have the 5th worst defense in the league. Their secondary especially is trash. -

IMO it comes down to two things: The offense keeping up their high flying momentum The defense stopping Jonathan Taylor 2020/21 Rivers does not worry me. Bills secondary is solid. Colts secondary, however, is ass. -
Jets, Chargers request to interview Brian Daboll for HC
Domitian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the "insider" reports from Jax are that they are only interested in someone with HC experience at the pro or college level. Not seriously going to consider a promotion for a OC or DC. If I'm Daboll, I'd rather stay OC in Buffalo than a doomed HC with the Jets or Lions, but Chargers would be a dream job. I think it may be difficult for the Jets or Lions to attract a truly "hot" candidate. Much like for a Bills. McDermott wasn't burning up the rumor mill with being a hot hire. I think they'll need to look beyond the guys who are getting all the buzz because I'm not sure they'd be interested in that tire fire. -
Out of all the potential OCs out there, I'm not sure why you'd bring back a guy that was already here and not really especially successful, plus favors an offensive philosophy that is the opposite of what made this offense a success.

Bills 17th game next season vs. Washington
Domitian replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked the drama that everyone playing a divisional rival in the final week set up the last few years. Miami playing the Bills for their playoff lives. Cleveland needing to beat the Steelers to get in. Rams and Cards fighting each other for a spot. That was good stuff. -

For someone to take the Jets job at this point it has to be because they simply want to be a head coach...period, and don't care how they get it as long as they get that job title. OR they're so full of themselves that they think they have the midas touch to magically turn them around. -

Bills defensive weakness is against the run, and the Steelers have one of the worst running games in the league. Yes, I'd much rather play them than Henry or Lamar. Steelers are paper tigers. -
...What? If anything they're close to even. Stills is on the decline of his career. Davis as a rookie has more yards and TDs than Still had in any of the last 3 years. Davis' 7TDs would rank as Still 2nd best season of his career.

Did blowout make Sean McDermott favorite for COY?
Domitian replied to mjt328's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Betting Odds pretty much had Flores and MCD neck and neck as favorites, some with Flores in a slight lead. I would think getting utterly destroyed in every facet of the game in a "win and in" scenario to MCD who played his starters only a half would end that discussion, but the award is voted on by sports writers, so who knows. They're as likely to give it to Ron Rivera for the whole coaching with cancer angle. -

COY voting is an utter crapshoot, so who knows. I do think you have to take Flores out after that game though. -
Definitely the most prolific offense the team has ever had. The K-Gun did have more balance though. HOF QB, 2x HOF WR, HOF and MVP RB. This Bills team lacks the running game. That being said, the K-Gun failed when in truly mattered, 4 years in a row, so maybe this pass happy attack in a pass happy league will be different!

Let them. Their secondary is trash. Doesn't matter what scheme they go with. There is arguably no secondary in the league that can cover a spread of Diggs-Beasley-Brown-Davis. I fully expect you're right, that they will try and coax the Bills into running into their #2 in the league run defense. However I fully expect that it simply won't matter. Bills will play their game.

What is your expectation for the Bills in the playoffs?
Domitian replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At least we all agree that losing to the Colts in the Wild Card would be an abject failure. Given how hot the team is, the records they've broken, etc. I see it this way Loss in WC - Failure Loss in Divisional - Disappointing, but acceptable Loss in AFCC - Success Loss in Super Bowl - NO NOT AGAIN -
This is a good matchup for the Bills. The Bills strengths (passing game) on offense match up well with the Colts weakness (pass defense) on D. On the other side, the Colts, despite Taylor getting hot in the second half, are still a passing team with a top 10 passing offense. Pass D is the Bills strength where they are also top 10. Colts have a fantastic run D, but the Bills aren't really a running team, so I'm not sure that really ends up mattering much at all. Colts secondary is very, very poor. Bills cover -7 easily.
