Who is your main DARK HORSE this season for the BILLS?
MPL replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously it's Duke Williams. -
What was the most impressive drive of the 2020 Season?
MPL replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think about the scoring drives to start the 3rd quarter against both the Steelers and Ravens in the Divisional round. In both games, the offense had been stymied for the entire first half, and in both games, they came out at the start of the 2nd half and scored touchdowns. They may not have been the prettiest drives, but they were under the lights in big games against good defenses that had held them in check. -
Is there another hurdle JA needs to hop over?

I'd like to see him get better about not subjecting himself to as many big hits, or taking hits at awkward angles. This is a tough one because he's made so many great plays when keeping a play alive after it's blown up. And he definitely got a lot better about this last year, but there were still times where you'd like to see him just get rid of the ball and come back for another play. I think he reverts to this more when games are not going well—KC, Tennessee, etc. I think about the Chargers game where Bosa was in the backfield right after the snap and Josh tried to stiff arm him and got rolled up in a bad-looking way. I wasn't sure he was going to get up from that. Or in the Raiders game where he made that 8 yard shovel pass while being tackled and ended up dislocating his shoulder. I think he's got the mentality that he can take on anyone in the NFL. That's not a bad trait, but you have to be smart about it. Again, I don't think you want to reign in the leash on him and make him play to not get hurt. You want him to go out there and do what he does. But there's a reason guys like Brady, Rodgers, Brees, etc. have had such long careers—they're excellent at limiting the hits they take. Nah, he's still got time. He's young. A lot of guys don't hit their peak facial hair growth until they are in their 30s. I work for a men's grooming company. We see it all the time—guys who couldn't grow much facial hair in their early twenties who end up with massive beards and handlebar mustaches in their 30s and 40s. -
It really varies from year-to-year. Two years ago I was really happy to see Andy Reid finally win a Super Bowl. Now I cant stand the Chiefs and always want to see them lose. It's easy to empathize with the Browns and I like seeing them become competitive, but will grow tired of it quickly. It's also very easy to root for whoever is my fantasy teams.

Man, I hope you're right... they finally have my size in white, so I just ordered one.

Hell, we might have beat KC if you wore all 4 jerseys at the same time 😂

I'd sure like a Josh Allen jersey, but I fear he'll become terrible if I get one. That's my Josh Allen superstition.

Just out of curiosity... does your statistic that 90% of statistics are completely made up fall into the completely made up category? Based on that statistic, it seems there's a 90% chance that that statistic is made up. More importantly, would Josh Allen be allowed to attend should he decide to not get vaccinated? 😂

Hard to pick one. I think these moments will stay with me for a while. 1. Johnson's pick-6 against Baltimore 2. Allen's TD to Diggs against Indy to go up two scores 3. Diggs torching the Pats D for that long TD, and bouncing off of two defenders for his 3rd TD. 4. Allen freezing Richard Sherman and hitting Davis for a TD against SF 5. Allen and Diggs taking over in the 2nd half against Pittsburgh 6. The Hail Murray 7. Allen's TD throw to Diggs seconds before the Hail Murray 8. Diggs watching the Chiefs celebrate 9. Josh Norman getting stiff-armed into oblivion by Henry 10. Allen tossing the ball in the face of the Chiefs defender late in the AFC Championship

I absolutely HATE our team’s focus on Special Teams

The real debate here isn't whether paying for ST is a good strategy. The real debate is whether or not water is actually wet or just makes things wet. http://scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.php?key=6097 -
Wait, how did I forget about Shaq Lawson? He was a combination of my two favorite people—Shaquille O'Neal and myself.
-
As a Lawson, I was hoping for a new Lawson on the Bills. It's been too long since Manny Lawson was here.

The Patriots had the worst TE group in the NFL last year. They now have a solid/good TE group—not a great TE group. Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry are not Travis Kelces. They're not George Kittles. They're not Gronks. Nobody last year was sitting around going, "omg, how do we stop Jonnu Smith?" They got better at TE. They didn't get great at TE. Teams that "win" free agency rarely win big on the field. Will they be a better team next year? Probably. But we'll be fine.

I love the 90s red, royal blue, and white. I love most teams' 90s uniforms, though. Would love to see the bucs go back to white and orange, the eagles go back to heather green and silver, the seahawks go back to silver and royal blue, etc. It's probably because I was a kid in the 90s and that's when my love of football was cemented—I've got the most nostalgia connected to that decade. There's been a rule in place for the past several years that requires teams to have only one helmet color, which is why we haven't seen the bucs creamsicles or old white and red patriots uniforms in a while. I believe that rule expired at the end of this season, so it's possible we could see more throwback uniforms next season.

A Few Thoughts About the Ravens Game, in no particular order
MPL replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the same—thought it was maybe closer to 103. But I think the spot where the interception is made is where it's tracked from. Johnson picks it just on the other side of the goal line and then his momentum took him back a couple of steps, but again, I think they track from the initial spot of the interception. -
Key to beating the Ravens- beating the blitz

The Browns put up 42 on this defense in week 14. Jarvis Landry had a huge day and Baker made a ton of throws off schedule and out of the pocket. I think there's reason to believe that Josh and our WR corp can have success. Of course, the Ravens put up 45 in this game, even with Lamar taking a 10 minute bathroom break. I think our D is better than Cleveland's but who knows. This game could be wild. -
Discipline, pursuit angles, and getting multiple guys to the ball will be critical on Defense. Lamar Jackson can flip a game on its head with one play.
