There is an old adage- when things are going good the quarterback gets too much of the credit. When things are going bad he gets too much of the blame. I believe that to be very true.

Let's see - Art Modell - moved the franchise out of the city Bud Adams - moved the franchise out of the city Bill Bidwell - moved the franchise out of the city. Unlike, Cleveland, Houston or St. Louis, if this franchise moves, Buffalo NEVER has an NFL team again. There are 3. Please tell me why I am wrong.

Does everyone realize that for a tight end, catching the football is at best 50% of the position. Stupar caught a lot of passes against 2nd and 3rd team defensive players, most of who are no longer on NFL rosters. How is he at blocking? If you cant answer that question, how can you possibly say he is the best tight end on the roster. Shockingly, when he was waived (twice), no one picked him up. But he is our best tight end because he caught some passes against 3rd stringers. Sheesh

While the kids on this board worry about Madden ratings, us oldtimers can indulge ourselves in some really archaic Bills trivia. Thanks. I had forgotten about #31 but if you look at early Bills promotional materials, you will usually see that number.
-
Your synapsis were close. In 1969, #34 was worn by none other than WR Bubba Thorton (explain that one). Preston wore #31

You see Wilson was even cheap back then. He would not put more than 9 letter names on a players back to save the money. Lucky thing for Monty Ledbetter.

The heck with the Heidi game. On October 11, 1969. The Bills and the Patriots were tied 16- 16 with 5 minutes left. Wayne Patrick and Mini Max Anderson were carrying the running load for an injured O J Simpson. Into the game at halfback comes Preston Ridlehuber. Quarterback James Harris in for ineffective Jack Kemp hands the ball to Preston for a sweep left. But Preston pulls up and throws a 45 yard TD pass to Haven Moses and the Bills win. This was the only game that Preston gained any yardage for the Bills. By the way the next week the Bills went to Oakland and Lamonica threw 6 TD passes. IN THE FIRST HALF. The John Madden coached Raiders beat the Johnny Rauch (ex Oakland coach) Bills 50-21. One of the TD's came off a Bubba Thorton fumble on a kickoff return.

I just watched Coach Jauron's PC from today.

Just like that loser Kevin Gilbride. The "it must be the coach" crowd wanted his head on a stick. What is he doing now? -

Ok. Perfect example. If Joey Porter had been on the outside instead of Keith Ellison, do you think one or two games may have been turned around? Possibly. I am not buying that the Lions were full of pro bowlers who got undercoached. They were just less talented. Bellicek was a failure with the Browns. Levy was a failure with the Chiefs. Gibbs was a failure the second time around with the Redskins. Players make coaches more often than coaches make players. -

Like all fans I get incredibly frustrated with the close losses and it is hard not to blame it on coaching. But in the end, I ask you to look at the Bills roster the last 3 years and tell me that they were better than 7 - 9 teams. We have not had one legitimate pro bowl player beyond Jason Peters in 2006. Oh excuse me, Moorman. Why should have this team made the playoffs? What magic should Jauron pulled off? Have they ever not played hard? Have you ever heard divisiveness? Go to any teams fan board and you will find a common theme, if the team loses the coach and the quarterback suck. And that is usually the level of sophistication of the discourse. So, I ask you Jauron-haters. tell me why this team, with the roster he had to work with, should be better than the record he has produced? -
Wow. the triple header 1.) "Bible banging homo"; 2.) "little twink"; and 3.) "puh-leese ... take "yur boring answer "w/ya". I am sorry that I accussed of you being 12 or 13, I over rated you. Those new pubes do start to itch dont they?

Anybody who uses the term b-slapped and spells your "yur". 12 or 13?

One more time. There are NO Buffalo Bills without Ralph Wilson. There is no team here in 1960. There is no team when there were numerous profitable offerings throughout his 50 years to leave this dying city. There are no Super Bowl appearances. There is no stadium in Orchard Park. This is "Its a Wonderful Life" in all it dying city mode. It is unbelievable that he stayed. The only people who should really be upset is his family. He has cost them hundreds of millions of dollars by not moving to LA or Houston when he had the chance and the league would have let him. So, all you whiners, sobbers and complainers about Ralph, if you have ever enjoyed a wonderful fall afternoon in Orchard Park or on Dodge and Jefferson, it is because of him. Almost all others would have taken the money and run like the Buffalo Braves. Look at the stats about Buffalo. Why in the world did he stay? Count your lucky stars.

Jacksonville is expecting 10 Blackouts this season!
Yoho replied to Bad Lieutenant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Named after the great Mack Yoho. The Bills original kicker. During kickoffs, as he approached the ball the fans would yell "yo" and when he kicked it they would finish it off with "ho". Actually if you check out his stats, he was an absolutely horrible kicker but he also played defensive end. -

I have to make this correction. Rick Azar did NOT do the Bills broadcasts before "Van Miller got the job". Van had the job beginning with the Bills in 1960. For some awful, godforsaken reason, for a few years in the 70's the Bills hired Al Meltzer (from Philly) to do the play by play and Rick Azar to do the color. So for the rest of eternity we have to listen to their description of OJ breaking the 2000 yard barrier instead of Van. It is just wrong. And for those of us following the Bills for the whole 49 years, just an injustice. -
Broadcast commentators - shutup already!

I am SHOCKED by your opinion. You are usually so neutral and fair minded that I respect your opinion. This seems so negative for you. I am surprised. So, the obvious answer is "definitely zero all pros". Thanks -
Preston Ridelhuber. Look it up.

Is this what this board has come to?

Saying that a player "sucks" as compared to calling him a "pansy" are two different things. One questions his ability, the other questions his toughness. There are plenty of NFL players who lack the ability to play in the league. There are few that lack the toughness. About the only position that qualifies as lacking the toughness might be some highly athletic cornerbacks that will just not play the physical game that is the NFL. Even they are tough. I will buy some NFL Qb's are not as tough as others, but calling them a pansy is way over the line.

or if you decide that your sleep aid of choice is used in operations to REALLY keep people asleep it is possible you might never wake up... I get it
-
Your humor is fine. You know you are being ridiculous. It is the tweens that try to judge the toughness of NFL quarterbacks I find rather silly.
-
Not a player who ever made it to the NFL begins to qualify. Anybody that can stand in there with a 300 pound lineman who can run a 4.7 coming full speed at you and can make a team is tougher than 99% of the posters here and the other 1% of the posters will die young.
