OK. Here is a response. It is May, they are just doing voluntary off season work outs. They are introducing the offense and the defense to all the new players. They are not wearing pads. Whatever he may be doing at this point is pretty much meaningless. I know it is off season and I know we are all bored, but please, oh please, oh please do not suggest we need to be worried because we have not heard his name in summaries of meaningless workouts.

Jim Rome to Pats* Fans: YOUR TEAM CHEATED!
Yoho replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is obvious to me clones that the Patricheats should not be considered champions because they cheated. I mean, they cheated. It is like they watched film of other teams and knew their signals and could call their plays. Thinks of the advantage. I mean they knew their plays becuase they watched film. I mean, how is that not cheating. They knew their plays. It was like, here comes a draw play and then their was a draw play. I mean, how hard is that to stop. Think about it, I mean think about it, the Patricheats knew the plays and then they stopped the plays. Hey Bill, what is the play? It is going to be a draw play. Ok, thanks. Got it. I mean I freaking got it. Let's look for the draw play. I mean how tough is that. It is unbelievable that they knew the plays. I mean it it hysterical and ridiculous. Nice Bill. You stopped the draw play. Real nice. Let's take a call. -
Let me help you with the math. Most pro teams try to go about 50% run and 50% pass. Sometimes they run out of the 4 receiver (no TE) set and sometimes they pass out of the two TE set but generally they use one tight end which means half the time they run and half the time they throw. So that would be 50/50, but if you watch the games at all, they often keep the tight end tight in passing situations to help in pass blocking. Thus, if you remember algebra class, the tight end would be blocking 75% of the time and going out on a pattern about 25% of the time. It might be 80/20, it might be 70/30, but it does not negate my point that more often than not when the Tight End is on the field, he is blocking. Thus a godd blocking, average receiving tight end may be more valuable than a good receiving , bad blocking tight end. The Bills seem to value the later much to the chagrin to many on this Board who only care about their recieving ability
-
Do you realize that on about 75% of the plays the tight end is a blocker? They block on all the running plays and half the passing plays. Yet, all anyone seems to pay attention to is how many passes they catch. If Royals is as good a blocker as portrayed, he will be back.

Wow, this is what is considered funny and clever? It is just sad what has happened at Two Bills Drive.

You've been a Bills fan for too long if...

You know you are an old time Bills fan if you understand my name. -
To all you whippersnappers, the king of them all, y'all was the great Bob Lamb on Prodigy in the mid-90's. Never met the man, but lots of people who used to be here did. He practically invented the Bills message board. SDS is a great mentor and I appreciate his work but Bob Lamb was the first person I ever saw with a Bills message board. Are you still out there Bob?

Yoho is named after the great Mack Yoho. He was a defensive end that was also a kicker and not a very good one but at the beginning of every game in the early 60's, Bills fans would yell "yo" as he approached the kickoff and "ho" when he kicked the ball. Always thought it was the coolest thing about the Bills when I was 7

I am always curious about this kind of statement - "Kyle Williams can't be counted on for more than depth". Here was a rookie lower round draft pick that played some pretty good football for a first year guy. How do you know that he can not develop further? I wish people would express this stuff as opinions not established facts. In about two years we will have a good idea what his total potential might be. After his rookie year, the same could have been said about Bryce Fisher, now he is an established starter in the league. I am sure there are dozens of examples about players who continued to improve after their rookie year. At least it was better than the usual insightful statement "(fill in the name) sucks!"

Anyone Else think A-Train won't be resigned?

Besides many of these posts being illogical, are they all supposed to be in English? -
Go take a look at some of the early round picks at tight end the last few years and tell me how many are rated in the top half of the league. Picking tight ends is one of the biggest crap shoots in the league. I can remember when this board desperately wanted the Bills to draft Kyle Brady. There is Schockey and Heap that have panned out. Do you really think Jeramy "oops" Stevens is much of an upgrade on Royals. Finally, almost everyone rates tight ends on how many catches they make and yards they gain, when in fact on 3 plays out of 4 they are offensive linemen. How they block is probably more important than how many they catch.

Maybe OJ could write it. "How I would have done it if I had really been drafted by the Eagles".

to put the NFL is better than NHL argument to rest
Yoho replied to riverz04's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Yankees made the playoffs just like they always do, the Royals lost another 100 games or so, just like they always do. You have fun with the LA Bills, I will take take parity and the Buffalo Bills thank you. -

Good point Dibs, but with the new era of owners like Snyder and Jones, it takes both to survive now. -

The last time I saw a line like we had in the 90's? I was in Pasedena when the Cowboys absolutely abused our line in the Super Bowl. When was the last time you saw a lineup like the Yankees had this year? Guess what in today's NFL, we would be the Kansas City Royals, the low income team that can not compete. If you are a Bills fan, your nostalgia for the non salary cap years is really misplaced. -

the salary cap is the only reason the Buffalo Bills still exist. Without that, we would be the Montreal Expos of the NFL. And your contention that the NFL is garbage............. tell me why? This years playoffs have been tremoundsly exciting games. When have they been better? Give me a year with more excitement. Help me here with your contentions. -
Condolence sex. Dad would be miserable all Sunday evening if Mom did not find a way to cheer him up. Oops. sorry, that is your parents I am talking about.

Because, I, like almost the rest of this country will watch almost any NFL game that they will put on television - no betting, no beer - I will watch. I have not watched a hockey game not involving the Sabres in at least 10 years. I think Dave Keon was playing then. The NHL all-star game was beaten in the ratings by Andy of Mayberry on TV Classics. I am not kidding about this. I would like less drunks at the Bills game as well, but that is more a reflection on tailgaiting than football fans. College football ratings are continually lower than the pros, unless your team is playing or it is a particularly intruiging matchup, no one cares except locals and alumni. The numbers speak for themself and a lot of us do not gamble on the games and the NFL is the only sport that I will watch regularly without a rooting interest. -
So if Rutkowski hadn't fumbled, the course of human events as we know it would have been severely altered. OJ would have left his first wife for a Philly girl, Montana woud have been cut from the Bills and forgotten, Gary McDermott could have kept wearing #32, the Electric Company would have been known as the Mighty Locks because they led the way for Keyes, Johnnie Cochrane would still be chasing ambulances in L.A and Harvey Johnson might have been fired several years earlier. So, do not go back in time and turn that Rutkowsi fumble around. You kids might not even be here. Who knows how many of you were conceived after an exciting Bills victory in a celebration that may have never happened. Actually this would be a great premise for an article by a sportswriter some off season. How one play in some random game could have changed events.
-
Man, oh man, that one hurt almost as much as any loss just because it would have been so cool to beat the Oakland Raiders with a halfback playing quarterback in Oakland no less. But if Rutkowski does not fumble that snap, the Bills do not get the first draft pick and Philly gets O.J. and we get Leroy Keyes. So, I guess it worked out except for the double murder part.
-
What would Marv Levy know about talent in a 21 year old football players? I mean he played almost 4 whole games before he predictably got hurt. And look at the way Mario Williams has dominated. Obviously he was carrying that line.
-
Surprisingly the bigger impact players came in later rounds (Ryans, Colston, Jones, etc.) But we'll get to them next post. 864965[/snapback] It is not surprising at all. It happens every year. Anyone who thinks they can accurately project college performance into pro success is either very young, delusional or Mel Kiper. Mike Williams was drafted as the 4th player, Jason Peters was undrafted. This is after years of scouting by professional scouts. Good luck reading your draft guide.

Nobody ever, could drop kick like Ilio. Man, your body must take a beating doing that 20 times a week for 20 years. No wonder he opened a restaurant.

Chuck Healy also did the wrestling from the old Aud every Saturday at 6, right after Beat the Champ on Channel 4. Between Nin Angelo and Illio Di Paulo, Buffalo didn't need any more heroes.

The Beast, The Sheik, Illio DiPaulo, Bobo Brazil, the Gallagher Brothers and Chuck Healy. One of these things is not like the other.
