Campaign thread to force Ralph out as owner

Thank you. Endzone would prefer relocation to Ralph's contunued ownership of the Bills. Nuff said. -

Please just answer me (and many others who have raised the same point) a simple question. Why do you believe if the fans do not support the Bills (with Ralph Wilson as the owner) that Buffalo will continue to have an NFL franchise? Our ONLY hope of maintaining a franchsie after Ralph passes is an incredibly loyal fan base, continuing sellouts and luxury box sales. If we all listen to your advice, what do you believe will be accomplished beyond us "respecting ourselves"? -

Cute analogy at first but you seem a little obsessed with it. -

"At least you'd have a chance at happiness. With Wilson still smacking you around you have no hope at all." You know, there is where you and I fundamentally differ. The Bills bring me great happiness. I still look forward to every Sunday. I still love to watch the games. They frustrate me incredibly but so do a lot of sports teams. It sounds like you would rather go without football in Buffalo than these endless 7-9 teams. I would rather have football in Buffalo. It is that simple. Ralph Wilson brought football to Buffalo, kept them in Buffalo and if we ever lose this team, there is zero chance of another franchise locating here. The economic potential is so much greater in other metropolitan areas. I lived through Harvey Johnson and Hank Bullogh. I will survive the Jauron era. Go Bills! -

Nice analogy. Totally irrelevant but well done. In 2008, Buffalo is ugly and depressed. Love the City but it does not have much of a future. So, I should give up my season tickets and watch the Bills leave town and wait for the magic owner to come along and miraculously there will be a new team, a new bright and shiny city, a new downtown, waterfront stadium. You are practicing the first law of Jiminy Cricket... wishing will make it so. -

This may be the most absurd post of all time. Here is what happens if the Bills leave Buffalo............... nothing. We simply don't have pro football and Buffalo's one thing that makes it different from Utica disappears. There will be no "galvinization of the city", no new stadiums funded by NYC, no new waterfront projects and no new owner that would be interested in investing in a team that has no seat licenses, sells luxury boxes at a fraction of costs that other cities derive and invest in a community that has done nothing but contract since the 1950's. God Bless Ralph Wilson for bringing the team here in 1960, keeping the team here when he has had several opportunities to move them and has provided Western New York with its one thing to be proud of as the area declines and our economy worsens. I will also note that several of the biggest Wilson critics left Buffalo a long time ago. -
Man, where is Swede Youngstrom when we need him!

Best throwbacks are easily the Chargers and Bills

Does anyone else find the word "beytch" as incredibly lame as I do?

Let's see Max. If you make $100,000/year, a nice salary, probably in the 85% percentile, you only have to work 86 years to reach McCargo's contract. Now, of course, you need to take into account the tax considerations.....

And "the Crowell situation really screwed them" part
-
I think it was the "arrrgggggghhhhhh" that threw me.

Yeah. They are number 7 in defense in the league. This is not working at all Charlie Brown.

Things tend to change a lot between the ages of 7 and 12.

Every year at the draft, there is some freak of nature that has great measurables but gets drafted too late or sometimes goes undrafted. Jason Peters was one of those. Why?? Probably because he scored so low in the Wonderlics and there were character issues. When you do end up with these guys, it often ends in disaster even if the talent is there (see Pac Man Jones). For all those who say, "I don't care what he does in the clubhouse, as long as he plays on Sunday", just look at the disruption that Peters is causing. I thought he was at least smart enough to pull a Michael Strahan and skip the rigors of training camp and show up for the season, but he doesn't even have that much sense. What a shame. Peters has the smell of wasted talent all over him.

Excellent Research. Thanks

Someone has to find out who the backup was in 1977. He never played and therefore is not listed on the rosters that are on the Internet. Anyone have an old program?

Ok, one last look - 1974 (the Bills were 9-5) Week 1 - Raiders - Kenny Stabler Week 2- Dolphins - Bob Griese Week 3- Jets- Joe Namath Week 4- Packers - Don Tagge Week 5 - Colts- Burt Jones Week 6 - Patriots - Jim Plunkett Week 7 - Bears - Gary Huff Week 8 - Patriots - Jim Plunkett Week 9 - Oilers - Dan Pastorini Week 10 - Dolphins - Bob Griese Week 11 - Browns - Mike Phipps Week 12 Colts - Burt Jones Week 13- Jets - Joe Namath Week 14- Rams- James Harris Now this group sounds more impressive than the others, lets look at the yardage for each game; Stabler 122 Griese 84 Namath 33 Tagge 141 Jones 44 Plunkett 150 Huff 204 Plunkett 204 Pastorint 159 Griese 237 Phelps 102 Jones 170 Namath 131 Harris 170 Talk about a different world.

Here is another year to ponder. How about 1984 when we went 2- 14. Week 1 - Patriots - Steve Grogan Week 2- Cardinals - Neil Lomax Week 3 - Dolphins - Dan Marino Week 4- Jets - Pat Ryan Week 5- Colts - Mike Pagel Week 6 - Eagles - Ron Jaworski Week 7 - Seahawks - Dave Krieg Week 8 - Broncos - John Elway Week 9 - Dolphins - Dan Marino (to put this in perspective, Elway and Marino were rookies who were replaced during their games by Don Strock and Gary Kubiak) Week 10 - Browns - McDonald (I have no clue what his name is) Week 11 - Patriots - Tony Eason Week 12- Cowboys - Gary Hoegeboon Week 13- Redskins - Joe Theismann Week 14 - Colts - Art Schlicter

And today, New England means Brady, Indy means Manning, Dallas means Romo etc. There is always the elite, there is always the pretty good and the rest is junk. It just hasnt changed despite what the sportswriters want to invoke.
-
I am not sure about that. Millen, Maronivich, Nagle and Hodson were all kids at that time. I dont think a damn thing has changed.

As a fan of Pro Football for more years than most of you have been alive, every season, some columnist loves to lament that there are just not enough quality quarterbacks around and in the "good old days", the quarterback pool was much deeper. I thought that was BS when I first read it the 80's about the QB's of yore and I think it is BS now. I have been meaning to do this for a while and a boring Friday night when the wife is out of town is as good as any. I opened up Relentless and picked a random year (1992) and checked out the starting QB's against the Bills. You be the judge if this crop is better or worse than what we likely face this year. Week 1 - Rams - Jim Everett (serviceable in the Matt Hassleback range) Week 2- 49'ers - Steve Young - hall of famer, cant argue with that Week 3 - Colts - Jack Trudeau - enough said Week 4 - Patriots - Hugh Millen (or is it Matt Millen) Week 5- Dolphins - Dan Marino (even if I hate him, I have to respect him) Week 6 - Raiders- Todd Maronivich ( in the fine tradition of Alex Smith and Joey Harrington but on drugs) Week 7 - Jets - Browning Nagle ( best QB ever named Browning) Week 8 - Patriots - Tommy Hodson ( I guess he beat out Hugh Millen) Week 9 - Steelers - Neil O'Donnell - (had some good NFL success) Week 10 - Dolphins - Marino again Week 11 - Falcons - Wade Wilson ( he got benched and replaced by Billy Joe Tolliver) Week 12 - Colts - Jack Trudeau again Week 13- Jets - Browning Nagle again Week 14 - Broncos - Tommy Maddox ( I guess Elway must have been hurt) Week 15 - Saints - Bobby Hebert (actually he was pretty good at times) Week 16 - Oilers - Warren Moon (another Hall of Famer) So, we had 4 games against Hall of Famers, 4 games against pretty good NFL QB's and 8 games against mediocraty. Request another year and I will be happy to do the comparison.

Actually isn't the definition of gangsta = acting like an idiot?

Your first trip to Ralph Wilson (I still call it Rich stadium)

Thanks. In that case, we were definitely the first to tailgate near the cemetary -

Never thought about it before, but I was at the opening game. We correctly predicted the traffic jam so we showed up around 3 for the 8:00 game. Was a college kid at the time, so we tailgated until game time. I remember we drank near a bunch of gravestones behind a fence right at the stadium site. Wonder if it is still there? I guess we were among the first tailgaters in the history of the Ralph. Herb Mul-Key ran back the kickoff.
